Something max didn’t mention about the online, after a match is over you can request a room match. I repeat you can run it up with a person some more as easy as 123 if both people agree after rank match. This is something needed in more fighting games
SNK spazzed, they put a lot of love and charm into this game and it shows with the artwork in the ending cutscenes and the unlockables/secret teams, the introductions in story mode and just overall the game is just a great package
@@legendredux1291 only the secret endings are voiced which is just out of place because it means they could've had the voice actors do it for all of them.
@AP I know by the nature of your comment this was nowhere near the intention, but I suggest you avoid the term “spaz” as it’s a slur in British culture.
Max is absolutely right about not being discouraged when playing this game, and getting used to it's unique feel. Please don't mistake it's uniqueness for difficulty, and I'm not saying that it's any easy game, but I'm definitely saying that once you understand (and there's enough stuff on RU-vid to get you to that point) you will be glad you took the little time it takes grasp what this game is offering.
@@arod6079able It actually has less buttons. Street fighter has a six button layout going light, medium, heavy for both punch and kick. While King of Fighters only has four with light punch, light kick, heavy punch, heavy kick; so in that regard it is easier. Executing specials is practically the same though, with a few differences
I have all 22 The King Of Fighters games. This definitely is the easiest one to get into & learn. It still isn’t an easy game though. I’m pretty trash in all Fighting Games but I definitely am enjoying this game so much. It’s a 9.5/10 for me. There shouldn’t be any hesitation in picking this one up if you’re looking for a new Fighting Game or getting into one for the first time.
I quit playing all fighting games when sf5 was a let down. I think kof15 is bringing me back. Super hyped to pick this up. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
@@jiggs677 This game has 39 different Characters & all of them are different in my opinion so there should be a few Characters that will fit you. By the end of April this game will have 45 Characters on the Roster. That’s more than what Street Fighter V has that took them 5 years to finish. & this game will exceed that in 2 months. LOL! So it pretty much gives you the bang for your buck. The single player has a lot for you to unlock. SNK has a great history when it comes to their Music, so unlocking Music on the DJ Station from the Story mode is worth it & being able to change the music for each stage if you like.
I must admit my fav part of this launch is all the dbfz kids getting into it and getting WRECKED because this takes actual execution and then seeing them trash the game because they suck
Man it's probably one of my favorite games in the series already. I absolutely love it, been having a hard time taking a break from it, i'm addicted. As a longtime KOF fan it's exactly what i was hoping it would be. I couldn't be happier with it. The improvement across the board from KOF 14 is outstanding.
I absolutely hate labbing, since I'm an OG I usually play new versions of KOF by ear since the "legacy skill" Max is talking about in this video is very real. I yet spent the whole afternoon in the training mode because I was having fun.
@@ACSMEX me too!!! You can't make me lab for any other game, but I have sunk hours into labbing Kyo and Ramón already for KOF across the series, 15 is no exception. Hell, I'm even labbing characters I might not play in 15, because I was so curious about Ángel.
@@ACSMEX Lmao I’ve had it since Tuesday and I spent 96.% on training mode just trying to do whacky shitt it’s so much fun pulling 70 hit combos with yashiro
The only thing missing is a few characters. And a couple characters in the roster could use a few more of there old moves back. Like I wish they'd give the command moves back to Andy. He just doesn't feel like himself without his overhead. Obviously I would like his other moves back as well but then he might be to OP. I don't really like that they took away Ralph's command throw. And I think that Ryo is two vanilla butt at least they finally made why his command normal cancelable into specials. But a lot of the cast feels perfect. Some of the nerfes maybe are good.
Are you implying it doesn't have popularity outside of there? Wait till you find out that the highest viewed fighting game tournament of all time is the Chinese KOF97 Doyou cup.
This is my first time I'm actually learning how to play a KOF game and I freaking suck at it haha BUT, dude I'm having so much fun. There's something about finally landing a combo in KOF that is so immensely satisfying compared to other fighting games. Also I love how this game looks. The overall presentation is an outstanding step up from KOF14.
Yeah I feel like it is because the input leniency is not as loose as other games. When a game just lets you have a free combo from effectively button mashing at random, is it really that much of an achievement lol KOF was the first fighting game I got into seriously about a year ago, so I was Pretty Bad and it would take me many tries to get the timing finally right. But oh my god the sense of satisfaction... I can now do an 8 hit combo with Kyo, and am super cancelling all over everyone with Ramón, it feels fantastic every time
Btw idk if u know yet but there's things like "holding down the button to increase the timing window", whiff cancelling, shortcuts (for example if you take Iori and do QCF P and HCB P in one continuous motion, it will read the 2nd button as QCF HCB P, letting you super cancel his fireball into his Ya otome super. A lot of the trials in the game become a lot easier with shortcuts. U can do it!
Awesome to hear from an Xbox player wanted to get this game on my Xbox series console because I wanted to play the next-gen version of the game,I don't own a PS5 yet and I didn't know if the community was there
Been wanting a good 2D fighter on Xbox for a while now. Bummed SF5 is PS exclusive. I did buy KoF 15 couple days ago for Xbox and it looks and plays really, really well. Hoping to find my team this week and hit up the online soon.
This KOF was my first of 3 things. My first 3D KOF, my first KOF I've ever played on console and my first game I've ever pre-ordered. And I'm so grateful I did.
Agreed!! I'm a 98 and 97 player as well, and I'm really LOVING 15. It's a little different, but it's REALLY fun. Plus it's GREAT seeing my characters again!!!
My thoughts exactly! Truly the best time to get into the game! Netcode is the best it’s ever been on PC, and the fact that dlc isn’t going to be a long wait is great! I personally feel snk did good on this one!
Max really just discouraged most of the people from buying KoFXV (considering most people here likely don't have a current gen gaming pc just a playstation), while failing to mention that the ps4 version has lower input lag than the ps5 version, or that you can play the less laggy ps4 version even on the ps5. The difference between the ps4 and the pc version is the same pretty much every fighitng games had this gen. It's really not that big of a deal that half of your video should be dedicated to "why you shouldn't buy this game on the only platform you likely have access to"
@@noodleknight7924 I can definitely see your point. I actually brought the PS4 and PC version, as I don’t have a 5.. and I honestly feel that, even though he said what he said, at the end of the day, you can still form your own opinion as to which version will be best for you. The 4 version doesn’t have the input lag the 5 has, as I witnessed at my friends house. But again, I just felt it was just his overall opinion, not the Bible, you know?
@@dockgamer973 most of the pc userbase doesn't have modern gaming PCs and mostly plays low requirement games like lol or csgo it's not impossible that max's userbase happens to have more players on PC but even then I assume the ps4 userbase would't be far off, and he is definitely discouraging this half of his viewerbase from buying KoF XV, even though the game has a better or the same input lag that most other FGs have on ps4.
@@noodleknight7924 actually you are wrong about that, that came from a steam survey that only some people did, you know the pc gameing user base is around 2 billion and only something like 150 million are on steam, so what you are saying is completely impossible to know, it tends to be something console fanboys tell themselves to feel better but it's completely untrue.
As a long time KOF fan, KOF 15 is my favorite game so far! I’m started with Fatal Fury when I was little, and was hooked ever since. The characters like Terry Bogard, Duck King, Joe Higashi, Mai Shiranui, King, and Kyo Kasunagi are my mains! 🔥🏋🏾♂️ 🎮
I agree with Max! While fighting games getting so streamlined, KOF has its identity, its not super hard to get into it, ppl shouldn't be afraid of its legacy, yes ppl like .e who played every one of them might have it easier but every game you must learn its mechanics, its fast paced and have deep mechanics but its so freaking good! In XV the effects, arts on story mode, characters designs & interactions, the small details for fans, gameplay, just amazing , i disagree with max that the roster isn't that great, i think 39 is a lot and in may they will be 45 which is nuts, most fighting games don't have that, KOF have that legacy and i am happy its celebrated by everyone , its not easy to stay relevant and alive for 20 years or more and SNK did it! KOFXV looking to be the game that everyone jump into and i have it sells more and more, i am love their marketing so much with it, game looks and plays fantastic, can't praise its art and feel enough, just play KOFXV ppl! Its most probable the easiest KOF to date, it can't get easier cuz this series is dense and that speaks volumes to how well designed it is! But its great for newcomers too so just deep dive ppl, KOF isn't like any other fighting game and that's an SNK thing! There's so much charm and love on this game as always and I am so happy for that, hopefully it will sell super well!
I guess it depends on the game you used to play. Like I spent so much time training myself not to constantly jump around in SFV and now I see people just hopping around in KOF and it looks weird.
I have dabbled in KOF in the past, but very much a light experimenting. I was playing one of my friends on Thursday, and he's been playing on and off for years, and was KICKING MY BUTT up and down the street. I was playing GG Strive, and those skills are very much not working in my favor. KOF has a very unique feel FOR SURE, so I can tell it will take me a minute to get fully adjusted to the game. Looking forward to it!
@@blockchainballer4542 No kidding! It's funny, I've played a few other SNK fighting games more extensively, and even with those KOF still feels pretty different.
This game was built for online and tournaments. I love it so much. The story/ending bits are pretty nice but it definitely plays like a traditional KOF game which is not a bad thing. I love the distinct nature of the KOF games to the point that it has its own unique style where you know you’re going to get the mechanics of a SNK fighter and not a Capcom Street Fighter title. When I first saw KOF XIV/KOF XV, I was worried that the titles would be too similar to SF IV/SF V but man was I wrong. KOF XV is just an absolute blast to play and I bought both versions and I agree that the Xbox version feels like a completely different game. It’s definitely faster but I felt the visuals on the PlayStation version were a bit more crisp, vibrant, and polished with slightly better audio. The PS version was about 60 GB to download whereas the Xbox version was about 33 GB. I will be playing both versions - sadly, there is currently no cross play. I really am excited about the future of KOF.
FighterZ brought me to the FGC I played past games but never online competitive. KOF and MVSC were always my favorite and decided this would be the best time to learn kof mechanics. It’s hard but it feels damn good and satisfying landing combos
3v3 each player controlling someone online is something that definitely one of my favorite types of modes in fighting games, keep giving me reasons to play with friends and I'll buy the game 🔥
I used to do that locally with friends in CvS2 and KoF XI on PS2. Super fun. I'd argue it worked the best in CvS2 because it also had the ratio system. Since I was better than my friends at the game, I could intentionally handicap myself to give them a better chance and make matches more intense. :)
This isn’t my first kof, 13 was. But as someone getting back into it some of the motions were giving me a bit of trouble until I realized and this is a tip for newer players, you have more time for inputs than you might think
I'm garbage at this game as it's my first KoF. Having a ton of fun learning Angel though. But I see this taking at least twice as long as Strive to get decent at.
Welcome to KOF! Also it's pretty much takes more time to learn Angel, because she is considered as the one of the hardest fighting game character that ever created
I need Shingo, and Heavy D. In 98 and 2002 those 2 were almost always on my team. Also, these are things that helped me out as a noob in KoF, maybe they can help some other noobs get the feel, because its an amazing series. 1 - learn to combine motions. Like this - if its qc+p and the next move is double qcf+k, the initial qcf counts as the 1st qcf for the 2nd move. you don't have to do three qcf motions for this example, just two. (that example is not real, just an easy way to explain it) This is done all over KoF combos and cancels. 2 - Learn to hold your input command for a move for just a fraction of a second, don't just tap the buttons. It's like you have to really commit to what you are doing, that's how it feels. The game has a lenient buffer and if you hold your input just the tiniest bit, it will continue to register and come out at the right time. You don't have to be nearly as exact as you think you do because of this. Don't plink the buttons fast like in MK or SF, really commit to the button you are hitting for just a fraction of a second. I'm not saying hit it hard or anything, but don't just tap it super quick, just a fraction of commitment to your button will help the move come out right.
Huh, does that "combine motions" trick actually work? I think this is the first time I've heard about it, but it sounds like a very useful trick. They really don't "erase" previously input qcf (to follow your example) even if you actually execute it, it really just "stays in the buffer" for future follow-ups? And I presume it's only for moves that are the exact same as far as execution goes?
@@goranisacson2502 Yup, sure does! Easy example from 2002UM - Joe Tiger Kick (6, 2, 3+k) into Ougon no Tiger Kick (2, 3, 6, 9+k) The 2 and 3 overlap so you can just do 6, 2, 3+k, 6, 9+k as one continuous input and it will cancel the TK into the OnTK. In order to wrap my head around it I just had to start thinking of cancels as one big continuous motion with a couple button presses. Basically think of them as separate moves entirely, motion wise, from their individual versions. Combined with the holding of the final input for just a few frames that I mentioned, it really just makes the game work, so to speak.
Love this new KOF, haven't been this invested in a fighting game since I first played Melty Blood Act Cadenza back in 2008 when Family Fun Arcade was still open. Always been a fan of KOF since '95, but didn't get heavy on it till I played Dreammatch '99 on Dreamcast (basically '98). Max is right, if you don't have any legacy chops, this game might be a bit hard to get into. But it is easier than previous KOFs. Just be patient and keep going! Learn your characters in and out and get comfortable with them, get those bread and butter combos down! And I'm happy as hell I can put Andy and Chris on the same team again! Messing around with Elisabeth but don't think she's gonna be my third. Gonna wait until B.Jenet come through since she's my main on Garou!
This is my first time playing KoF even though I've been following the series since 94. I've never used a charge character in my entire history of playing fighting games but I'm pretty determined to main Ash. Wish me luck!
@@hardinal2599 Thanks! I was pretty frustrated when I first tried him in training mode but it's getting somewhat easier the more I stick to it. It's small progress but progress none the less. 😁
@@RadiantNightmare87 Cool! And yes, i understand that feeling when the first time playing too, and don't worry, that small progression is one of the crucial thing that we need in a learning step. I believe in you can mastered this game in no time, so keep it up on it!
Ash is the only charge character I've ever mained in my 20 somethin years of playing fighting games. He's so damn cool and I hope you have as much fun as I've had with him!
because of work i couldnt play too much yet, but this game brings me a smile in the face everytime i spend some time with it, to me does not feel like a "new game" is more like revisiting a dear old friend, just to learn he is doing great in life and he is more fun than you remembered. I like the initial roster and the first 6 characters announced was a jaw dropping moment, i was so happy that i could not help myself and flood the sh** out of that video comment session. Im truly happy, the King is back!
And I saw a few people today say this ain’t that good of a KoF, that it’s below average. I have no words for them, nor do I have any for this game. It’s spectacular and SNK put so much love into this game.
I started with XIII and yea this game takes time getting use to. If you're new to KOF and want to get the gist of everything, Max says a couple of days, I say a couple of months or even years 🥴
@@lubufengxian1828 I think the systems translate well with the characters. On the old old games you always had to have super tight motions and felt like the neo geo/emulator was about to explode at any moment.
Maybe not a couple of years... I have been playing any fighting games seriously for 10 months and started with KOF. I have been doing fine for a while already, but definitely recommend new people looking up guides online to find out the tricks.....
In seeing A LOT of new people trying KoF for the first time and I'm very very happy about it, I hope everyone enjoy this new KoF, it's a great game If youre new in the game try to master the jumps/movement! It will help you a LOT
I’m new to kof never really got into it even tho when I was a kid I had all the fatal fury games and art of fighting but kof 15 just looks so good so I decided to give it a try
Im glad Max touched on how alot of fighting games feel like arcade ports. It seems like the newer the game the more they strip away from the single player offerings. Lol
I know it's not gonna happen, but now we are talking about multiverse I would like to see a special episode where we can choose fight against the previous bosses from kof saga.
yep. been playing since 1994 and this is definitely the easiest to get into. game play comparable to 97/98/2002um. snk copied the parts that people liked in those games and implemented them in 15. if this was released back in the old days, the machine at the arcade would have had an epic line of tokens/quarters.
Hi there brother, we might have played back then if you were playing in SM Mega Mall, Star Mall/Manuela, Shangrila. KOF95 and KOF97 really had long lines back then. Sadly on 98 I don't go out to the arcades that much since playing more PC games. Counter Strike, Starcraft, Ragnarok.....
It's wild to me that the command list didnt take a note from strive and include demos/descriptions of what the move does. Just some random name, icons if it's air ok, and the input.
Ángel was the biggest laugh to me. I did not have her flowchart on hand, but I am pretty sure you can't just link any move into any other one, so I looked at the movelist for a grand total of 15 seconds and just hopped into trials to see if they would give me examples of what the heck to actually do.
I was planning Vanessa and accidentally did her DP and reflected a fireball and it would have been nice to know it did that instead of accidentally stumble across it
KoF XV is definitely my second favorite game in the series(It’ll take A LOT to beat KoF2002UM), gameplay is amazing, soundtrack + dj station is great, roster is great, netcode is mostly great, im happy AF to be a KoF fan rn
I like how the camera distance made the opposite change compared to KOFXII and KOFXIII. XIII has a more zoomed-out camera compared to XII, but XV has a more zoomed-in camera than XIV.
Regarding the PS5 input delay issue, apparently it’s more of an issue with Unreal Engine 4. Hopefully Epic fixes it soon, even if SFVI is likely switching to the RE Engine.
Thank you for the review and sticking with the KOF train for so long Max, glad you're liking the game. Hoping for more great KOF games in the future ^^
I'm kinda done with gratuitous crossovers, I'm glad KoF just feels like KoF and it has a lot of KoF characters that need to return before we need to get to any characters that don't even have any business being there
SNK realigned themselves with xiv and xv. Seeing where the game is heading, SNK is back after all those pitfalls from the prior games they've done (I'm looking at you KOF XII).
Man I’m having so much fun with King of Fighters XV, the sweet ass roster, crispy visuals and stupid amount of charm in character animations and character endings is crazy and characters like Terry, Geese, Omega Rugal, Rock and Geese alongside Yuri, Mai and Blue Mary are so fun and just enough single player content to keep myself and players busy for a longtime with multiple endings, being able to unlock music from every KOF game that came before, and even from Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Samurai Shodown and music from the Neo Geo and SNK’s history makes me want to go back and play it more! Thank you Max for recommending this game to me and thank you SNK for making me a KOF fan and am looking forward to the next wave of DLC characters!
Just bought the Xbox version yesterday. Been practicing a lot. Happy to hear it’s a bit better than the other platform versions! Excited to meet you online Warriors out there!
Thank you for your wise words! I've been thinking about getting this game because it looks really fun but wasn't completely sure if I should buy it because I'm fairly new to fighting games. But after what you said, I am definitely going to give it a go! Now if only I had a PC...
I think it's an absolutely fantastic game. There is a character for everyone, the Online is great, and the gameplay is massive upgrade from what 14 offered. If they can get this weird input lag issue fixed, and consistent across all platforms I think this might be the greatest KOF of all time.
I loved the game, maybe not as much as KOF 2000 but pretty sure that is one of the best KOF, I never thought Iori could be any more good but he's amazing in this game and Athena is so much cooler in this game too, I hope to see at least 30 more DLC characters, because the game deserves to be played for years like SFV
I’m happy with the direction SNK is taking KOF. I think the roster could be a bit better, but I think it does a good job covering the generations of the series. I have the PS5 version however, and I do not have a good PC to run the game. I also appreciate the single player content. I see some people complaining saying it’s lacking, but I like doing arcade runs to unlock the canon endings, secret endings, and soundtracks. Based on the roadmap for DLC, I think the roster is going to be awesome. Ultimately, I enjoy the game as a whole, and look forward to the DLC. I will say, I hope there’s more plans for alternate costumes as DLC. I also want more soundtracks added (or even just arranged soundtracks of the existing ones).
Picked by copy for my PS4. Omega Edition. The goodies included are fantastic, game is fluid, soundtrack is amazing, love love it. I have not played online yet, just enjoying the offline content for now. But definitely will try it sometime soon. XV is a must buy
it also has some "basic" features that you like to see. Like you can disable pause button in tournament settings, contrast background settings and tournament offline mode where you can have each player name ingame. Pretty cool. Small stuff, but when you dont have those in your game it hurts
you can see SNK really want to get into the competitive side and it shows on their official Twitter by how much tourneys around the world they are supporting
Picked up KOF98 on Steam with my friend a few months ago, absolutely fell in love with it. I'm currently doing a backpacking trip but once I get home I'm definitely going to have to pick KOFXV up
You should do a video explaining the playstyle of different fighting game franchises (The playstyle of SF, KOF, Tekken, the MvC games, SSB, etc.) To help us better understand what we need to focus on when playing them. I remember trying to play KOF as of it was a SF game when I first found out about it.
Can u imagine if SNK does that thing that NRS has done to MK + Injustice, and starts pumping out KOFs and Samshos. It would be awesome if Samsho gets the same treatment that KOF just got and gets a new version (4-5years from now) with great netcode + touch ups to 3D models and artstyle. Anyway its great to see your gameplay experience being about the game instead of being about the netcode and that in itself is a major victory for SNK. So keep it up! SNK. Also I hope we get to see SNK releasing some alternate costume packs, if the community sticks around it would make sense to make such an investiment
Tekken 6 had a very different campaign mode that was very refreshing for me. It felt so good running through obliterating mobs of enemies and so on. I would like to see more of that from fighting games.
Thoughts on ps4 version or would you say it’s similar to your ps5 review? I’m new to KOF so I’m excited to see and learn more about the series and it’s mechanics etc. love your vids too!!!
@@RSFArocks Yeah, I'd heard the PS4 version is in between the PS5 and PC versions. So, I'd guess it's probably at where the Xbox versions are? I don't know, the last Xbox I had was the original, lol.
I love the damn game, like there isn't that much offline content but my girl and I have been doing story with all the teams and found out there are hidden movies and songs you can only unlock by playing specific teams. Finding those teams to see their movies and getting deep into the lore of this KOF has been a blast! Also PC netcode is fantastic thank you SNK and thank you Maxwell Powers for making the announcer lines so sick! "If you wanna know how to win, THIS is the person to ask!" like WHAT!? hahaha
Enjoying this. What's even more awesome is my old high school friends have it as well and we used to play the old KOF games in the arcades in the 90s and early 2000s. So playing this has been one of the ultimate nostalgia trips whilst still being something new.
I'm Bit upset at the pc version of the game so much so I tried to return it but my request got denied so I'm stuck with the game. I honestly feel like I shouldn't have to alter the games files outside the game to get the best playing experience. So it needed to be optimized better in my opinion. I also ran into an issue when people would throw out random normal and I'm on the other side of the screen and it would force me to block. The issue was the rollback was saying I was closer so on their screen I'm being hit on my screen i'm far away in the corner and i'm getting opened up by random crap. I did a safe jump to read a DP and I still got hit by the DP. I really had alot of high hopes for the game and since i'm stuck for it I have to grind it out and see it through and hope they patch it
I couldn't "jump" into KOF yet because I'm having connections issues even to this day, I hope they get solved soon and look for lobbies for some casual matches while I get better at the game. I really want to get good with Ash Crimson, and Roberts Garcia, and this might the first time I try learning multiple character outside my "mains". I'm also excited to play this game on march because I'll put together my first ever fightstick(hitbox) and I'll play this and Blazbluem it'll be great times!
Definitely excited to play this. Once I'm finished dusting up what is left of UMVC3 online I'll strut onto this one and hand out a couple of beatdowns.
11:34 For me, if party mode is gonna be a thing, I think this game should add the tag system from KOF XI. That way at least players aren't gonna have to wait for their turn in a match online, though I can understand that that would make things difficult because of having 6 players in a single match already is difficult depending on their connection, and then having these 6 players be able to tag-in by themselves would indeed cause problems, but hey that's party mode for ya...
Well the thing is, one of the biggest reasons why kof fans didn't play 2003 or kof XI is the tag system. KoF fans don't want a tag game. Kof is kof, 3v3, one character at a time
Maybe some of you will understand, but playing this game since KOF 1994 and see it change and evolve through so many years is something I can’t put into words. I was 10 years old and there was a local baker who would make a little extra money with 2 or 3 arcades… fyi this was in Mexico… I’ll never forget the way I felt when I first saw Kyo…. I still get chills when I see the character and KOF 15 is true to its legacy
Wanted to get in since 14 but the super motions were daunting but now that I’m more comfortable with motions and am able to perform them I feel like I’m not missing out on anything hoping I’m on 15
I have confidence on playing with all the Fatal Fury and Garou fighting characters since they're the most I ever played before with all KoF versions, and they never changed anything out of the extraordinary except for the combos you can do on each mechanic which is awesome and makes me feel happy.
Almost half of all menu options are for online gameplay support - like wow; yeah, they are serious about the online presence and community for KoF. Pretty awesome. SNK & Playmore are aggressive when developing their franchises thus net-code improvements are no surprise and were most certainly needed- they've never treated their communities as numbers prefixed with a dollar sign so a smooth, progressive system with an accessible presence is also a realistic expectation and has been proven to my satisfaction so far. Make an excellent product and let it sell itself - long-term success. KoF is almost 30 years old (right on par with SF & MK) - says something to me. Excellent vid.
Yea this game is very different from the others and even other fighting games which makes this makes this game more interesting to me I’m really enjoying it and just learning the new mechanics on this game keeps me wanting to play more and learn more.
The Reality of Fighting games on PlayStation Vs. Xbox is that Xbox has always ran them better since the Dawn of the PS3. That's just how it goes.... But! Obviously Performance doesn't mean much in the face of... What? Brand Loyalty coupled with back end deals, stacked on top of the PS4 Hardware Domination.... It's all good. I get it and it makes it easier to accept when you hear the nod given to Xbox.... Just that little Acknowledgement is all that's needed. Fighting games need a Option for Enabling and Disabling Cross Play... That why Gamers could feel more free and still connected.
So, Omega Edition for Series X is worth adding to the collection? I have not really loved KOF since 94 (played the others a bit, but 94 is my favorite), but would like to okay this one if the presentation is as memorable. I still remember hearing the Mexico (AOF) theme in 94 for the first time.
I personally feel like King of Fighters 14 feels easier but it comes down to buttons. I find myself changing the buttons and trying to find what fits and I have the PlayStation 5 version maybe it's a PS5 thing. I only played like 3 or 4 games on PlayStation 5 since I got it on launch and King of Fighters 15 is fun and one of my favorite games on the PlayStation 5. Cool video. ^_^
Yeah. The v-sync in game was driving me mad with the tear across the middle of the screen. Funnily enough, not only did turning v-sync on in the control panel get rid of the huge tear, it also stopped the issue with the music cutting in and out at random times.
I do appreciate your thoughts and insights when it comes to fighting games. How do you think the game's longevity will fare with how packed this month is with new releases?
I bought this game for £49.99 I am from the UK and I was dissapointed only because the online ranked match is dead and you seem to wait ages for a fight if your lucky to get a fight online at all and I cant understand why as its a new fighting game I feel like I have wasted my money as I bought this to tie me over till the release of Street Fighter 6 and I noticed there is no Kim Kaphwan
Street Fighter player here having an absolute BLAST with KOF. Love it. Netcode is awesome, I'm getting matches one after the other within seconds (UK PC)
King of Dinosaurs is my main, I never played this game ever and currently have about 50 losses. But after 15hrs I am finally winning some games. I love this game being an avid Tekken and Street Fighter player. It takes a while to learn but force yourself to play Any Rank and try to understand your tool kit for your character.
The thing about KOF for me is the fun factor and KOF XV have tons of it. And the Series X controller works great, the d-pad is excellent. XV sets a great foundation to build on, especially the weak single player part.
I think the roster is one of the best, almost as good as the one from 2002 UM. But I totally agree with you that fighting games should have more content, for example that's one of the reasons why Street Fighter Alpha 3 on console is one of my favorite fighting games, besides Arcade, versus or training, it has quite a few modes like World Tour, Dramatic Battle and a lot of Survival modes, is not just a port and that gives the game a lot of life.
I really want crossplay. Unfortunately I don't have money for a decent pc and want to keep ejoying the game on my series S. Come on SNK, you need to hear us!
Been playing since Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury. It's a fun game. It has moved the series forward as well. Though I miss Choi , Kim and Chang I gotta say this 9s my fourth favorite behind 98 Ultimate,2002 Ultimate and 96. I already beat the game with the Fatal Fury team. Next up is The Art of Fighting team. Times have changed , and KOF 15 has changed with the times
I ended up buying 15 after asking people if it was worth it for a first time kof player in one of your videos a couple days ago and I gotta say... *I am so unbelievably terrible at it.* I could barely do the mission trials for terry who is probably way simpler than most of the cast after an hour or two of failing to do even basic motions and I still haven't memorized how combos work in this versus GG strive (the only FG I've put alot of time into and am pretty good at) It's all very frustrating but I'm gonna try and give it more time cause the game has heart and I wanna enjoy it with everyone else Edit: of course the version I buy has the most delay built in. That really helps when you already have no idea what you're doing...ugh whatever
@@HunterForHire422 I would recomend to check out Rooflemongers KOF 15 basic tutorial videos on RU-vid. Some of the best beginner characters are: 1, Iori (fastest fireball, great DP, command grab and the best sweep in the game) 2. Robert (basic shoto like Ky with a command grab, can play on all ranges) 3. King (best zoner, spam Venom Strike and if the opponent comes close do her Tornado Kick) 4. Terry (simple gamestyle, does a ton of damage) 5. Andy (basic shoto) 6. Mai (simple gameplan) 7. Ralf (poke with stnding heavy kick, does a ton of damage) 8. Clark (if you like grapplers)
These were the 2 big things that made KoF click with me, maybe they will help you too: 1 - learn to combine motions. Like this - if its qc+p and the next move is double qcf+k, the initial qcf counts as the 1st qcf for the 2nd move. you don't have to do 3qcf motions for this example , just 2. (that example is not real, just an easy way to explain it) This is done all over KoF combos and cancels. 2 - Learn to hold your input command for a move for just a fraction of a second, don't just tap the buttons. It's like you have to really commit to what you are doing, that's how it feels. The game has a lenient input buffer and if you hold your input just the tiniest bit, it will continue to register and come out at the right time. You don't have to be nearly as exat as you think you do because of this. Don't plink the buttons fast like in MK or SF, really commit to the button you are hitting for just a fraction of a second. I' not saying hit it hard or anything, but do'nt just tap it super quick, just a fraction of commitment to your button will help the move come out right.
I hope they fix the PS5 version real soon. I have this game on PS5 and I can definitely vouch that it feels wonky, even training mode doesn't feel that good. I'll probably hold off playing online on this game until they patch it. Kind of a shame because I was excited to hop into it. I'm not going to buy another version of the game because SNK wasn't competent enough to make it work properly on a next gen console. They should fix it on PS5 ASAP!
