I trust in God and keep faith even as I struggle to take care of my children and myself. As a single mother things are so hard on me. Both of my sons are autistic I’m overwhelmed. God please hear my prayers. Father God I’m so tired of constantly struggling to buy groceries and constantly struggling to pay rent. I’m so ashamed and overwhelmed. But I choose to have faith over fear as christians that’s all we can do. No matter your struggle, we can turn to God. He knows us personally and can give us strength to overcome our challenges. Faith that God will change my situation.

You can't think "I choose joy" every 5 minutes if you are depressed. It won't solve anything. The fruit of the Spirit joy is something real and tangible
But if you identify your triggers, you can strike them down in your mind. Instead of focusing on the thing that triggers depression, you can focus your mind on the glory of God. You can offer the sacrifice of praise with the words of your mouth and the meditations/songs of your heart. And yes, it will sometimes require loving God with ALL of your heart, mind, will, soul, etc. in those moments. Both loving God and joy in God are acts of obedience. They require a change in what your heart(mind) chooses to focus on from moment to moment. So no, instead of " I choose joy" every five minutes, try "I choose Christ. He chose me. [ Though people reject me, God chooses me. I am here because He thought my life was worth saving. He is my God, I am His people. Every good thing, every bad thing are by His design. And because He is not a man that He should lie, I can trust Him. Everything works together for good. I love him and I am called to His purpose. Walking in obedience to his word...that brings Him joy...His joy is where I find my strength...my mental fortitude...my renewed mindset...are all in his joy...so I will accept the oil of gladness and put on a garment of praise! Joy in the Lord is my strength! ] The words in brackets are my new war cry when the adversary tempts me with thoughts that cause feelings that depress me. I will no longer be silenced by satan. In the most difficult moments I will offer God the sacrifice of praise for this brings Him joy and joy in the Lord is my strength.
