In this video I show how I test the starter and solenoid after it has been removed from my John Deere tractor. Though it is from a tractor, the process would work for starters from many different vehicles.
Apparently this time was just a bad connection, but I never figured out exactly where. Everything seemed tight before I started disassembling, but after I put everything back together from testing components it started working again. No trouble since.
