Honestly great idea!! Going forward im going to try plan videos better right now i just go in with an end goal, but in future im going to set myself like side goals like you mention think it will make them a lot more fun!
I did the same when I tried the Avars. Didn't even attempt to win the initial war. Invaded Slovenia and hybridized then we migrated to North Africa leaving the lands to a uncle. Good campaign.
don’t know if you saw my comment in your community post and if you did sorry for reposting, but theres an interesting character in the 867 start date that is a vassal of the zhetysu in central asia, he is a nestorian christian, would be really cool to see you try to get into the iranian struggle and end it as him, maybe even try to conquer all of the nestorian holy sites
I remember playing in Ireland, as a Duke, I married my daughter to a Welsh Prince, and he assaulted my daughter, I immediately demanded her return and went to take his lands from him. Attempting to purge his entire dynasty.
So funny, I just formed Pannonia with these guys last week. I set the Hungarian migration to historical in the settings so I had plenty of time to get to prep. Nice vid as always
I remember playing this game. I’d captured the ruling farther, son and mother. They were all, in that order, heirs. They had no money so I executed the farther and son, and took the win from the mother leaving her without her husband and son. This game can make you do some horrible things.
That "challenge for throne" thing is so annoying. I don't know exactly how it works but I guess it is some tribal thingy. Once I was trying the Mother of us all achievement and I was pretty close to conquering all of Africa. I was an 80 year old ruler with 0 prowess and a vassal challenged me for a duel. They won and immediately dissolved all the titles due to factions. All my work in 300+ years of play time was suddenly destroyed because I lost a duel. Sad times.
This inspired me to give the Avars a go and honestly being this close to Europe with horse archers should be illegal lmao. Opened up with my liege being conquered and then intentionally being converted to taltoism while I worked on yoinking all the titles from anyone who wasn't a vassal. Created a bunch of heirs and gave them the lands to maximize dynasty points and eventually overtook my liege and took the kingdom, spending all my gold on pilgrimages and hunts and stuff. Eventually took not 2, but 4 kingdoms, created an empire from them, hybridized my culture to get rid of the useless "ruling caste" tenant, and took a third holy site in the east to reform the religion and from that, feudalizing. It was really fun and cramped with lots of rivals in every direction. I'd give it a 9/10, would recommend.
great video ! this game never ceases to amaze incredible depth even though its straightforward . These secret religions and cultures make me wanna get on and revive some some 1500 year old civilization 😂
Funny thing is I was doing a Avar campaign on Xbox , tried to revolt against Bulgaria but for some reason they prioritized me, when the Mogyers took over I became a vassal of theirs but was still doing the revolt against Bulgaria, won with my Viking Allies and still got independence.. despite being a vassal of Hungary at the time. With my newfound freedom I invaded the western Balaton, then got a few revolts, holy war against me, survived somehow, join Hungary and became Taoesist (spelling error). Succession in which I became Jewish? Became their strongest most powerful vassal, using my claims to take over other vassals, Hungary divided itself in two, with one half taking Transylvania and forming the kingdom of Moldavia title and the rest being just Hungary (I ensure you I had no part in the death of the last king). Tried to subjugate Moldavia, failed cause succession, killed my brothers and half brother vassals, and then took the Hungarian throne with stewardship. Lots of stuff later and I formed Carpathia, or should I say, Avaria. Great video, Snap!
My idea woudlve been conquering balaton before the magyars win and going out from there, if I remember correctly they only conquer the specific land inside kingdom of hungary so youd still be left with smth, but although riskier, this one would make reviving it easier as youd have more than 3 provinces as your culture. Good job!
Good point! I was kinda hoping they would get the Byzantine alliance and manage to defend! Was also debating weather to keep reloading and just show how many reloads it took to get a good start but just decided to roll with what happened instead haha
I wish there was a resettlement/conquer mechanic for the Asian tribal rulers, like the Mogyars or Norse or at least a mod. Many times I wanted to start playing for them, but couldn’t stand it because of boredom in the region.
Oh, cool, i too played the avar campaign recently and saved the avar-bulgar-moroccan-cretan-bedouin-tamil culture and restored the roman Empire and Orthodox (true) christianity.
Hey man, would you try to play as Genghis Khan's ancestor? 😂 theyre located in the mongol heartland in 867. They started with a bast*rd on the throne, but if you lose a tyrani war, your mother (the ancestor of some of the biggest clan in mongolia, and one of them is Borjigin) can took the throne. She's old but she had 2 non bast*rd heir so the line can survive.
Its an easter egg character id say because she and her 5 sons are fron the folk stories of the mongol people, her sons would become the 5 arrows, the 5 clans of mongolia. Its either the first 3 or the last 2 sons, I forgot, but anyway, either 3 or 2 of them are conceived when she date a spirit 😂, it might be the 3 sons because theyre the "bast*rd" one
Honestly I have thought about starting as them a few times! I’m sure I will at some point though and try find something Interesting to do as them rather than just becoming the greatest of khans! But I don’t know much about the 5 arrows! Sounds interesting will look in to that!
@@SnapStrategy well I got an idea, why not form the Mughal? The Mughal empire once almost fully unite the Indian sub continent, and their dynasty traces back their origin to Genghis himself, Babur, the first ruler of Mughal are the grandson of great grandson of Timur from father's side and Genghis from his mother's side, and also Timur himself came from another great clan of Mongolia. So, my idea is, dont take the decision, just move into India, take their kingdom or just made your own. And instead of the greatest of the khans, became the chakravati (you need to unite all of india under buddhism, hinduism, or jain). As for the religion, you can either became a nestorian, many mongols and even in the borjigin family is nestorian, from Kublai mother, to the great khans of the ilkhanate are christians (well some of them would convert to islam or buddhism to apease their subject). Or you can make your own religion just like how the Mughal tried to hybridize Islam with Jain and Hinduism. For the culture, I think, the Hindustani one is better, you can form it by hybridizing Iranian or Turkic with Indo Aryan in northern India. So you can hybridize 2 times or convert to turkic/iranian and hybrid once.
I dont know what it is, but i love staring at maps, great colour choice btw also, i started this video when it came out, but only got half way til now 👍
I've done this before, you can just siege down all the Magyar Settlements til they lose, or if your character is learning you can go on a pilgrimage and then switch to Taltoism.

Day 3 asking snap strategy to play the fallen eagle mod at the 476 start date as romulus the last western roman emperor (also if someone who has played the fallen eagle mod can you tell me if romulus is in this mod?)
This is actually pretty easy with good RNG and Alliances. Declare independence right away, wait for allies then try to hit their army when its weakened from a battle with the hungarians with the goal of catching enough nobles or the king to force a peace before the hungarians can. Once you do that declare a subjugation war on the Magyars who will have lost their event troops and take favourable battles with the help of your allies to beat them down and claim the kingdom of Hungary ( change that shit back to Pannonia ). Now you just want to force religion and marry your heir off to an Arpad girl and with a few unfortunate deaths have his heir consolidate the realm.
Great vid as always! I'd like to see you playing as a state born from the dissolution of the Khaganate and slowly rebuild it to its glory! What do you think?
22:48 - you were tribal and had a claim on your liege’s title, so you could challenge them for it like in ck2, how many times were you in that situation as tribal in ck3 lol? Probably not enough to notice, so don’t worry too much about it
In one of my game (unfortunately on Xbox, i don't have a pc yet) i was the roman empire and my wife cheated me with the pope 🤣 after that i revoked all the land of the pope, imprisoned him , tortured him and at the end burned to a stake😂 oh and i imprisoned my wife for life and divorced her, no longer after that the pope changed and took a province in nowadays slovakia, the papacy in exile🤣🤣 (sry for bad English)
Historic hungarian invasion often doesn't fire at all (lack of prestige, always in war, raiding). It's much better to set it as immediate because of that issue.
