In the much anticipated sequel, we try once again to get through Kanto using only a Magikarp. Is it possible? You'll have to watch to find out! Red/Blue Run: • Is it Possible to Beat...
Alright everyone, if you want to see Part 3 to this, make sure to like/subscribe! These take forever to make, but it's humbling how much people seem to enjoy them!
Imagine: You're an elite four member You've trained your entire life for this A kid walks in No big deal, this happens all the time He's only got one Pokemon Hmm starter only? It's a Magikarp He one shots your entire team
My favorite part is how the whole video is presented as "when you do this, you'll want to do x, y, z..." like anyone else is planning to partake in this madness. Amazing run, well done!
35:17 "When I hit Lieutenant Surge with an 80 base power flail..." That's one way to win the run. Just hit the trainer with a flail until they yield instead of fighting their Pokemon.
@@WideOldDan It's not an "X" item, but it's still a battle-item. Guard Spec. has the same icon as the X-items, so is considered the same kind of item.
@Layne Krusz im fine with these comments... What im getting sick of is the overused meme formats flooding the comments section. Its getting out of hand
@@jacksonroy8720 Everyone: *Literally the combined bulk of all noise escaping human vocal chords and letters from their keyboards.* 'I know I'm wrong, but': 'quiT uSiNg sO ManY meMes'
Kinda random but before this was made there have been videos of beating Kanto (and red) using magicarp and only held items and no items in battle. You have to gamble tho, and use the Beserk Gene item (increase attack 3 stages but confuses you for the battle) for Red
Jrose11's Level 99 Magikarp who still has a level to grow: *"This isn't even my final form"* Also, damn I didn't realize I'd been watching for an hour till you mentioned it.
Sir, you have grinded harder than anyone in history. I commend you. This may have been the most incredibly stupid waste of time I have ever witnessed... but you have accomplished something I definitely never thought possible. Cheers
Watch the vid that VGmyths made. Beating gen 1 without taking damage once. He had a level 42 Charizard and level 41 Raticate before Brock with only grinding against Metapods and Kakunas in Viridian Forest because these were the only wild Pokemon that couldn‘t damage him, so the 1/256 glitch couldn‘t affect him. That shit was pure madness because one unlucky dice roll could have ended the run.
This fricking guy. "If you've made it all the way through you're a hero", when you're the one who beat the game with a magicarp. Amazing video and I'll be looking forward to reaching 100,000 likes ;)
I REALLY APPRECIATE how you wanted to avoid the "Just get to a super high level, you'll one-shot eventually" way of thinking. Most Pokemon 'challenge' videos boil down to that these days :/
For years as a kid I dreamt about doing a magikarp only run, or training a level 100 magikarp. But eventually I stopped playing and that was almost a decade ago. I can’t thank you enough for this, you essentially completed a childhood dream of mine. I am so so grateful 🙏🏽
They say that a fish who swims up a waterfall may become a dragon. But if you see a fish atop the falls... beware that fish, because it decided that it would gain nothing from the transformation.
It can apply to pokemon you own too. If they are above the badge level with too low a friendship value They will stop listening. Traded pokemon just require a significantly higher friendship value to listen while over the badge level
At the rival fight before elite four you mention how our support keeps you going - I have to say how awesome it is you can feel us psychically cheering you on from the future. Because thousands (and thousands!) of pokemaniacs are cheering you on - not just today but far, far into the future! Thank you for doing the impossible!! Respect to Magikarp too!
Started watching this out of curiosity, expecting to skip through. Stayed watching in real time because an hour of my time is worth nothing compared to the time you gave that Magikarp
i'm feeling the need to extend this... PokeMart Clerk: "Your fish cannot handle my strongest potions." Jrose: "Potion seller, I'm going into battle! I need your strongest potions!" PokeMart Clerk: "My Strongest potions kill Mythic Beasts, let alone a flopping fish. you'll have to find a different seller"
You deserve the millions of views this video has gotten. That's insanity. I can't imagine the pain of going through all this. Having to really pay attention for every single encounter...Full respect for getting through it.
I like to imagine Pikasprey on the other end of the battle every time you use a full restore/soda pop to save the lowly Magikarp “OH come on! Those AGAIN?!”
Hey, great job man! If anyone gives you grief over how I did this too, do me a favour and tell them to shove it. You're literally one of the guys who got me to start trying Pokemon Challenges, no toes were stepped on in the making of this great video. I'm just preemptively saying this because I've seen enough comments on EVERYONE's channels of "But Blank did this first!" type stuff. For what it's worth though about what he said at the end, I didn't use save states in my run, that would be cheating
@@MahDryBread honestly it doesn't matter who did it first. Unless it's a carbon copy of the challenge word for word, it's a separate challenge Under the umbrella of Pokemon challenges. Been watching your videos since you were doing the weekly creepypastas. And I love your newer challenge videos. You and jrose and pikasprey and so on and on make awesome challenges. Inspired my own type of challenge as well
53:22 - "Spoiler Alert". Jrose, it's been over twenty years since the international Pokemon release. I think people know the Pallet Town games end with the rival in the Elite IV.
When I was 6 I didn't want to spend any of my precious money in the game so I completed emerald with only spending money in some poke balls... I guess potions and revives would have made it easier
I know some of the challenge runners don't do items to make it harder. Otherwise there probably wouldn't be a strategy to the item usage, like in this run.
@@DanielRodriguez-ru5uk We are the Collectors who do not even use items that can be bought infinitely. Right from the start where the player gets a potion from that one store guy or when they find it on their computer. I think I never used a normal potion in any Pokémon game.
Honestly man, I said this last time and I’m going to say it again. You are one of my favorite creators on the platform. You could have easily stretched this footage out and made 10 separate episodes of 10 minutes in length with 2 ads, but instead you gave us this masterpiece. You are one of the only RU-vidrs I love that do it for the sake of creating something instead of doing it for the monetaztion and ad revenue. I appreciate the hell out of that ♥️
God bless you kind sir suffering for our amusement. You're a goddamn blessing lol. Too bad (for your sake) you didnt do this in Gen 8, as for some reason magikarp for the first time ever can learn new moves, and while he only gets 2 more 1 each via TR and TM, they're good ones: bounce and hydro pump.
“They literally could not make splash have more PP” *next time on the Jrose show* “So they decided to increase the pp of splash to the 32-bit integer limit...”
I have spent so many hours watching these videos, doesn't really matter how long it is. Always love to see the strategies that randomly work, and the random quirks of some challenges like having to closely monitor hp not to stay alive, but to maximize attack
Man you have done something that is really worthy of the word “amazing”. I don’t play Pokémon since years but I have spent 15 years of my life in Pokémon red, yellow , silver, gold, crystal, ruby, sapphire and fire red . What you have done goes beyond everything I have seen on Pokémon . Congrats from the bottom of my heart, you have more than earned my interest in your channel 👍🏻
completely random but in Gen 2 they have a unique held item for this. Beserk Gene. It increases your attack by 3 stages but confuses you for the rest of the battle. Makes max-power magic karp a God and can beat even beat Red at the end
I just love the fact that a fish out of water is destroying bulky creatures made purely of stone, psychic creatures, giant birds, living piles of sludge, dragons, seals, and fire breathing dogs. WTF
Start of run: "I'm going to choose how to struggle carefully so that I can only take 1 damage in return for dealing 4" End of run: "BEEP BEEP LET'S HIT EM WITH THE GOOD OLE 150 BASE POWER FLAIL"
When you did this for vanilla R/B, I was chopping up some vegetables to make dinner. During the process, I became so engrossed in your video that I accidentally cut my thumb so deep that I had to drive myself to the ER to get stitches (LMFAOOO). I absolutely told the nurse what happened and he and I proceeded to laugh hysterically. With that being said, I made sure to watch this video in a paring knife-free environment. Congrats on this incredible feat!!
Im so proud of Magikarp. He is so beautiful fish for being the weakest. But it is easy to evolve it. Summon it the first u do and change to another strong poke and share exp with it. Keep doing it and get the first Rare candy when its level 19. :D
When he got to that part like "you've been watching this for an hour" and I had no idea the video had been going that long. It did not feel like an hour
Ok I have been watching your videos for about a week now while at work. This one I had to legit sit back and watch the entire time and it was satisfying to see the magikarp go the distance. Thank you for the entertaining videos. Please keep them up. 🙏
15 years later: Legue representative: And here are all the champions throughout time! Pokefan: WAIT A MINUTE! Why does one of those "champions" only have a magikarp!? League rep: Uhhh. Well you see... Poke conspiracist: The league is rigged! Other Pokefans: Get him! And that's how the Pokemon league fell.
GG ! you went throught hell it seems, you allowed me to experience pokemon with items i usualy never use... As Glink said you deserve the best recognition for having tried such a deap aspect of this game
