My father is a mason in France, in the ”Grande Loge de France, rite écossais ancien et accepté”. He joined 10 years ago after a friend introduced him. The same friend ended up killing himself a few months after. One day I looked in my father’s library and found the books with the rituals for introduction in the blue lodges (the first three steps before becoming a master mason). It was disturbing. Pictures of tarot cards, Egyptian mythology, lots of mention of the Temple of Salomon. For the master mason level they basically re-enact a murder scene. It’s hard to understand everything because they use lots of code words and **** signs. Throughout their rituals they repeat the phrase “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité”. They also always start their ritual by opening the Bible to prologue of St. John’s gospel. I get so upset when I hear Catholics saying Freemasonry is just a club for upper-middle class boomers. No it’s not. It’s a gnostic sect that promises its members they’ll acquire secret knowledge unknown to the rest of mankind. They do a kind of syncretism between Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism), Egyptian mythology and Christianity. It teaches them man is the measure of all things while at the same time referring “the Great Architect of the Universe” which is a kind of faceless god. It’s just disturbing. Please pray for my dad, he is a fallen away Catholic.

The Church condemns it, that's all I need to know

I'm a former Freemason. I left the fraternity after coming to the faith. I can say with 100% certainty that Freemasonry and it's appendant organizations are not what they seem on the surface. Sadly, because we do not wrestle solely against flesh and blood, many are blind to the true nature of rituals and the fraternity. I continue to pray for all members of the Craft, that they would find the one True Light in Christ Jesus.

If you're a faithful and believing Christian, you do not need Freemasonry.

My Dad's Pastor used to be VERY high up in the Free Masons and left. He told my Dad to stay away from Free Masonry. It always made me wonder what he knew or found out.

Just the fact that youtube put up one of those disclaimers on this video, defining what freemasonry is, just like they do with any prolife video and abortion disclaimers, makes me suspicious of freemasonry.

I call bullshit. Don't be so gullible. I was not raised Catholic. My father was a Mason but he never really talked about it beyond the fact that he had to go to meetings from time to time. I recall asking him more detailed questions out of curiosity but he would never really answer. When I was in my early 20s, I became a cop like my Dad . One day I told him I was interested in possibly becoming a member. He immediately and forcefully pulled me aside and told me this..."stay as far away from the Masons as you can get and never forget it". He has a look of fear that I had never seen on his face before. He would not speak beyond that. As a young cop, I became close to an old salt Irish Catholic Priest who was our Police Chaplain. He rode with me on many occasions and I treasure our conversations and friendship. We had zero religion in my family and I felt a big emptiness in that respect so I converted and became a Catholic. When my father passed away, I was given his jewelry box. I examined his Masonic ring which he always wore. It looked similar to a Class ring with a green stone. I noticed a glint under the stone so I grabbed a magnifying glass and flashlight for a closer inspection. I shined the light down into the stone and I could the the numbers "33" underneath. I was stunned... my Dad was actually a 33rd Degree Mason. I've heard the Satanic stories too and I never really put much credence into it but when I think back to the obvious fear my Dad had on his face when he demanded I never get involved in the Masons, I came to believe it. I only wonder what he had to do to obtain that degree and I worry where his soul is now.

Just look up the Cristero war, the french revolution, and the Spanish civil war, you can judge masonry by its fruits.

I joined Freemasonry out of skepticism and curiosity and learning about it, I have renounced it in the name of Jesus.

15 years in and some of these things mentioned I heard about it but like most modern day Masons I just don't see it. I was hung up with the charities and the hospitals and all the good they doing that I dismissed it especially seeing fellow masons in church. It wasn't until I started going to a more traditional Church that my priest explained to me that if somebody imitates the mass in anyway you should be careful, the priest is also an old polish man who told me I should not take the Eucharist if I continue doing this. Knowing that was what drove me to get out.

I went to a family friend's Masonic funeral one time. Only theological point I could pick up was that the main speaker said something about "the architect of the universe," which *sounds* like it could be the Christian God but not specifically. I'm not sure if the speaker was Christian or not; apparently anyone of any religion can join the lodge. As well, a short testimony here: this family friend who passed was a bitter sexist athiest, and his sister shared during the funeral that he spent his last day of life conversing with a female nurse which resulted in him convincing her to start going back to church. He apparently said it was "the happiest day" of his life. This friend overcame his hatred of women and got to become a disciple in his last day of life. It brings me to tears. I hope he's happy and I hope I see him again 🙌

Very concerned with Jimmy Akin .. I question whether he is a Catholic one which Leo XIII would recognize... he is not a religious... You cannot declare Jesus Christ as the one and only true God when joining Freemasonary. The Catholic Church has declared emphatically you cannot be a Catholic and Freemason they are mutually exclusive. A Catholic is for Christ or else Anti Christ which is the name for the demonic.

I feel like this clip was irresponsibility edited because of how it ends. With such a cliffhanger, one is left wondering what Jimmy thinks of Masonry. I for one, don't have 6 hours watch the full interview. I hope Jimmy affirms church teaching on Catholics being prohibited from becoming Masons. And I hope he does discuss the very troublesome and dark historical interactions between the Masons and our Church. Clarity and full historical context are important, hoaxes included. So, I presume there's more in the interview, but man, that's a looooooong interview. Geesh.

I'm researching this subject due to being an evangelical for 20 years but really looking at Catholicism. I've noticed over years fascinated by old churches in UK and Ireland there's a lot of the time a masonic lodge very close to church of England, Ireland, Scotland churches also lots of these churches have a lot of masonic plaques. The link is undeniable and has along with other things and prayer drawn me to the true church.

When I was young, our next door neighbor (whom I had a very good relationship with) tried to introduce me to and get me into the Freemasons of which he was a member. I had very little knowledge at the time of who the Freemasons were (this was back in the mid 1908s) and I thank God that I didn't accept his offer (this was long before I converted to the Catholic Church). We remained good friends after that, and he never brought up that subject again.

Akin imitates the same pattern as the Taxil guy himself. He should have said from the beginning that the guy was not legit because there will be people who don't watch the entire hour of his show. I mean that information with all its details gets loaded up into people's minds as we listen to it for 40 minutes so he can say it's not true at the end- this disrupts the rational thought process, which is probably why Taxil did it. I don't see why Akin would do it as well. Not to mention that, since he is saying "use your discernment" is the lesson at the end, he doesn't use any discernment whatsoever for the conclusion. The least likely possible conslusion is to just accept at face value the lying man himself saying he was just doing a light hearted prank for 12 years involving deep cover for him and two other fake defectors to corroborate. This is not a "prank", it's a very sophisticated operation. Akin just glosses over that. I've never seen Akin talk before, but this left me thinking "what the heck is wrong with this guy??"

Hey, I was born in 1962 but it ain’t me! My great uncle and his brother- my grandfather-were both Freemasons and the uncle was 33 degree. I am creeped out to know how evil they really were. I’m not surprised though. They both had horrible tempers.
