A born again believer is a member of the Body of Jesus. Jesus is Lord and King, so we are either following Him genuinely or not. Membership in a local assembly is not really the issue. Lots of people are members of a church and not really following Jesus. A social or religious club misses it. So follow Jesus for real with an actual ekklesia, five fold ministry leadership team (Ephesians 4) which follows the blueprints from Jesus in the new testament.

Yes, I think a formal membership can distract from true membership of the heart. It's a waste of time, ink, and paper. IMHO. :)

Hey, how are you, I missed the youtube Thursday, we teach Acts ch2:38, and baptism in Jesus name, so we ask people not force them, to be baptized in his name, we do believe Father, son, holyghost but through the name of Jesus, and calling on his name is according to scripture, it was his blood that was shed so I'm not understanding the big disagreement about been baptized in his name., And the father, son, and holyghost are titles, I would love for you to talk about this, also it says in Acts 4:10-12, salvation in no other name that you can be saved.

Yes, it is Biblical. Calvary Chapels drop the ball on this issue as well as other ones. But, Calvary Chapels' heresies are not huge, but still there.

@@randylucero4454 With respect to church membership, as a matter of logic, church discipline is more or less impotent unless those imposing the discipline are members as well as the errant believer. That is one example, moreover Calvary Chapels' follow something called the "Moses Model" of church government, which is not the New Testament model.

@@christopherskipp1525It isn’t the model that’s most important. What’s more important is exercising love and transparent accountability unlike what happened to Eileen Gray as reported by an investigative elder (Cho as then was) from and at Grace Community Church. It is both scary and sad that even such a biblically sound church can get things so wrong, isn’t it? I have prayed that JM will simply & humbly just apologise directly to the mother of the child raped by the father, a member of church staff then. We are called to do justice where genuine mistakes/sins have happened after all. Accountability, on the part of the elders is by far, more important than the leadership model at Cavalry or elsewhere.

@randylucero4454 The first section of the text, which comes to mind, is the book of acts. If you recall, the Greek speaking widows were complaining about the daily distribution of food and said the Hebrew speaking widows were, paraphrasing, getting all the food. The first thing the Apostles did was to up a board of believing men to supervise the food distribution, i.e., deacons. As I said previously, C.C.s, follow something called the Moses Model, that is to say, the pastor runs everything. This does not comport with the New Testament.

@wemuk5170 Calvery Chapels do not have elders, as they do not follow the New Testament prescribed model of church government. That is a problem and heretical. I know some great and godly Calvery Chapel folks, however, their Moses Model of church government remains unbiblical.
