Is Chrome Hearts (Still) Cool? 

Chrome is for final boss hypebeasts. The dude from 2015 with off white, louis x supreme & yeezies is now wearing full chrome today.

The streetwear clothes, especially the Matty Boy designed stuff, is basically tasteless rapper flex wear... would not touch it with a 10 foot pole 😭

Those sweatpants were actually a website exclusive, there are a few pieces with similar graphics. They don't drop clothing online often, but they shock drop occassionally. Same for hats, denim, and other items.

Anyone who can sell silver at gold prices is a genius imo but for the price point I’m never coppin CH 😂

There's the Chome Hearts that Richard stark designed for the likes of The Rolling Stones or Guns N Roses, and then there's chrome hearts for rap music videos and then there's chrome hearts for logo mania hype beasts with daddy's credit card. Weird it's all the same brand, but there's definitely layers to this.

The story with Cher just scream LA crackhead grindset, it seems like that was the plan all along, establish themselves as a brand for celebrities, clothing for bikers is just a cover up. There's no denying about the quality of these garments, yet only celebrities have opportunity/reason/money to flex them, as for mere mortals you better be lowkey about it to get some style points from likeminded fashion enthusiasts.

Chrome hearts is a cool brand but their stuff is overpriced as all fuck. Its sterling silver, you can find similar things at antique stores for like a 20th of the price (im only talking about the jewelry btw, i have no comment on the logomania clothes)

I hate that people actually are reviewing the sweatpants and merch shirts, why? That’s the least relevant part of the brand, that shit is merch to fund the actual project at the brand and Laurie Lynn has said so. The actual clothes chrome hearts makes is incredible, the custom button ups and the cut of the jackets is really nice, so far all the RU-vidrs that have made these videos don’t do much research into the brand other than surface level.

You can walk into any CH store fyi, if a SA is available they’ll show you round. You might have to wait, or they might not have anyone free at that time or day but that’s how I always do it, kinda fun😂

i like the style and design of chrome hearts artisan grade stuff, but pricing it reasonably should be expected when its already expensive in the first place. id rather go to someone and get it custom made at some outrageous price

I like the designs of their jewelry but I do think it's overpriced. The first and last piece of jewelry I bought from them is a 2nd hand cemetery ring I got for $500. I wear it everyday and get compliments on it so I love the ring and think the purchase was worth it. Everything else like their clothes are just corny to me tho.

My friend in San Diego was from LA and friends with the owner of Chrome Hearts and would give me their clothes for free because they wanted to have people they thought were fashionable in SD to wear it. I wasn’t crazy about the gear but wore it and they did have some cool pieces but I’m kicking myself for not saving those pieces. Probably worth a ton now. I honestly didn’t think they’d blow up like this but good for them. They clearly had a vision.

I have a few CH rings I've bought second hand, wear them every so often, I also have started taking a liking to rick owens jewelry which is becoming more accessible, but that's more in direction of brutalism, even though a lot of people mix CH and Rick especially hypebeasts.

The Joe Foti stuff that is older as far as apparel is some of my favourite Chrome Hearts stuff from the early 2000's, just slightly more unique or stand out ish in my opinion than your typical CH stuff bit still has the Chrome Hearts feel more so than Matty Boy.

Was Chrome Hearts ever "cool" ? It's the newest variation of the mid 2000s Affliction, American Fighter, UFC Bro look combined with healthy dose of Chris Angel goth spooky aesthetic. It's, to put it mildly, not for me.

There are definitely layers to chrome hearts, the hype beasts with logo mania, and then you have the true essence of the grand when you look closer into their jewelry and heritage and leather and wood pieces. Their customer pieces are what really sell me on the brand, as long as their leather goods. They’re logo mania clothes tho….

For the jewelry, King Baby is the closest alternative, also LA biker aesthetic. Scott Kay, Crazy Pig Designs, Travis Walker, and The Great Frog also have very similar pieces and are much less expensive.

CH is like any other luxury brand they NEED to sell the crappy sweats and tees to hype beasts to be able to afford making these insanely high priced 1/1 items that they know may or may not sell anytime soon and still be able to pay rent consistently same with the cdg converse they make those so she can make the incredibly niche things she shows in her runway collections

I have many Tiffany and Chrome hearts rings, and I found even Tiffany loose to Chrome Hearts in sterling silver Jewelry quality. Chrome hearts silver quality is amazingly good imo.

(Sorry for the long post, I just got a Reddit account and I've picked up some bad habits) All the logo prints (call it "merch", cuz it is) and massive replica market dilutes the brand so much. I don't know how much exclusivity they can really offer... unless you're into them for at least 10k, 20k. And if that's where you're at, you have the resources to engage with exclusivity in a thousand ways, but you chose Chrome Hearts... not exactly the most tasteful or interesting move. Lots of copycat, try-hard energy, cuz it's all so flashy, you're basically locked in to trying to look like a celebrity whether or not you are. And Drake's car... if anyone like, sent me a picture of that and said "bro check this out so cool" I might just block that person unless they were a leatherworker or an upholsterer themselves and had something interesting to say about it aside from "wow much brand very visible big money wow". I get the sense that the founders are two master craftsmen who wanna make crazy shit for celebrities (cuz who else can front the cash?).... and they rely on their tees and other logo-printed stuff to sell at an insane markup so the brand never dies. It's just business, but the pricing itself creates an illusion of exclusivity, and competes with the actual substance of the brand. But if you work as a fry cook, you could still theoretically save up for a $500 t-shirt. From a brand perspective, if your sh*t is so hype and fire etc etc that every other dork with TikTok and a Grailed account will not give up until they are flashing your logo in every possible circumstance, it's this dork army that starts to take over the representation.
