There’s Nintendo and then there’s everyone else. Nintendo doesn’t need to do what everyone else is doing and that’s what makes Nintendo special. Why should Nintendo do something that’s “comparable to the Steam Deck”? This IGN plonker is saying that it’s in Nintendo’s “best interests” to basically become a budget handheld PC, what a joke.

No matter what anyone does, no one will compete against nintendo in the handheld market because of its games, microsoft needsto compete against everyone else and grab the rest of the market that is looking for high end portables like steam deck etc.
@@brownie43212 Even then I'm afraid they can't compete with Nintendo. Owning tons of studios is one thing but having IPs like Nintendo is another thing. And if Nintendo don't absolutely own the next generation, it will be their own fault. They are standing at the top right now and going down from here will be considered nothing but suicide.
@@brownie43212 Those IP's can't compete with Nintendo's in sales, and if they insist on making the hardware more powerful than whatever Nintendo is offering they won't be able to compete in keeping costs down either. They will still be playing into the unsustainable trap of having better hardware than the competition that also comes with significantly longer development times and greater costs for zero gain in terms of fun and playability.
Yeah there more handheld devices now then when switch came out. But those other are portable window or something else and only download or stream games vs switch that you play games made for it cart or download. And the price point is the different too. Switch is reasonable compared to some of these other options
@@XenPete A Nintendo handheld doesnt have competition, but a PS and Xbox handheld, Windows handheld and Android handhelds are all in competition and its becoming saturated already

Dumbarse..😂 When steamdeck was launched, Gabe said pricing was pain in arse and it's single most important thing we need it get right.. Anything above $400, portable handled won't sell because they don't have market for it.. Xbox, ps and Nintendo can't sell 1 to 10million hardware like steamdeck and call it a day... It will be failure like wiiu.. Even 50million sales of series x/s is being criticized for selling poor... There's a reason better hardware pc portable from Asus, Aya, Lenovo, msi don't sell... Pricing... Who are you selling to? If you're pricing a xbox/PS console about 500, why not buy pc portable console with better hardware? Why even make a console because everything they have can run on pc portable.. Nintendo sells because they have real exclusives and they just elimated their biggest competition, yuzu emulator and sent a message to future emulator developers... 😂
Everyone sleeps on Nintendo. They singlehanded rebuilt the gaming market in the mid-80’s. They out lived Atari, SEGA, and countless others and are still going strong. Sony thought they could beat Nintendo at their handheld game but ended up admitting defeat after PS Vita. In the generation of 360 vs PS3 and all of their powerful systems and AAA titles…it was the funny named “Wii” that beat both of them and left them in the dust in terms of sales. Nintendo IS gaming.
Xbox is very aware on Sony's current bungles and will capitalize on those. They will do so by providing a native handheld, VR support, and putting Xbox everywhere. Sony only allows Sony to work on Sony. Xbox will be everywhere and easy to use.
It's funny how so many of these jokers downplayed the Switch and said the future is all about power, power, power. They still talk about the Switch as if it is somehow behind the X Box, PS5, and PC ecosystem when it is the best gaming platform of this generation. Where everyone else has stumbled with out of control, ballooning budgets, dumbed down game designs desperate to appeal to the widest audience possible in hopes of recouping those astronomical costs, and use of tech that never seems to go beyond, "well, it looks prettier", Nintendo has delivered a steady stream of amazing exclusives throughout this generation that quite simply makes the competition, with only a few exceptions, look absolutely pathetic. What can Microsoft offer on a handheld better than Nintendo? It won't be the games, that's for sure.
Next Gen names for Xbox: Main: Xbox TWO (no more confusing names) Portable: XP (Xbox Portable) I'm a Playstation guy, and I'm more than ready to jump ship.
This show is such a false narrative, PS5 and Xbox series aren’t next gen consoles, haven’t been for almost 4 years. If MS releases a handheld within same generation that plays Xbox series games it shouldn’t be part of next gen console watch. The only way it should be included is if it is actually part of their next generation (10th) console line. The Switch successor is really the only next generation console that is expected to happen within the next year yet you barely include Nintendo in this show that was irrelevant as soon as PS5 and Xbox series were launched. You should have used a name that could keep going even after the consoles were released instead of calling them something they are not.

Xbox is struggling to sell their home consoles and you think they should go into the handheld market, a market that Sony themselves failed in and left? What will be the selling point of the Xbox handheld especially when PC handhelds like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go, etc. are there in the market.
Handhelds of today are way different than Sony's handhelds back in the day. Today's handhelds can play the same games that you have on your console/PC while those back in the day mostly had different versions of game or handheld specific games that you bought sperate from your console. The handheld PCs are great but like PCs they can be finicky and takes some PC knowledge to get games to run properly or to get Gamepass on them (Steamdeck). Microsoft's handheld would likely be console-like where you can run the same games you already own with a turn on-and-play experience without worrying about drivers, optimization, etc. Also, like with all their hardware, Microsoft will subsidize it which will probably make it cheaper than most of the others on the market.
@@srauhala5 that is incorrect. The SEGA Nomad was literally a portable SEGA Genesis. The GBA got ports of SNES games, PSP got ports of PS1 games, etc. Today's handhelds play the home console/PC games on much lower settings. The experience is not the same. Also the Microsoft handheld will be able to access digital copies of the games. What about people who buy physical copies of Xbox games? People are not buying Xbox home consoles. The last thing Microsoft needs to do is to enter the handheld market.
it'd be great to have all 3 console manufacturers on the portable game. With their now huge backlog librarys from PSN to Gamepass, even if the devices allowed only for games till PS4/XS, it would make a great addition for any casual gamer. And with cloud services getting better, maybe you could even stream PS5/PS6/OneX/(next gen). My bet for xbox handheld MiniX
Mario can only go so far with a capabilities on a week handheld and most of these kids now unless you’re gonna push grab to a PlayStation five or an Xbox series X they don’t want it
far more likely MS will put some sort of 'xbox' system level api on existing windows handhelds. Just like the firestick. Why make and sell hardware at a loss when the windows handhelds already exist.
What about a “Sega handheld”or even a “Bandai Namco handheld”with touch screen? So you can play lightgun games like “Time crises”.And also games like Pac-Man with an Mini arcade stick on it?
The gaming community needs to stop comparing the switch to the steam deck. For factor aside these are two very different devices. And the switch is leagues above. Not in specs but as a console itself. Nintendo is going to do whatever Nintendo wants to and I'm 95% sure the next gen will NOT be backwards compatible. Nintendo thrives on game sales so to have backwards compatibility they will leave to much money on the table.
@@xers6704 because Nintendo was just getting started and was only interested in tackling the two biggest and most important gaming markets at that time, Japan and America. Plus there was no internet so TV commercials and magazines were the only two ways to advertise and was much more expensive back then than it is today.
Idk … if you’re not interested in Nintendo games there’s no real reason to buy one over a Xbox or PlayStation. A lot of kids now don’t really find Nintendo appealing they are selling to nostalgic adults. The whole Nintendo motto of trying to do more on less hardware is killing it. The games look best on emulators let’s be honest
@@xers6704 Nintendo was popular from the N64 days back in the NES and SNES days were was only when Nintendo was popular in just Japan and the US, but Game Boy made Nintendo popular everywhere.

In alignment with Microsoft's grand plan; it makes ZERO sense to release a handheld or a hybrid console. Their goal is to have everything they offer in the Cloud and be only accessible via subscriptions. They only made consoles this pat generation; to appease their console fans; but also to get everyone used to the idea that Cloud gaming is the only way to go. This was even stated during the Xbox One launch when they initially made it an always online DRM console; but changed it due to backlash. They never gave up on the idea to not give you full access to the games you buy and the subscription model is the best way for them to do it. So if they make some sort of handheld; it will be like the PS Portal.
Who legitimately who is going to buy this? It seems like a waste of money for all parties. People who want to play Xbox games will either play it on their Xbox, or on their computer, or on the steam deck.
I'm getting one on Day 1. I love the Xbox Series Controller and the Xbox UI. Gamepass is better than Steam sales. If it's not for you, that's fine but this will sell.
