Lets settle down Viking Nation. We lost to arguably the best team in the NFC and in the Top 2 teams in the NFL conversation, and its hard to win on the road in this league. I dont care what people say, the Rams are not a crappy team especially at home, with injured players returning. I know none of us were thinking 5-2 at this point in the season. We have the “softer” part of the schedule lets play this out and see what happens. Skol!!!!
We're losing draft capital, but we're staying committed to winning. Trying to play it too safe, that's how you can lose a locker room. With that said, it will be a blunder if the team doesn't repay the commitment with some more winning, and winning a playoff game or two. It's a risk, but I would rather them make the risk than stand pat just for the sake of not wanting to give up picks. I like the balls of it, it's a big balls move.
Thor is so lock step with my thoughts it's like we share the same brain...which could be a problem for Thor. I mentioned on the PD episode that covered the trade that I "understood" why the Vikings made the deal, but this is not a SB caliber team IMO with or without Cam Robinson and a 4th round pick is fairly valuable so I wouldn't have made the trade. I'm not going to hammer Kwesi for doing so, but depleting yet another draft for a player who isn't going move the needle enough probably isn't the prudent move.
It's weird to go from hearing Thor talking about the Vikings receiving a 3rd round comp pick for Sam Darnold, completely ignoring all the cap the Vikings have in the offseason; to shooting down the argument that Cam Robinson will get the Vikings a comp pick because of all the salary they have to spend in the offseason, AND in the same breath saying that the general public doesn't know much about the comp pick process. I think several people here made the argument weeks ago that Sam Darnold wouldn't net the Vikings a comp pick because they'll use their salary to sign FAs and off-set it. I like the Thor episodes a lot but this feels like gaslighting.
We don’t know what ownership is telling them to do as far as in season acquisitions, regarding dobbs and etc. so to say Kwesi needs to not make certain trades but in reality ownership is saying you must do something to not fall or you are fired.
Boxing himself into what? He traded away a conditional pick for a guy who's going to sign a contract with another team next year so most likely get that pick back with a comp pick in 2026. I don't understand what people are upset about? Plus it's for a guy who's in football shape/condition and has been playing relatively well as of late
They're not getting two picks if he signs with another team. And whatever comp pick they'll end up getting will probably be worse than the one they gave up. Would fucking suck if he, like, retires after the season... 😂
Thor is the draft guru no doubt, but to not make a much needed trade and give up on this team at 5-2?? You don’t get this opportunity often after such a great start
The trade was fine. 4th-7th round picks are such a crapshoot. There are also too many variables. What if Flores leaves next year and the defense becomes terrible. Lions are a juggernaut for sure but what if Goff goes down with an injury all the sudden this trade doesn’t look as bad.
We are 5-2 take a breathe thor. Who are we scaring in the playoffs? Id say a lot of teams based off the nfc this season. Lets not forget a lot of teams are still figuring things out. The dramatic panic is unnecessary
I definitely enjoy when Thor comes in the show, but I don’t agree with him on this particular take, especially when that pick we used to get Cam is 2 drafts from now. Enjoy having him on for sure!
lol Thor thinks first round exit is our best case scenario?? Wow dude…HORRIBLE take. We DOMINATED good teams and went 5-0, then our first loss was by a last second field goal against the supposedly best team in the league. Way overreacted to the last two “close” losses
Ya think? You haven't seen anything. Just wait until Flacco smokes their fraudulent defense. You'll see the entire state of MN call for heads to roll! KOC can't make real time adjustments when they get kicked in the teeth. If it's not a scripted play, he can't adjust. Detroit and LA exposed that, and other teams are now going to exploit that. Indy had the best O line in the NFL. You think this D is gonna get pressure on Flacco? 😂
@ lol horrible take. Every team is going to have losses. So I guess Tampa Bay EXPOSED Detroit bc they lost to them. Raiders exposed the Ravens lol. Vikings EXPOSED Green Bay, Niners, Texans…you don’t know football.
@jaredpribyl I've been watching this team for 40yrs. If anybody can start 5-0, and then completely shit the bed, it's this team. Are people overreacting? Yes. Are their feelings warranted? You're damn right.
Nfl fans are so fickle man haha we lost two games in a row, and now people want us to sell everything and throw in the towel. There’s 17 games for a reason - you don’t run through this league with no losses. Not saying the Vikes are going to win the Super Bowl, but the idea that the season is over is ridiculous. There’s one team better than the Vikings in the NFC. That fact alone means you try to win
@threedeep Maybe so. They need a DT something fierce IMO. They could barely get a glimpse of Stafford while blitzing frantically. That shouldn't happen. The offense is not doing well either, but they can fix it I think. Eagles, 9ers, Washington is no joke, along with GB. I think as things stand as of now, rating them as the second best in the NFC is not accurate. I would say top 7 until I see them play efficiently, less penalties, less three and outs, better play calling, more qb pressure, better run ability. There's no consistency.
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮 Jordan Addison is projected to 45 receiving yards per game now by gambling sites ??? Is Mr Show Me The Money upset that he didn't get a new contract ? Or is he on track to become another Kwesi draft BUST ? SKOL
I would be curious to ask Thor if he would be interested in us giving this year‘s first, next year‘s first, for Dexter Lawrence. A fifth round pick this year for D.J Reed from the jets. Cap wise, we could do it but that would only leave us with a third and a fifth round pick in this upcoming 2026 draft . Love the show guys! Skol!!
Can you imagine the havoc Dexter Lawrence would create...offenses will have to dbl team him more than they would like to giving our linebackers lanes to shoot through....in a perfect world.
I respect Thor and rarely disagree with him. But I 1. Don't think they gave up much and 2. Believe we got off to a good enough start to justify going on a run deep into the playoffs. As long as Darnold stays healthy, we are good and Super Bowl is not impossible with this roster & start.
1. There is no reason for Thor to believe the Vikings are a First round exit team. 2. Flores will likely be gone next year; strike while the iron is hot. 3. Your idea of O'Neil to left tackle, Brandel to Right tackle, and Risner to left guard has more moving parts than a chop shop.
Judd: They haven't "solved" the LT "problem," but the Robinson acquisition certainly shows they haven't thrown in the towel. Yes, it's obviously a rental. It at least it gives us hope to remain competitive with the roster we have. It gives the impression the Wilfs continue to press the "chip n' a chair" methodology for the playoffs; so let's go, and why not get some DL help !
I was saying the same as Thor … great minds think alike .. if the offense stalling with CD … Cam isn’t saving the offense.. should’ve been spent on the defense, our bread and butter
What are you talking about they didn't lose anything in that trade!! Thor is cool but he comes across as the smartest guy in the room at times and it gets annoying
Draft pick are so overrated!! I would rather have someone I know can play than Lewis Cine, Andre Booth, Ed Ingram, Kellen Mond, Wyatt Davis, Chazz Surrat etc. etc etc. all these were 1st, 2nd and 3rd picks. Thors take is totally WRONG!
Thor is regressing. It is not easy to flip sides at tackle. Why move an all pro to the left side, now you have a gaping hole in right tackle? You aren’t sure how Oniell works out at LT.
Thor's argument only makes sense from the perspective of a fan watching from his couch. KOC will never stand in front of the team and say "Hey guys, I don't think we are winning the Super bowl this year so let's punt on the season, hold on to our draft picks and try again next year". Building a winning culture is way more important than keepin day 3 picks
I love Thor, but this is so dumb. Conditional 5th is 2026 is meaningless. This move will help them make the playoffs THIS YEAR. He cares too much about late round picks that usually don't pan out anyway. Great move
I tend to disagree with Thor in that with this particular front office at least, they hit much better on free agents than draft picks. Thor's envisioning all these 4-year contracts as people that are working out but after 3 years we see that many of them don't work out. I think it's much smarter to get a sure thing then to spend a lot of time on draft picks that aren't going to work out. Of course that does raise a question on how does The front office figure out how to pick better in the draft.
Problem with that logic is.. you can't keep leaning on FAs to bail you out by making you a good team that way. You don't have an infinite cap space to build a team by doing that.
It's always next year with this team... McCarthy isn't a sure thing next year. He will be a rookie all over again next year. If they don't do it now, it will be two or three years away. Take advantage of the wins this year that no one expected.
How can these Vikings fans sit by and watch their GM whiff on draft after draft and trade away all their picks? And for all the “Kwesi is good at getting FAs,” people, you know what happens to all-FA teams? They have paper-thin depth and fall off when injuries set in. Vikings will NEVER win the super bowl if they can’t draft.
ok UNLESS they're planning a big trade for say...dexter lawrence...and then wouldn't be as big of spenders in free agency next off season. comp pick formula would work more in our favor then (i just can't let the dexter lawrence thing go 😂)
Did Thor receive a concussion and forget the first 5 games? The reason he's so salty is because he'll have very little to discuss draftwise for the Vikes for the next few years.
JJ McCarthy is tantamount to a locked-in 2025 draft pick. And Kwesi can trade '26 picks for an additional '25 pick. And NaJee Thompson and Mekhi Blackmon are two other you contributors not on this Non-Super Bowl quality 53-man roster.
The more I listen to this episode the more Thor sounds like someone who's never played an organized sport a day in his life. Only dreaming someone might pick him for their pick up game
thors stance on not trading draft picks is always the same...hes against it...proven talent is worth more than maybes..kam ant drafted good either so why not get proven talent when its possible
I agree with Judd on the trade. The other thing is Kwesi has one more year on his contract he doesn't give a rats behind about 2026 until he gets an extension and will actually know he'll be here.
Who would have thought a guy that makes his living making draft content doesn’t like the Vikings trading away draft capital…. I’m absolutely shocked🙄 Thor consistently overvaluing draft capital gets old. Freaking out about a day 3 pick two years from now
This doesn't make Kwesi look good. Let's look at this thing logically, this offseason leading up to this year was a failure. They knew Aaron Jones had a injury history, also they knew what kind of runner Ty Chandler is . So you wait to trade for Cam Akers in season. Also you know Quessenbery wasn't a great LT backup, why not upgrade that in the offseason. I'm with Thor I didn't like the trades. I thought they could've signed free agents off the streets to solved both positions they traded for. KOC and Kwesi better finish the season strong if not both can be gone.
I cant believe you have Vikings fans in here agreeing with a dude who thinks a team that is a 5-2 team in a NFC thats wide open is only good for a one and done in the playoffs?! Wth is wrong with these fans that trade was for a day 3 special teams player at best lol we get it you love the 25 version of this team but we're not playing for next year dude you focus on the now and Thor is just yappin at this point he know dang well Robinson isnt below average 😂😂😂 and dude stop crying about a draft from two years ago the team now is setup for success Kwesi has cleaned up alot of mess mainly salary from the last regime. And think about he could still actually bring in a blue chip trade before the deadline what's there to argue about?!!
I'm with Judd 100%. This was a plus trade all the way around. You play to win, not give up because a guy goes down. I've started to get over this "only look to the future" mentality. If you keep looking at tomorrow then you'll never play for today, so why bother? You are never going to have a complete roster 100% ready no matter how far into the future you look.
Kwesi sucks. His in season moves are fine, and UDFA classes are good. His most important job is nailing the draft, which he hasn’t even come close. His best draft pick to date is probably Addison, who you guys are suggesting we trade. Other than that his best pick has been a kicker. Jury is still out on Turner. There has been zero contribution from any of his other picks. The last 3 drafts have been miserable.
Thor if you didn’t like the Cam trade b😮ckle up buckoo. You have’nt seen noth😅ng yet. This is the first time I felt that Thor sounds like a know it all windbag. Prediction we beat Colts they will acquire a defens😮ve player. Skol!
Why do you guys always use words that are not going to make any players in the locker room feel good about themselves. Like (rental player) just sayings like that. As a Viking fan we don’t like to hear stuff like that. We as fans are mostly all in with our team. No matter who is on it.SKOL VIKINGS
Trades like this are a good example of trying to stay good at the price of never being great. Being good this years is fine as a goal, but not if you give up building a future championship team. Thor is right... Judd is wrong.
Disagree with Thor on Robinson trade. Not least because even if mccarthy isn’t poor he’s unlikely to take Vikings far in his rookie season. Can this coaching really risk this hot start collapsing, on top not making play offs last year. Agree Akers trade feels odd given jones doesn’t appear to have any real injury of note.
