I love the way people find solutions for these kinds of problems. Challenger Andy's Smash no jump challenge has some crazy starts as well, that involve a similar approach.
I'm gonna be watching your career with great interest, as you've made an amazing start on youtube and you've been following up amazingly. I'm glad I could hit the ground running with you.
personally i managed to get 59 out of the 60 treasures in GCO with no jumping (...but yes mixing, so you'll have to do this yourself if you wanna know that. sorry!) edit: ay lads, just so we're clear: i'm a girl. feel free to keep calling me jacob though it's funny
@@SampleChample the one i was missing was the one where you iirc needed to be wheelie rider so you could go fast and jump at the same time. might have another do at it now that i know you can dismount wheelie without jumping (honestly, after going through the recording of it it'd probably be possible to do mixless too, the only barrier being my mental fortitude to do old tower again, but even worse this time)
after trying some more i have decided that it is, in fact, impossible to do without jumping. you could try to semantics and say that it's *wheelie* who is jumping and not kirby and thusly it shouldn't legally count but... well. a jump is a jump.
@@dumbfucksupreme1014 Oh dang that's interesting I wouldn't have thought that one to be the most difficult one, I'll have to look into it myself if I find the time.
Long review post because this video is a banger: I had stayed away from Kirby challenges because they seemed to just generally be ability-less, which just sounds boring, and/or locked by ability requirements like the pegs you break with hammer/stone or wicks you set on fire. This vid proved me wrong, and honestly, the strats used here are far better than what I probably would have come up with, so I'm glad you were the one to do it. And this video is awesome, especially on the visual editing side and script. Definitely keeping an eye out for your future content, especially if it's more challenge run stuff. One critique I want to make because the video is so awesome already is to separate your voice more from the background audio as well as speak a little slower, but that might just be a me thing. Some of your visual edits make me jealous; I really want to learn how to put "gravity" into my assets to throw or drop them across the stream, which you seem to be very good at. Your use of panning, zoom, and all the simple stuff is superb as well, inspires me to up my game. Your script and execution of it is awesome, I was laughing and excited in the first minute and already took a screen cap to use as a reaction image (major yikes situation). Fantastic job my guy.
Oh man thanks so much! And yeah, I'm still very new to using commentary in my videos in general, so I'll definitely be working to improve upon that. I'm also for sure planning on some more challenge runs of other games beyond Kirb, so more epic gaming content is underway.
@@SampleChample Your commentary is banger already, speed is the only thing which is something I struggle with as well. But it could just also be your style ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. But you got great inflection, great script, timing, script, honestly you're killing it!
Whenever I watch these types of videos, I’m always like wow. The developers made it so you had to jump here. So unthoughtful. I barely ever see any content for this game and having you analyze it like this is so fun!! Finally, some proper KSSU appreciation!!
You know, funny (and cruel) thing is this challenge would still technically be impossible even with mixing because of the Gourmet Race since it does not allow you to mix any abilities anyways because it only gives you copy essences. And you can’t make helpers because plot reasons between Kirby and Dedede, or drop one ability to mix with another ability since the first ability you drop immediately disappears upon getting another ability. You can only use one ability at a time.
Good gracious gods "I can make it rain." sent shivers down my spine I'm extremely impressed and slightly scared by the power on display here.... Incredible video as always!
You know, this is like the 4th or 5th time I have watched this video and I just now realized that sam holds his pen the same way I do. I always looked at the "hold pen normally" joke and chuckled, but I cannot believe it took me this long to realize that I have been laughing at myself this entire time.
How fast can you beat the game (minus Meta Knight's campaign) with copy abilities being finite. Saving copy abilities by turning them into helpers is allowed If you ever lose a copy ability for any reason (Get hit and lose the copy star, helper dies or switches copy ability, you finish the game mode (since you start the next one as normal Kirby)) then that particular copy ability is gone permanently
@@imakegachaclubvideos6323 Don't you start every room touching the ground? So, as at least as a minimum ground touch, the count is already as many as every required room.
This is literally the exact kind of content that I love watching. I'm very happy that you're getting the attention you earned from making that tas and are capitalizing on it by making some great tasing content
Sam, your commentary is amazing. I’ve always been so mystified by TAS runs, and you help to bring them down to earth, while also still blowing my mind. Hell, this is you playing and you still absolutely floored me with all the tips and tricks you have up your sleeve. Keep up the awesome work! I’ll definitely be tuning in for many videos to come ❤️
What a great Christmas present :D Love your commentary, editing, and problem-solving--you didn't give up after the first jump! Be well and keep pushing Kirby to his limits!
Sam I haven't seen this yet but I love your humor and commentary, and as a nerd that loves weird game mechanics and kirby super star, your commentated TAS videos are literally my lifeblood
I'm so excited to see this video, and I'm so happy you're gathering some attention for what you do. Seeing you blossom into a bit more content creation is amazing- You're very entertaining but to to-the-point, and talented with editing, while still fitting in a few memes. Incredible, and happy to be here!
KSSU was one of my childhood games and I cannot express how much your videos have helped me through a difficult time. Your TAS brought back memories of browsing True Arena TASes on old RU-vid. Thanks for everything :)
Glad to see another video from you so quickly. Editing in this video was great. Don't feel the need to stick to this game, I just watch for your commentary. You have a good mix of being comedic yet informative. Keep making a video like this every week or two and you should become very successful.
Love this content, could literally watch it for hours. Your editing style is very unique, and entertaining. I think you should try this kind of things with other Kirby games. Whatever you do I’m sure you’ll be great because this is awesome. Truly haven’t enjoyed a video, so much in long time.
Oh my, this is quality content ! Hoping you continue to make bangers like this, your commentated TAS was a treat but this video, with the promise of more like it to come, really is subscribe-worthy !
Sample you're not just the most entertaining TASer but it turns out your challenge video is the best I've seen in years??? Please, don't stop making content.
Your TAS abilities were always amazing, but your commentary style in particular is definitely improving each video! Your sense of humor is perfect, can't wait for more videos!
@@SampleChample the absolute worst are those that limit controls when you're in an area that would otherwise allow you to simply walk around the obstacle.
Yoooo!! I was just rewatching your commentated TAS for like the 20th time! Love to see youre making more stuff, and love the vid too! (also the tier list bit was funny but it’d actually be kinda cool to see a complete one imo)
I almost never subscribe to people...I subscribed to you. Watching you play through my favorite childhood game with exceptional commentary and skill is so satisfying. I can't wait for part 2!
Whooaa! I really liked your energy when you were commentating the TAS but this is *way* better than I expected. Seeing you go from something with fairly little editing (like the TAS video) to this is incredible. Great editing and pacing throughout. Keep it up! I'd love to see some more kirby game challenge runs.
I love how your channel is centered around Kirby… he’s like… my favorite character of all time! I love your editing and everything about your channel! I always be looking forward to more! ❤️
Kirby pointed the gun at me and i had to subscribe 😳 But also i recently watched your tas, which i think is why youtube recommended me this video... I'm definitely a fan of this kind of content! I'm looking forward to what u make
This was my childhood it’s so cool to see such a well made Commentated TAS and now just different challenges on it. Hope you do more stuff on this game I love it to death.
After seeing that first TAS video, I kinda expected you to be one of those channels that make one banger and never post anything again, but this shows you're commited. I've obviously already subbed but I'll definitely follow whatever you do next as well.
I'm loving this content already, just don't feel forced to only do Kirby stuff, i'd like to see more TAS or challenges in general, but as always just do what you want to do
I'm glad to see a video for this. I did a no-jump challenge for super star (the snes one, but basically the same game) and was sad to see that this game had gotten pretty much no coverage on the matter. I managed to beat the game (not all the games, just the required ones) with only three b-presses. I can't wait to see what your end results will be.
kirby super star ultra is one of my favourite games and one of few that ill just revisit every now and then. love these videos they're a lot of fun, great editing and i like the music choice, the zero escape music was Very apt.
I'd define jumping as anything that a. uses legs directly with the purpose to get off the ground b. uses said forbidden buttons to gain height. so upper cut still works since your spirit lifts you off the ground from the sheer force of your punch
I was just chilling watching cool Kirby videos and then got hit brutally full force by zero escape music and paradox talk. a horrible experience really. subbed. can't wait to see more.
The jokes, pacing and content are flawless. I think i came from watching too much smallant and lowest percent and getting recommended your commented tas which might be where the other new people came from too. Exited to see more from you in the fututre!
You've gotten that video style down, that one I tend to binge when I have nothing better to do; Answering questions I didn't have until you asked them. Great video.
I like the idea of using TAS for more playful goals. TAS is supposed to be entertaining, so it's a natural fit. (The commentary and editing made this one more fun, though!)
This channel is really great! So underappreciated, playing a series that doesn't get enough love. That's all I really have to say. Oh, and Merry Christmas!
gotta say, i love watching these types of challenge vids. From Cmeecraft to gamechamp, I watch a lot of them. But they are even MORE interesting when you have access to TAS experience and knowledge and whatnot. 10/10 video.
You may not be a new channel technically, but for someone only just properly getting their start, your commentary is great and feels up to standard with much larger channels. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on this channel and I hope to see more interesting content from you in the future.
I subscribed to your channel after watching your first TAS video but hearing digital root from 999 play in this video made me fell in love with it. You are unironically based keep making good content
I can watch videos about anything when it comes to Kirby superstar ultra, so glad I’ve found this channel, even if or whenever you post things that aren’t related to it
I came for one of the few commented TASes I could find, stayed for the nostalgia, and now I'm subscribing because EVEN MORE KIRBY! That said, I want to see a TAS run of this game with the least possible jump presses, no mixing, AND the least possible time spent as Fighter.
