So happy I found this channel. The amount of work you put into these videos and their quality is unmatched. Thank you for everything you do. Chloe the Tacoma 🐐
Just got my first tacoma, and so far this channel has been the best I have found, both in content and quality of content. good stuff. Thanks for making my own toyota experience way easier and much cooler.
Most of my build has actually come from your awesome videos! Thanks again for the thorough how to videos and recommendations! Hope to see you on the trail!
I'm comming from BWM world so the whole toyota thing is still new to me. But these are great vids. Well written, informative, and very well put together. You're doing great work.
Almost my first week having a 2022 SR with the TRD lift, rims and wildpeaks. Thanks for the video. I have a lot to learn, and really enjoy waving at other Taco owners now ☺️
Awesome video! Your knowledge & skills, and your presentation is out standing! Did my 2020 SR-5. I'm rolling on 265-70-16 Goodyear Dura Trac. Again thank you for the VIDEO!
Thank you for all you share Chloe! I have a, I believe leveled SR5 4x2 SR5 19' Tacoma and I love it! I bought it with the kit on it. It came with a set of 20's on it. Not for off-road but...😮
Your stuff is so good! Going simple with bilstien 5100 today.. I got the sand limo in pieces right now. Took pictures to put it back together. Cool vid Ms C.
I have a 19 sport and just put bigger tires on over a year ago I off-road on the weekends and surf cast on the beach and I never had a problem with the factory suspension yet but I did order rear and front 5100 today it’s getting a little squishy off the line Great video
Hello and great information. Further to your comment about the needle bearings.... I have installed 2 x 3 in 1 spacer lifts on a 2017 and 2018 and in both cases we had to upgrade the needle bearing as we found vibrations in both instances. Although not severe vibrations but annoying none the less. IMHO I count on changing the bearing when doing any lift kits. Not sure of the new 2022 or 2023 tacomas if they have upgraded the bear from a solid steel bearing to the needle bearing shown in your video but I would think Toyota would upgrade these future gen trucks. We just purchased a 2023 taco and planning on different lift system such as this so again thanks for the videos. Fyi the cost of the needle bearing and special removal tool is around $200 canadian and takes some time to do.... as well as front diff fluid top up. Cheers.
Hi Chloe, I'm exactly at this point of deciding Whether or not to level, lift or leave it stock. I used to just get a new truck and lift it, but now I'm thinking 90-95% of my driving is going to be on road. Decisions Decisions
Great video as always. I recently did the trd lift kit on my 17 tacoma and can agree with both your pros and cons. I was wondering if you were going to talk about the infamous needle bearing. It happened to me as soon as i lifted. Replaced with bushing and no more vibration.
@@StealthTRD i wanna say no more than 100 bucks for the ecgs bushing that replaces the original one. As far as installation, that depends on whether you diy or take it somewhere.
East Coast Gear Supply makes a replacement clamshell bushing for the needle bearing on the CV axle shaft Chloe talked about. It eliminates the weakness, and makes it almost bulletproof.
It would be cool to see you test out the 255 85r16 option as well. The pizza cutters is something I’ve been thinking of. Some people use that to get a little clearance without the tires rubbing.
I value your opinions greatly. Seems like you never cut a corner. With that said I’m going Bilstein 5100s all around to level. Strictly mall crawler here with the occasional gravel or dirt road. 2WD as well.
5100 is best for all terrain , getting those install in a week, don’t put the lift to the very top ring, my auto shop said they know a few cases where the ring snap in the top height. 1.5 -2 inch is perfect.
Hey Chloe, thanks again for another very relevant video. I’m trying to make a decision on whether I want to get a Tacoma and I’m finding your videos very helpful. I do have one question that I don’t think I’ve seen another videos of yours, can you share with me what kind of real world fuel mileage you’re getting in both your silver taco as well as the white one with the 285s? Also wondering if you’ve experienced any of the transmission shifting issues on your silver truck? Thanks again for the helpful videos.
Im not chloe but i can share. I get ~19 mpg for both highway and in the city. Above 65mph the truck struggles with performance. I found the best mpg is when i pussy foot on the pedal and coast to a stop at lights or stop signs etc. i get the best mpg when im on smaller highways and dirt roads (22 mpg max)
The 3rd gen Taco will gear hunt in that 2nd-3rd area, they just all do it. You can live with it, compensate by drive skill, or get the OVRLAND tune. It is still a Tacoma, so it’ll gear hunt for 300k lol
I have the trd loft on my 21 trd offroad. I loke the ride better tha. Stock. Plus it stopped the rub on my mud flaps from the trd pro 17s ans 275/79s I have had since 2 days after getting it. I would recommend the trd since it's good on and offroad while letting you go a little bigger on tires. Plus warranty stays good and the trd pro grill finished thr look
You took the time to upgrade your suspension the right way. That is why you have the desired results you expected. Plus, there is a large aftermarket for Taco trucks. So, you have tons of options and the fan base to help answer questions. Plus, doesn’t your father work for NASA? I am sure you incorporated some Mars Rover tech into your truck. Lol
as I think from watching your video, it might be a wise decision to straight get a trd pro trim for that it comes with a factory fox shocks. if not , you're gonna upgrade it to a fox eventually any way. if with a factory lift, it might be even better! does it make sense?
In your research for shocks, what did you think about Toytec shocks for your Tacoma? I have a 2018 Tundra and I’m about to buy the 3” Toytec Boss suspension lift.
If someone could answer this question that be great. Being a new owner of a 2023 Tacoma TRD off-road and I just installed the 2" leveling spacers on the front. I don't plan to off-road nore do any towing ( yes I know why did I buy this truck if I'm not gonna do these things) Do I need to worry about the needle bearing?
The main thing you want to do a diff drop so your cv joints don't bind and wear out prematurely. You can go simple with spacers and longer bolts or you can get a carriage system depending on your lift . A basic 2 inch lift and mild off roading can get away with the spacers .
Just got my 2022 tacoma TRD Off-road and i did 2in lift in the front bilstein 6112 and 1in rear with bilstein 5100, what tire size would you recommend?
I just got a Toyota Tacoma myself can you do a video riding in the grass because I hear a sound mind makes when I go on the grass I've never had a truck so kind of weird to me I just want to see if yours does the same sound it comes from the back
I used Falcon 2.25" Dampeners that fit perfectly into the OEM suspension springs and hardware (except the back which required some trimming of the shock bucket...) But for the most part, I don't like messing with my Taco too much. Like my Glocks, if you start to modify this kit too much, you risk losing some of the "Zen"...The Japanese put a ton of engineering into these TRD OR 4x4's so they are pretty freaking squared away right out of the box...Hell even the SR5 4x4's are pretty squared away too...I don't feel like I can't do any REASONABLE wheeling in my TACO....If I wanted a clown show Jeep, I would have bought one...By the way another CON of leveling is the shittier gas millage...I went from Avg. 19 mpg to 17 mpg right off the bat when I lifted and ran 265/75/16's...hope this helps...
I've never been a huge fan of leveling kits for a couple of reasons: 1) The front lift still puts extra stress on your CV joints unless you lower the diff. 2) Whilst in increases the approach angle it makes the departure angle worse, and most trucks have worse departure angles and approach angles. But it does make your truck look much better and it also improves ground clearance, so it isn't all negative.
That's one of the reasons I have doubts in leveling my 2016 Tacoma only the front with 2 inch spacers????? Heard more than 2 inches might effect like you said CV joints ???????
So I have bilstein 5100 I am about to put it on my 2020 tacoma. Would a 1.1inch give it enough or should I go with 1.55 inch. Thus is just for the front
Just going to put it out there, you need to get leaf packs next. Even if you going with a j66 or rxt option 1, you'll still get a smoother ride than the giant 3 ply stock packs. It'll really bring those rear fox shocks to life.
Have 2022 Tacoma Trail could not order with fog lights Any suggestions on what parts(brackets/shell) to mount to inside of bumper so I can install them myself Thanks
I had good luck ordering fog lights from Diode Dynamics (SS3 Pro specifically) they come in a custom kit for different Toyotas including mounting brackets.
Saying a suspension lift helps with tire sizes isn’t really accurate. The first number in a tire size you keep referencing is the tread width so a suspension lift will have nothing to do with that. That’s 100% wheel backspacing. The tire diameter is what a lift will help with.
Hello Chloe, I am so confused and I need some help, my budget is limited but I really want to level my truck, I can't afford the kit you used, so spacers is what I plan to use, My question is do I use 1.5 spacers or 2 inch ? ,I don't want to make any other changes so which size do I use ???
