Thank you Dr Malik. This was what I needed to hear. As a 62 yr old man, I have used these supplements over the years only to find out they did nothing for me except make me sick. I got sucked into the advertising like many men. I am done with them for good. I am going to watch the rest of your video series on the subject. You’re the Dr. that us men needed to hear this from. Right on the money, Dr. Malik! Both very informative and timely. My DHEA is going in the bin. Can't wait for the Fenugreek video, since that is the last supplement I'm taking after ditching Maca, Boron, and now, DHEA. Haven't ditched exercise yet, just wish it came from Amazon in a bottle.

Boron is supposed to lower SHBG therefore increase free testosterone if you can believe the only one study about it. Even if it does that (and it is a big "if") it would not increase total testosterone.

48 year old male on DIM, Boron, and DHEA for 18 months. My estradiol is down while free T and total T are both up significantly since beginning. LDL has also gone down slightly while HDL is slightly up. Don’t know however how much of all of this is due to my having started working out again a few months prior to beginning daily supplementation.

DHEA is the mother of all hormones. Just a base as I understand it. Since testosterone and all hormones are produced from cholesterol. I add DHEA just to keep it in optimal range. Since men DHEA levels go south as we age. Also, DHEA has other benefits to the human body .

I don't think you realize how difficult it is to set up testosterone injections. First, only a handful of doctors, usually at specialist clinics, will even entertain the notion. Overall it took me nearly six months (in Phoenix, AZ) to finally get this organized. To say they have changed my life is an understatement. I went from being lethargic, depressed and mentally woolly to feeling alert, motivated and sharp. I now fully appreciate why many women benefit from HRT. We are not meant to run with suppressed hormone levels and it's time doctors woke up to this fact. As for negative effects, I would rather lose a few years than live out my life as a the walking zombie I had become.

My wife injects me every 21 days. It's so easy It's pathetic. Alternating but sides. If not you can inject yourself in your legs upper portion. Again so easy. I don't feel a thing when my wife does it. Not even a pinch. Get the individual viles of 1ml. Get the syringes with the 18 gauge needle on them to take the liquid out of of the vile and get the 23 gauge needles to inject. After the syringe is full with the 1ml, switch needles to the 23 gauge needle, purge the air out and inject. 5 minutes tops. Beats driving to and from the Dr's offices. Doing it for almost 2 years now. Any questions feel free to ask me.

Here is what works for my healthy hormonal balance as a man: Longjack, Tribulus, ashwagandha, Maca roots, 2-3 grams of proteins per kilo body weight. I am currently doing somewhat low carb diet (110-130 grams carbs per day) and from experience, this is keeping me lean but also having a toll on my sxx drive where as, if I just go full carbs mode, my sxx drive will go significantly up but it will also mean I start getting belly fat and overall more fat. I like my current body fat %, I think it's around 10%-15% now and if I go full on carbs, it will become more like 17%-23% and my chest will start to get gyno. Obviously I am way stronger in the gym when I eat lots of carbs and I get a lot of respect from the males around me, some of them don't even dare to make eyecontact when I am bulked up with carbs, but I prefer being more lean and less stronger, it looks more healthy in the mirror, the only downside is the less respect you get, as a male in the city walking out at night, you obviously feel less anxious when you're bulked up which is another side effect from low carbs, it will make you feel slightly more anxious and slightly less confident, that's why I also sometimes use reishi and L-theanine on a daily basis, if the angst starts creeping up too much. My bloodwork shows 16,15 on free test and 0,305 (I think it's around 450 on American metric?) on total test, I believe my test is on the low end and I feel absolutely horrible without all these supplements mentioned above + vitamin B1, b2 and b3 niacin + magnesium. Doctors refuse to listen and help me out, because I am still within "normal T range", I think it's odd doctors ignores my health issues and that I am forced to spend so much money on supplements just to function on a daily basis, but that's danish healthcare in a nutshell. If I were a female and asked for hormones because I identify as a male, I would get instant help for hormonal treatment. It's a wicked world we live in.

Thanks, Dr. Malik... What I'd like to see is a protocol for increasing test by age, and activity levels of supplements like DHEA, pregnenalone, etc., and even glutamine. TRT isn't always an option as it is expensive, and some may just not want to go that route. And things that ordinarily might not ve recommended for younger guys, might be very beneficial for older men. Also, there are plenty of discussions about TRT protocols, and debunking test boosters, etc., but not typically an outline of what guys should be doing.

Thank you for using your knowledge to help so many men. I'm curious if you've investigated red light therapy directly to the testicles? This topic has been discussed by various media outlets, but I can't find credible research on the subject. The closest is an article from 2022 in JMIR Dermatol, but it's focus is UV radiation exposure to the testicles and not red light. Red light research in general is obtainable, but I don't have the medical background to understand if the applications of this therapy would have any potential benefits if used directly on the testicles. Just curious if you had any thoughts.

DHEA is a pro hormone. I dont know what my Testosterone level is because I don't care about the number. Focusing on the number is the wrong approach as everyone is different. How you feel and function should be the ultimate guideline.
@joe-rm4bl
@joe-rm4bl 14 дней назад
Yes everyones testosterone levels are different which is why you need to get it checked in order to see if you are low or high.
@danielsykes7558
@danielsykes7558 12 дней назад
I would say yes & no. If you have no symptoms, don't check the number, because even "low" might work for you, you may be more sensitive to it etc. But if one does have symptoms, (I'm being a hypocrite here) one should check levels first before trying to up levels. For example, I shouldn't take the supplements I throw at my body most likely, as I have PTSD caused psychogenic sexual dysfunction. My doctors have never had me check my testosterone levels. It could be good to know, but my symptoms aren't really from that. The number may not matter in my case, so taking the supplements I try is kinda pointless/dangerous That being said, when I work out, I feel my best. Doesn't get rid of PTSD, but depression and my health feel better, so ... Maybe I should save some money and focus on exercise before supplements.
@samprice6735
@samprice6735 10 дней назад
I agree. The normal range is so wide that if you get your levels checked and you are just in the lower normal range a doctor will say your fine. But if you don’t feel fine that maybe you had been at the upper end of the normal range and actually this is a third or less of what you are used to hence why you feel low. So I agree numbers are only a guide, how you feel is a more important compared to your normal. Only way numbers could help is if you had your levels checked at a younger age so you know what is normal for you, then years later you know if your low for you if even in the normal range. Also testosterone to estrogen ratio is important than actual test levels. You can have high test and high estrogen and feel terrible because the balance is off and you just need to reduce estrogen levels.

My experience with supplements and elevating my T in general is initially you'll see results, then you'll actually have more problems than before due to elevated estradiol, which will then require an aromatase inhibitor for a while until your body normalizes. Best to get a doctor involved and get labs so you're not shooting in the dark guys.

Testosterone eventually converts to estradiol and DHT. If you increase testosterone, don't be surprised about increased estradiol. It's the ratio that matters. You can reduce the conversion ro DHT or estradiol via several ways.
@donquixote...
@donquixote... 19 дней назад
Yeah, that's true, but your test has to be a fair bit higher for estradiol to go higher. Just using something like DHEA isn't going to get your test level high enough for that. And even if you were on TRT having higher estradiol in and of itself is not really a problem for most (maybe a few exceptions).

I’ve been very tired lately so I asked my MD to order some bloodwork such as Vit D level, iron, B12, CBC, chem, lipid profile and premenopausal hormones. I googled Supplements and DHEA came up so I decided to give it a try. I took the first dose 10 mg/day and immediately felt a difference. After 1 hour of taking it, I actually went to the gym after not being able to work out for almost a year because I’ve been so tired. Been going to the gym for the past 4 days. I feel energized. Is it psychological? -I seriously doubt it. My hormones will be checked again in 6 months

@@Scramblefred2399 Thanks for the info...I'm switching plans totally regardless and will see what the other Doctors say. I don't drink, certainly need the exercise, but when I retired 2 yrs ago I have lost over that time 22 lbs so it's not a weight issue either.

I do take dhea as a supplement but not to boost testosterone I take it as a second form of fish oil for overall brain health, helps prevent stroke, lower triglycerides, and helps prevent heart disease. I take testosterone shots to boost testosterone, it’s easier.

@@drew2fast489 I’m 47 years old, long term for me is maybe 20 more years if I make it that long in this crazy old world. I also take supplements, eat healthy foods, do not drink alcohol or take any other drugs like pot, cocaine, meth, or any other prescription medications from a doctor. I keep my test shots somewhere between 175mgs to 300mgs a week depending on where my training is at. I’m absolutely healthy as a horse at my age and consistently outperform guys half my age in the gym.

Is there a difference between DHEA and DHA?

They are completely different things. DHA is a type of omega 3 fatty acid and DHEA is a hormone precursor.

You could merely eat (red) meat, and live actively, perhaps even lift heavy. But hey, pills are always the answer these days. Not a bad breakdown of the effects by the way. A truth, as things are, is that what you use to replace what your body is supposed to do naturally, will stunt said ability; therefore said body will adapt to it. Not the end all be all example, abd there are other reasons for things to go the way they do. That said, it isn't too out of the ordinary for it to be discounted. Have a great week.

❤❤ DHEA 10mg to 20mg every other day kicks things into gear nicely. Boosts Nitric oxide also as well as increased circulating Testosterone. Been using it off and on since 1996. #1 Item to keep in any Man's Tool chest.

I personally don't agree with this.I use Dhea, tribulus, tongkat ali,vitamin D, Ashwaganda, zinc, and boron,and Dim. I used to incorporate arimistane, but that is now harder to obtain. They, in combination, work very good for me. Dhea of course, is the precursor to so many hormones. That's the reason all the pro hormones that WORK disect the structure of dhea for their products. In my opinion, Dhea and Dim work.Especially when stacked. They did for me.Just because you don't see huge elevations in serum test levels doesn't mean you arent getting a boost and performance enhancing benefits from these products. The only way to see these high elevations in blood serum levels is by using the REAL thing. You can't just debunk every supplement because of serum level tests and listen to every statement from medical professionals that don't actually work out or train hard themselves. I am a professional fighter ,certified strength and conditioning specialist ,and a physical therapist. Try things for yourself because everyone is different.
