If you put your kid in a childcare center your kid will absolutely not get any 1 on 1 attention. Generally a childcare worker is going to be caring for between 6-18 children depending on age. Beyond keeping them fed and clean, this is all that a childcare worker has time to do.

I was just going to say the same thing. As a former daycare worker for kids 5 and under every good thing she said about daycare I was just shaking my head. The capitalism side of daycare has brainwashed moms to believing all these things, when it's they're literal income if you have your child attend daycare or not. Mom should speak to actual people that have worked at daycares to get the full picture, and definitely not the ones that care for your child. I had parents ask me how their two year old was doing, of course I'm not going to tell them they have a mental breakdown everyday that never ends, like how would that benefit anyone?

Great Video as always. Just wanted to point out Federal minimum wage is $7.25. Only 5 states (including CA) have a minimum wage of $15

My daughter is now an adult, but when she was younger, I have gone through so many scenarios. I’ve had her in day care, I’ve had a nanny in my home & I’ve had her go to day camp. Staying home with her was not an option, because as a single parent I had to work outside the home to support us. I’m just happy those days are behind me now, phew, it was ROUGH 😅, but I survived!

I have 2 kids i put my 4 year old in pre k 2 days a week and my 17 month stays home with me its hard and killing me but financially we cant even afford 1 going 2x a week. The hardest part is i get out of work at 3 am and my toddler is up at 7 am for the day self care is nonexistent in my house for me. I work opposite shifts from my husband so we dont have to py for child care. Wish i found you sooner. Thank you for your videos

Remember, it’s just a season and you’ll get through this…. Never be afraid to ask for help with things… a lot of churches ⛪️ help people, networking and I’m sure there are some programs to help you with respite care should you need a break….. help is out there… but you’ll get through this.

My husband and I decided to put our in day care, we have 2 and daycare is our 3rd highest cost every month behind our mortgage and student loan payments. Daycare would be 2nd only to the mortgage if we paid the minimum on the student loan but we’re determined to pay it off by the end of the year.

I LOVE the exercise that you did toward the end of the video, plugging different options into your budget and looking at the leftover amount. I know money isn’t the only consideration here, but it was really helpful to see a visual example of how to do this kind of calculation!! I don’t have kids, but it’s a good thing to keep in mind. Also, I would love to see how this kind of exercise would look for other types of decision making, e.g. deciding whether or not to leave your job to start a business

Great video. Love your impartial approach here bc people can be really judgmental about what you decide. I struggled to find a daycare that I was comfortable with but I did d2 of them for a short period. Ultimately I found a preschool at a church that I loved and they go there for K12, but now I struggle to find a camp every summer 🙏🏽

I was turned down by the all the daycares in my area with both of my kids until they turned 3, and then I could only find care for three hours a day, three days a week until they started kindergarten. A lot of people assume this was my choice. Luckily, I was/am a trained teacher, so I was able to provide an enriching environment and prepare my children for success in traditional school. You really do have to do the math to determine if it makes sense to pay for childcare with your income or your spouse's income, but home care isn't free, either.

Hubby and I make 240K. I work from home and been watching my child since he was born. He is 15 months I’m at my limit. In a few months he will be at daycare/preschool and its for the best. I saved us so much money due to hubby doing his degree online and it’s time for me to do the things I enjoy, workout at the gym. Hubby graduates next month and my little son will soon make new friends and I’ll get back in shape. This would not be possible for the remote opportunity. It’s hard and only recommended if it’s possible to work and watch your child at the same time. If it’s more than one then it is impossible.

This seems like it only works for you because you can still make money when you are staying home. Most of the time if you are a stay at home mom you get no income.

A good daycare is expensive but fully worth it. After two kids want playmates. They learn faster. Their brain is growing so fast between birth to 4. A foundation for them. Investing in a great daycare is well worth the money. It’s unfortunate not many of us can afford such a system. This is where the govt should come in. I see so much of difference between a kid going to daycare and stay home. Now people would have to draw a healthy medium. Daycare and school does not take you out of responsibility as a parent.

There is nothing called good day care. They are all out there to make money. And you can’t ask for a good care when a staff is paid $12/hr. They get frustrated when they have to change the diaper of 14 or 18 children. Those staff doing nothing but change the diaper, clean the nose, feed, clean the mess after eating.

no. the biggest issue is that the average monthly cost of daycare is the same as what i pay to send my toddler to a private school for a fucking year.

I love how once the childcare expenses are removed it exposes how little profit is actually being made. And then we go right to the.... "but what do I really value, and what actually brings me joy?" So sad that it's a JOB over a child. Ugh. Content creation can be done anytime of day -- it's very possible to fit it in around a child's schedule if it's a true value. It hardly made any difference to the budget anyway. Our society is so backward!

It’s not that simple, there are all kinds of different family dynamics to consider. When I had my kids ( going back over 20 years ago) my husband had a business and I had an office job with health benefits. Although my salary was pretty low at the time, I think I made around $40,000 a year when my son was born in 2001, we needed the health benefits so I kept working and we paid for daycare and summer programs. Plus I ended up staying with the same company for many years and got good raises and the childcare costs aren’t forever.

How many women even considered this before going into debt to get a college degree only to find out all your income is now going to go to child-care, plus you still have the loans to pay back plus an oversized house chicky just had to have and comvinced hubby it'll be fine because of their dual incomes? 😂

Here's the messed up thing, women working diluted men's salaries, so the man is making less, but then when the chick gets pregnant her salary goes to daycare, but the guy is stuck paying for everything else on half the salary he would have made 50 years ago. This is a crushing burden for men. Just don't get married guys, you're carrying these women on half the earnings you would have had in the past. Total chaos.
