The people who are willing to talk shit online, typically don't have the balls to do it in person. Offline events are incredible and worth the experience.

I’ve never been salty after an offline set. It’s so much easier to not mald when you’re sitting next to a real human being who’s enjoying the game alongside you. Gives you perspective.

I went to an offline event at the start of tekken 7 as a complete tekken noob. Literally didn't even know my first combo yet, just had a very basic offense doing simple string and high/mid mixups with lili. I sat down and got to play about 15 games with a girl who beat my ass. I got 1 round in those 15 games. So I can say I got a round off cuddlecore in person now, which is pretty cool

Offline tekken definitely feels different from online. I used to play a lot of offline at the office back in T7 (this was pre-pandemic) and it was always fun. You don't really get tilted as you do with online play as you're usually just having a good time, even when losing

Hey Phi! Just letting you know your (or your editor) is still using an old format for the description; it says ParagonFGC still! I saw the community post relating to it so I don't imagine you feel weird about it still being there, but just in case it was an oversight ^^

As a Tekken oldhead (42) that is how I know Tekken. Playing against your friends in the arcade, then later years, against each other on console. Smack talk is part of the fun haha.

thanks phi, I'm actually going to a tourney next week that's actually a part of the TWT and I was super nervous about it and doubtful of my ability, especially since I got on ranked to grind and practice and I went on a horrible losing streak. I was like woah maybe I'm not as ready for the tourney as I thought. It doesn't really matter though because I should just go to have fun and learn, and I might even surprise myself who knows. when you said you're never too low of a rank to enter a tournament that made me feel a lot better, I always fell into the trap of thinking I had to meet a certain "criteria" or some sort of experience to qualify to enter as if it was a job or something lmao, like oh man I gotta at least be tekken god to be considered tournament ready or a competent competitor. that's a silly way to think though. Your videos always clean up my mindset when I'm in a mental funk as I go through this journey of trying to learn and compete in this game so thank you for that

My locals for Tekken (and Smash) when I used to go is called Xanadu and its hella chill! I would be chillin and ppl would politely ask if they could lab against me. Friendships usually start from there. Also the offline banter and trash talk (with both sides laughing a ton) adds a missing component that you can't experience online.

Tekken 8 is my first fighting game and I'm struggling quite a bit, I decided to go to an offline event 2-3 months ago on a whim after I hit orange rank and met some super cool people who have been helping me learn. We play online occasionally but being able to sit next to them IRL and ask questions and do infinite sets is a much better experience than just endlessly playing online and reviewing matches. The people at my local scene are significantly better than me at the game and it's really rewarding to hear them comment on how I've gotten better since I first started coming out. I rarely if ever beat them, but I have started being able to win a few rounds. Progress feels good.
@rip2you
@rip2you 27 дней назад
I play both and I guess they both have their pros and cons. Recently I've been enjoying online more purely just for the variety of players. Offline is cool for learning matchups but I think it really depends on what kind of scene you're looking to play with

@neniv
@neniv 26 дней назад
I used to go to offlines a lot when i was younger but as I moved away from that local spot it felt like finding a new local scene was really tough, if not impossible. The best offline experiences I would get was when I lived in your typical American Milennial "party house" and people were always coming over so I always had different types of people to train against. We played so much that we used to set up Tekken 6 with infinite time matches and just leave it on the tv as background noise for anyone to pick up anytime.

if there aren't really offline events near you, finding a small discord where you can run sets against each other is also immensly helpful. Just being able to ask the other person: "hey, you kept beating my ass with that move over and over again. How do I get around that?" is such a huge factor.

I see the winner literally walk to the loser guy to give him a tips, they are complete stranger. Me a blue rank player, can fight toe to toe with GoD, I make it to 17th in 65+ Dojo. Ranked match and Offline are different games, Rank need compound improvement and consistency, Tournament you need to "win the set". the skill gap is suddenly closer Idk exactly why but it is.
