Is Elder Scrolls Online's Newest Reward System Good Enough? (Golden Pursuits) 

guild wars 2 does achievements/collections so well. there's sooooo much you can get from just achievements alone, which then gives you incentive to actually play certain parts of the game or chase certain items, which you then feel actual rewards from. not just "achievement completed" or some title like it is in eso.

A thing I noticed: In the previous PTS cycle, this system had extra rewards for certain specific quests. For example, if you completed the specific quest to 'defeat 1 world boss,' you would receive an extra crown crate or an additional reward. This system could be quite interesting to encourage players to engage in specific activities, similar to the themed endeavors from this past year.

I don't need free sh*t to claim. I want the reason to play. Thank you

You know how they've been adding weekly merchants in IA and now in IC. I think it would be interesting if they would do that for other merchants like the Undaunted Achievement vendor where we could get some new furnishings or the Writ vendor where sale a couple of plans at a discount.

Fuck all this just make the actual game activities more rewarding

I know its PTS, but they need to do something with duplicates, ill even take crown gems lol at least its something.. Like if I have that pony.. what do I get? If I have that outfit... What do I get? I think reward structure is great for new or 1-2 years players, but for people that PLAY PLAY this game lol, the rewards are still meaningless. For example we got those Dragon Bones DLC for free in the daily rewards... Ive had those for years lol. also.... low-key they need to add a zero to all the endeavors as well lol. Like my thought process would be if I grind all the endeavors every day and the weekly I think I should be able to buy a mount by like the 6 days left mark on the current crates in the store.

Can't change the past. ESO has dragged their feet on certain things without argument. This is a good step forward for them, of course this should have been available much much earlier in the game's lifetime than now 10 years later, but I'll continue to encourage the things I like to see. Operant conditioning - I'll throw the bone for this one, this is a GOOD thing that should be in the game. Similar to how over the last year there has been more effort in being festive in game during holiday events - they seem to have new people on the team that are making good changes for the game overall. This stuff takes time, take what we can get at this point and continue to encourage the things we want out of the game. There is still space for the game to continue evolving.

I would just like to be able to play properly again. Since update 42 I had performance issues, when update 43 dropped with constant rubberbanding, and crashes during group activities, and not being able to see enemies and aoe's I can't even play. My performance on PC NA is now worse with the lowest graphics settings than my performance in my old Xbox on the EU server.

when you said reward system, i thought this was going to be about rewards for random dungeons and battlegrounds, and maybe crown crates. I don't know why they added this when endeavors and daily rewards exist. more menial tasks to keep track of is not something im super excited for personally..

I see the positive aspects of such a system, but I can't ignore that it's realized as yet another fomo system. And that stresses many players and, in the long run, will also burn out and lose players. I also doubt that it will help attract new players, as was mentioned.

ESO used to be a game. It has devolved into a participation prize factory.

If this is to substitute the current event cycle im in. If it is only another daily/weekly grind... 😮‍💨

You're talking about a game where people spend $100+ on a house and then who knows how much more on furnishings (as fas as I know the Trial Dummy and Standing stones aren't obtainable in game). And no, not because you saved your ESO+ Crowns or because you bought the crowns from another player doesn't make a difference, money is still being deposited into the game anyway (people like to use this argument specifically when buying stuff like the 25 crate packs). ZoS is never going to respect the consumers if the consumers don't respect themselves on the first place.

If they do this and craglornify some of those vast open spaces in the dlc zones and final two zones of each faction maybe I can recommend the game to newer folk. For vets I am not sure if this is enough.

Do you need ESO+ to complete the pursuits? If not it’s a pretty good for ppl that don’t have it / a ton of DLC.

My problem with it is that ZOS is using items previously sold in the store. As a client this make me regret my purchases and for sure will decrease my future spending.

this made me laugh so hard. I have not played ESO in 2 years because everything just feels more of the same. so instead of coming out with meaningful content and MEANINGFUL rewards, they come out with yet another grind that is more of the same to give you cosmetics and rewards that are basically absolute junk. no wonder people are leaving the game in droves.

I don’t work to do the endeavors, I don’t do the 15000 dailies everyday or mostly at all anymore. I’m not going to be do this as well.

Would very nice that every duplicate you'd get from Golden Pursuit would be turned into CROWN GEMS! I very very rarely buy these 'clown crates' so with gems one could get some nice things straight away without gambling 👌🏻 but I'm afraid we cannot have nice things, now can we.

Even if free, I was never one for battle passes type of things. Dunno how to feel about this.

Me personally i think its fantastic to get free rewards. Of course whether you like em or not depends on you. The pony is kinda "meh", crates are rad, 50k gold is rad, but that costume i really like. Endeavors to me... well, idk it seems too hard to get rewards from personally. Gaining 30 Endeavors from the daily ones doesnt even make a dent on the amount u need to buy something good. Maybe im just terrible at saving them up.

I don't mind it. Getting more rewards for things you do anyway. Hopefully this is not intended as an eventual replacement of Endeavors.

Endevors 2.0. Why didn't they just revamp the endevors system? All these handout systems.... You have the daily log in rewards, endevors, and now golden pursuits. It smells of desperation. More avenues to monopolize. They're going to see players participate and therefor say that it's good and we like it. If I'm a new player in a game and I see all the handouts a game gives me for just logging in, I get strong vibes the game has or is on a decline and is using desperate messures to have players stay or log in. Instead of putting in more systems, they should reinvent what they already have and make it more rewarding that way. This doesn't fix or cure the itch of a better reward system.

And they waited for this... for a DECADE. Guild Wars 2 has had it for MORE than a decade, and it is older than ESO. Ah well...

I’d rather they just increase the amount of endeavors that are available… if it took 3 months of serious gaming to get enough for a 16k mount instead of 10 months, that’d be rad.

I got tired of asking for things I want from ESO housing. I'm now playing Pax Dei. Years of asking ESO for structural furniture to be cohesive and give us enough roof parts, etc. Years of asking ESO for an empty plot with 700 item limit that is on temperate forest biome like Antiquarian and Forgemaster Falls (both have prexisting buildings and both are only 600 slots).

Golden pursuits look good. Still waiting for Zos to increase amount of endeavors earned.

I think they are missing the point. They should give better rewards for specific content not just tag another reward system on the game for doing misc tasks. This doesnt incentivise me to do challenging pve or pvp content, the fastest and easiest way to do these is RNDs or overworld add farming. Why not reward the player with idk 10k gold for every vet dlc dungeon they complete or possibly even crown crates. Making new skins, mounts or pets for every dungeon may be a bit much but this would require minimal effort from the devs. In an MMO with horizontal progression you need to get a bit creative with rewards and incentive for endgame activities, gear that gives you maybe 5% more dps alone isnt enough as it is in WoW for example

What isn't good enough is maintenance lasting 12 hours for PS servers during an event again. After 10 years you would think they would be competent at updating the game by now.

Better late than never, but ... I hate, hate, hate all this limited-time stuff. I'm sick and tired of every MMO running limited-time events to boost their daily login metrics. At least LotRO's Legendary Item Reward Track usually lasts about three months. But most other MMOs run these two-week FOMO events, usually back-to-back, sometimes even overlapping (Star Trek Online is a major offender in this regard). I would much rather they just added better rewards to an existing system like Achievements. Have some rewards just based on total Achievement points, others based on specific achievements or groups of achievements.

Every one on eso should just stop playing it and switch to TL for a fresh breath of air man. ESO is just not it anymore

I really hope instead of tasks like "kill 80 enemies" they rrplace all those with actual ACTIVITIES such as "complete an arena" or "complete a veteran daily random dungeon" or "complete a trial" or "complete a dolmen" or "completr a normal daily random dungeon" or "complete a veteran arena". It would be even better if they were specific dungeons, arenas and trials tbh

Dumb here's another detrimental reward system. That's basically another dailies rewards system/seals of endeavor system.

This bs is basically a spinoff of weekly endeavors... or should I say weakly endeavors...

if there is any sort of paid option with this, it's trash automatically this game is already so heavily monetized on almost every front that anything with any sort of paid path is automatically trash, not matter how good it is otherwise and it's already off to a god awful start with the damn FOMO everything in there would be better off being made into a daily login reward yeah...even if it wasn't too little, too late, this wouldn't be enough to get me to stay with how half of what they add with every update is another overpriced macro transaction and all the free stuff is blatantly worse they need to cut back hard on the monetization. to a point where they game would need restructured to accommodate that. bare minimum, add a vendor that you can spend gold on to get anything that is in the crown store as an alternative. this would both help with the inflation problem and give people a reason to play the game for once also, STOP CHARGING FOR DUNGEONS!!!! my god, that is my number 1 pet peeve with this game. and it's only that much more aggravating when they make the new sets in those dungeons OP and then nerf them a month or so before a new OP set drops "bUt WiTh EsO pLuS yOu Ge-" shush! that is nothing more than artificial inflation of the value of ESO+. create a problem, sell the solution tactic. predatory monetization 101 "bUt YoU cAn TrAdE cRoWnS fOr-" no you can't. you're not trading anything. you're exploiting a whale to be a whale. this is useless to anyone who isn't a whale.
