Because he’s as competitive as anyone. He wouldn’t be taking the call if he didn’t think he could win. He wants to challenge himself with the best competition. If he wins in LA, he has whatever resources he needs and can land any big free agent he wants.

If he does well and wins championships he won't get fired..

JJ would maybe be better short term, very short term, like only 1-2 seasons because of LeBron. But long term Hurley would be the absolute best fit. JJ is unproven and we’ve seen this movie when Luke Walton took over as HC. Hurley could have this team competing for a chip for a very long time if he builds it his way.

@@joseperales2381you must not have watched lakers basketball for the past decade. They do not draft and develop talent, simply adding a coach is not going to fix that. Hurley is good in college because has full and complete control over every single aspect of UCONN men’s basketball. In the nba he will have at best a third of the control he had. Along with the simply reality that he is coaching the lakers which means he must be winning chips, an unfair expectation that the lakers front office created and has let control the franchise for over 10 years. A coach is great but not if you have people in the front office that impede him and his decisions. Also what players is Hurley gonna develop, they got no draft picks😂

You need more then being a former player and podcast with lebron to be a NBA head coach

luke walton was also a former player and how did that work out for them and he had prior coaches experience but you think jj reddick no experience fit better than dan hurley

Was it all Ham's fault? Obviously not. But he won no favors from anyone with his rotations and losing of the locker room which is a great way to get fired in the NBA.

Exactly this right here, no coach is going to make it more than a year or two there with Lebron's uncertainty/age. They're closer to rebuilding than they are contending.
