Is Gotham Knights Really THAT Bad? 

Deadpool is also my favorite DC character.

Damage immunity during takedown animations is what makes combat in games like this and many others work. It's actually baffling how they missed that.

I didn’t want coop I just wanted to play as Robin nightwing and red hood in the open world single player focused game but not like this. They deserved better than this crap.

I wish the combat felt more responsive and had more weight/impact behind the hits. The animations of the attacks don’t line up with the button presses bc it’s so damn sluggish

I actually just finished the game and I want more. I hope we get DLC expansions and updated combat. There should also be PLENTY of quality of life improvements. There should also be more game modes too, like some challenge modes maybe. This game definitely had the potential to be great, it just didn't deliver. For me, it does the bare minimum, by giving me a full length Nightwing game (also Batgirl), and that's all the reason I need to play.

I'm sure suicide squad will blow this game out the water and it's being made by the arkham developers they will show how a coop game is really made and its rated him so they will have more gorey takedowns its like gears of war meets batman arkham I love that mix!

I so far have really liked the game. Though it gets repetitive throughout every night I still somehow find a way to clear my map out before heading back to base even if it is agonizing….I seem to have some fun from it. I really do like it, Arkham is better, but as it’s own entity it’s a pretty good game

Maybe its a me problem, but I can't tell when something is running at 60 or 30 most of times, in anime or animation in general I can see when theres more fluid animation happening, maybe its just a tech 'n I'm actually not seeing 60 FPS, but in games I just can't tell at all, but if the FPS drops I'll notice the stuttering

Your gameplay is a reflection on your overall review about Gotham Knights; it isn't good. I'd think combat was clunky too if all I had to go off was your gameplay. Let's not forget how Arkham Knights (aka The Batmobile Sim) was received at release. I don't understand the recent praise that game has been getting since the release of Gotham Knights. That game makes Gotham look bright and whimsical and the freeflow combat is flighty and weightless. But, to each his/her own.

This game is quite complex if you don’t take the time to learn to play it you will definitely be frustrated with it. It’s not a button masher like Arkham you actually have to learn the intricacies of it.

I'm really disappointed with Gotham knights like batman arkham knight came out in 2015 and it still looks way better than Gotham knights. I really don't like the level system and I also like the combat system of arkham knight more than Gotham knights

The comparisons are natural these games are set in the same mythos. Those fans saying we shouldn't compare are out of their minds. Co-op and superhero games don't mix games like Avengers and Gotham knights are more proof. The only reason suicide squad has my interest is because of the option to play single-player with the AI assisting you if it's competent enough and that it's described as a narrative driven action shooter with optional co-op. Arkham and Spiderman are the best for a reason as they open these games up to more innovative mechanics. I love batman he's my favorite superhero of all time arkham city is my favorite game of all time I am a hardcore arkham fan and I have 0 interest in getting this generic co-op rpg looter brawler gear oriented game. Hope WB gets the message this co-op crap doesn't work and they stick to the single-player Action adventure formula.

The graphics and performance for the most part I could care less about since I play pc, I should be able to scale down settings (I'm downloading it while I'm at work so I haven't played yet.) The first thing I've noticed in your review that would bug me is the take down damage. That will probably annoy me a ton. I gotta be honest though. I'm going to try and give it a fair shake because I haven't really seen much that would kill the fun for me. But then again I'm slightly above casual as a gamer. So I tend to enjoy things even if the majority of reviewers tend to hate it. I guess I'm just easily pleased lol. Great review though, really informative!

Not gonna lie, even after looking at all the issues, this game still looks fun. It's a shame that it's so meh. I wouldn't mind playing it, but like Chi Guy says, I wouldn't pay full price for this game. I honestly feel like picking up the Arkham series for PS4, until this game's price goes down, or just play something better I guess lol

So disappointed with how watered down Red Hood is, this is a far cry from Under The Red Hood.

Game is actually fun. I am playing through it, and I find it enjoyable. It isn’t perfect, frame rate still drops time to time, but the game can be enjoyable. And that’s more than one can say about a dozens of games out there.

I played through it twice. Not bad,but it need some improvement.

I keep telling people to just wait on the 60fps patch on consoles… a game like this would be wayyyyy more enjoyable, in 60fps…half of the complaints coming from console players , is stemming from the 30fps … Look at God of war Ragnarok, they have 30fps mode and 3 performance modes.. I even think they have a 60fps mode on ps4… Gotham Knight devs are shit for announcing this was next gen and pc only and still not able to implement a stable 60fps or 30fprs on either ...

I never liked anything batman or dc related but after playing this game with my friend and having such genuine fun my voice started to go, I like the batfam except batman because that will never change but Redhood, Batgirl, Nightwing and Robin i actually like now

So I understand the whole anti hero bit with Red Hood. But I don't understand why Batgirl, Nightwing, and Robin would be so anti-cop. I'm guessing it's some ACAB shit by the dev. Either way, regardless of this, the game looks like hot garbage wrapped in 12 pounds of shit.

yes, the fights are essentially the same, the missions are terrible (they did try to put the bonus thing on from other games but it's dreadful), don't get me started on the time trails... or the "jump" button... sometimes it works, sometimes you're beside the smallest tiniest little block and you can't jump on it. you have to either go around or use grapple. it's just awful. or my favourite lie "if you use triangle the enemy won't hear you" 1) the enemy hears you 2) the animation is so long, unless the AI is set to very easy, they will also see you 70% of the time. what sums it up if you're on the fence... a door won't open unless you use your ****y AR reticule to highlight mr freezes footprints and then the door magically shows green. It's THAT bad. couldn't even make the logs you find be listened into as you play. nope gotta listen to them on the batcomp. and ONLY the bad comp. sigh

Coming from Arkham knight , this game is shitty af . Don’t waste your money on it, the mechanics feel like a ps3 game and combat system is so slow and it doesn’t even feel like an action game, also the characters are limited and feel like incomplete

I'm enjoying it, it's not a Batman Arkham game if you can wrap your head around if thats possible you can start to enjoy it

My biggest gripe with the game honestly is just 2 things. 1, the Court of the Owls being marketed as the primary antagonist of the game but then like Black Mask they’re sidelined for villains we’ve already seen twice in a Batman-like game. 2nd, the lack of any new villains who haven’t been used before. Batman has a large rogues gallery of enemies and this game gave us villains that have already been done in other games.

OK so I started playing this game and so far I’m not liking the animation. This has to have a 60 FPS it’s not looking good in my opinion . Especially the opening scene.

it's short with not a whole lot of things to do. For a batman universe game, it's short for a 2022 experience and left to be desired.

I don’t get the intro. A game being last or cross gen is much easier to get 60 fps in as it is less demanding. 60 fps is not a ‘next gen feature’. We had a bunch of 60 fps games with the PS2, even a few N64 games were 60 fps. As we leave cross gen and games get more demanding, it will be less likely games will hit 60. At least not without downgrades to visuals beyond just resolution. And people are already complaining about some games ‘only’ being 1080p 60 or not ‘looking next gen’. The hardware is already aging with PC over 2 gens ahead of console again with the recent GPU releases. Engine upgrades, and the fact that console has historically preferred to push visual envelopes over performance, because visuals sell with casual gamers who make up most of the market, will outpace the hardware and I expect a return to 30 fps the deeper into the gen we get. The hope is FSR and other techniques can help mitigate this somewhat, but there is only so much the consoles can do on 2019 hardware. Gotham Knights is another story in why it is 30 fps. But, to say that it should be performing better because it’s not on last gen systems is backwards. It will definitely perform better and hit 60 more often if it is last or cross gen. Which is why Ragnarok can hit up to 120 fps. The game was designed from the ground up for PS4. Meaning PS5 can run it much better than if it were a full ground up PS5 game.

The fact that his game graphically looks like a really good PS4 gen game, but only runs at 30 fps on a PS5; is inexcusable. If it looked like a PS5 game with graphics that cannot compare; then maybe it would make sense for 30fps; but not when it looks like a PS4 game (and there is no PS4 version to boot)!

Dude this game is great. Is it the best Batman game? No , but this is the best Batman game you can play with your friends. I'm glad we have this game and now at least they have a base to build up on. Hopefully Gotham Knights 3 will be exactly like Arkham Knight but with Co-op.

Honestly I’ve been playing the game just by myself. Even though playing by myself is kinda ruining the whole point of the game, I still do it. I don’t think the game is horrible. Everything could definitely be better but I’m still having fun playing it. The story is actually pretty good and they brought in some banger villains for the game.

i think everyone is a bit too harsh on this game yes the price tag might be a little steep but the game is a lot of fun. i guess i just didnt have huge expectations for this being a super hero game

I think Avengers and Gotham Knights both look like absolute ass and said it for both way before each came out. Glad to never have played either of these. Saved myself money and time.

It’s literally sitting at “Mostly Positive” on Steam. Also, let’s not pretend like every review for the game was bad. Heck, some reviewers gave the game an eight. It must not be that bad of game compared to all these RU-vid videos saying it is. It’s not perfect, buts it’s also far from the worst game out there.

Two completely different studios, and they even stated is it NOT connected to Arkham at all and is in a completely different universe.
