I’m glad you brought up the Myer-Briggs test and related this to career choice. Would you make a series of videos about each personality type and the type of job that traditionally would “best suit” them?
@@nicoleenesse I've been enjoying your videos. I need your take on a few things with respect to Cybersecurity. So I'm currently working in the commercial real estate/property management space where i serve as the Assistant administrator for an access control system, activating and deactivating credentials or key fobs (Brivo Onair software); and Envoy's workplace visitor management software. I do other ancillary technology stuff too like audio-visual (AV) set up in conference rooms, WiFi connection etc. For somebody like me looking to go into the Cybersecurity space, what will be the starting point or which certification do you think I should take? I also do have a public health background and looking to go into Cybersecurity. What certification do you recommend or suggest I take? I would be most grateful if you can help me with this, and possibly some resources you can direct me to. Thanks.
@@nicoleenesse ok I have 2 questions for you!! Can i work from home Doing cloud security ? And my second question was I remember you saying alot of Cyber security positions were graveyard do you think cloud would have any graveyard offerings
Hi Nicole. i am half way though my first half of the CompTIA A+ study cert so far, going ok so far but my mind is burn out loll need to know when to take a break and not to over kill my study. love it though. Still love the videos your doing. keep in touch ...
I really like your videos I work in childcare and I’m thinking about finding something in it . I’ve been doing a lot of research about cyber security I just started the google it support certification I figured sense I don’t have any experience In it or cyber security that would be a good place for me to start . So far I like the certificate 👍
Hello! I'm trying to do my research into changing my career path into cyber security. Do you have any videos regarding what the expected job duties or tasks are?
What job in cybersecurity do you want? Cybersecurity is VERY broad. I do have a video that goes into depth of the careers ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dC5OgvK0tGI.html
Hi Nicole, thanks for your thorough explanation. I am currently learning web development but I am curious about cyber security or information security. But my concern is: can i still do it as I am 42 and a working mom? As we are aging, I don't know if I can think as fast as younger people. Thank you!
I dunno what's up with RU-vid algorithm, this is hands down the best informative channel. Once again commenting so that it gets to users interested in this sector. Kudos 💗🎉🥳
Is your resume helper going to be working again sometime? Also not having a tech background what else can I do besides getting certs could you recommend? Thanks definitely enjoy your channel
Hello Nicole, thank you for sharing such great information. Im new to your channel and I’m trying to determine if cybersecurity will be a good transition for me once I retire from the military in 2 years. My Army career has always been in logistics but I would like to to do something different. Do you do one on one coaching?
This was very helpful, thank you! If I can offer a constructive crit as a highly visual person with a background in character animation and illustration, it's just that the body language featured in the thumbnail and channel icon may be making an unintended statement. Your in-video persona and smile are very natural, earnest, relaxed and down-to-earth, which seems to contrast with this tightened smirk that communicates slyness, facetiousness, and conceit. I'm no body language analyst, this is just my unsolicited impression as someone who draws facial expressions, but your other thumbnails give a more approachable and genuine vibe. Thanks again for the great content. ✌️
Hi Nicole. I’m going on 41…. Do you think 41 is too late to get started in cyber security? Cyber security seems much more secure than what I currently do/did.
I’m 48 and a senior at UT San Antonio in Cyber. I’m doing it. There are several students around my age in various classes. I say that 41 is still very young. Go for it! Good luck in your studies.
Hello Nicole, I've only seen 4 of your videos since yesterday, but they are so informative for me that i would like to take this oppurtunity like thank you. Since you have already worked in so many areas, the experiences you pass on in the videos are very instructive. Thanks also for the tip of the Meyer Briggs test which i will to shortly. I'm about to start a 12-month training course in this area and your information is exactly what i need now. Thanks very much
I worked in IT 10 years ago, was a mixture of desktop support and system administration. Made a huge mistake in going to university to study accounting. Now i want to get back in IT, espicially cyber security or even networking or cloud. I have a post graduate in IT. Do you think i should progress to a graduate diploma in cyber security or even masters? Or just start in helpdesk?
If you can get a computer that has enough RAM to run virtual machines, so that you can run windows 10/11 as well as other OSs like Kali Linux and Security onion. Stay away from the M processors on MacBooks because they do not easily support virtualisation. I would suggest anything with 24Gb RAM.
INFP here!! I am more interested in governance risk and compliance! This is the first video where I see someone mentions the Myers Briggs test; interesting.
I'm currently working through the Google IT Support cert per recommendation from a few of your older videos--- Every time I watch a new video of yours, I find myself super motivated to put more time into completing that cert and moving forward with other certs to help jump start my cybersecurity career. Thanks for all of the help and motivation, I'm always looking forward to more videos in the future. Keep up the great content! :)
@@nicoleenesse coming back to this comment as I am starting the new year off by accepting an offer to work as an IT Support Services Technician! Still have a long way to go but I couldn't be more excited to start my IT career, and I definitely owe a lot to your channel!
Your videos have been some of the most helpful to me thank you so much.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 I've absorbed all kinds of advice from various sources. But yours stuck with me the most! 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
In transferring my degree plan at WGU from nursing informatics to bachelors in IT, I really think I'd like to do cyber security but the mentor told me that I should start out in IT instead of cyber security, do you think thats a good idea?
Ehh, if you want to do cybersecurity I would do cybersecurity. At one point, it was necessary to start out in IT but now, you could start off in cybersecurity
@@nicoleenesse thats what I figured, WGU wanted me to do their BSIT program and see if I wanted to transition to cybersecurity at some point. Im new to the world of tech so I'm trying to sort this out.
Hey I been watching your videos and thanks for all the advice. I've actually started a course on TCM and was wondering what you would recommend for software development
Here is my course list for different course recommendations, including software www.notion.so/nicoleenesse/Bootstrapped-Bootcamp-a572aa1684f747519269fa6b3bdcdf36?pvs=4
Hi Nicole! Thanks putting out the cyber security videos. What would be a good position should I be looking for start the cyber security journey if I have Network+, Security+ and Linux+ (I just finished them recently)? I am seeing that most “entry” level cyber security positions are asking for at least 3 years of exp and tons of programming language sets. What should I do to get my foot in the door?
Thank you, Nicole, for another excellent and inspiring video. Past the Google IT certificate, where would you suggest one go vis-a-vis pursuing a cloud security or cloud networking path?
@@nicoleenesse Thank you for replying. I like the idea of security for networking. I will finish my Google IT certificate in roughly two weeks. After that I will apply for help desk positions. What course(s)/route would you suggest I take to go from the Google IT cert/help desk to cloud security for cloud networks? Thank you, again, for your most excellent site. And most of all for the encouragement you give to us all.
Nicole, I Dmd this question on Instagram but here it goes since you do reply to comments: Can my homeland security bachelors degree get my foot in the door too cybersecurity? Many of my required classes were IT courses.
@@nicoleenesse also, I see a lot of jobs that don’t require degrees and the other side is that they only take cyber degrees (or something related). I hope this turns into content for your channel possibly for the answer lol.
Thanks Nicole, another excellent video as usual. 👍 I'm starting to learn cloud security myself along with cybersecurity. I took the Meyer Briggs test years ago, I started out as an introvert, now I lean toward extrovert, (with a lot of work)
This is refreshing to hear! I’m currently a pharmacy tech and looking into going to IT or cybersecurity I felt as it was impossible to make a career with no experience I’ve built a computer but that’s all I know, would you recommend that I get certifications or go to a school like WGU to get my foot in the door?
Hey Hey, getting certificates especially the CompTIA Security+ would be very beneficial. WGU includes certificates in their program and would be a great place to start. I can 100% recommend.
I really enjoy your content as someone who is looking to get into tech. I'm currently in real estate and my company is actually undergoing a massive systems/cyber upgrade so might try and get some exposure to this. Your point on reaching out to current employer is a really helpful suggestion!
