Kpop and Kdrama shouldn’t be a reason to go and live there. That’s a fantasy, it’s NOT reality. We can love culture and enjoy their shows and music but never to the point where we feel that’s real, just enjoy the culture at a normal level, please. Stop unreal expectations!!!!!
I've heard that it's very dangerous regarding sexual assault for foreign women. When it comes to crimes committed while drunk, perpetrator has it very easy
South Korea has a really narrow definition of rape, so their statistics is very skewed. Also, rape is less reported, due to societal apathy towards sexual assault victims in South Korea.
you know. as a korean, we as usual say the area of Hongdae, Itaewon and the place where many clubs are the most dangerous. the ordinary korean don't go to the clubs in their life. just once maybe? but just because of curiosity. then they don't go to ever again. so some.. not that much good ppl go to club eventually. and becomes a bit dangerous. drinking, hooking, flirting ppl are there. if you wanna look for safety, go to the place of local.
@@waaw8683 local places like public places like shops streets etc. Hongdae and clubs are too public places but it may be little dangerous especially for foreigners as they don't even know the language so they won't't even be able to defend themselves. And people usually do clubbing there. Just alcohol and flirt. Even Koreans too avoid it to go there. But yeah if you wanna go, should go with a company so you won't be alone
But only at the night time and at some streets near clubs I would say, as Korean, I think it's common for university students go there just for a drink and have fun.
I love your videos I want to go to Korea in 2 years and I learn a lot with your videos. The quality is really good and the interviews and the questions are on point keep up the good work 👍🔥
This one was really interesting keep up the greatvwork! btw maybe u can add something like an outro at the end where u talk about ur opinion on the topics or summarize the video at the end, i think that would be a good addon. nevertheless love ur content :)
If you don't go to the club, Hongdae area and Itaewon. Korea is a very safe place. The biggest advantage that foreigners can enjoy while in Korea is the Korean mountains. Korea is one of the most mountainous countries in the world.
You are right. However, some foreign girls go there to find "handsome boys". It cannot be stopped, and makes me feel hmmm... There're too much fwb in Hongdae and Itaewon. My girlfriend is Latina, but we met each other in a cafe. Foreign girls should not go to clubs a lot. It ruins their Korean life.
Hongdae and Itaewon are safe, nobody are there to hurt you okay? 😂 Now if you get yourself drunk af especially as a woman, then there will always be some sinful men lurking out there to take advantage and that's common across anywhere in the world. So women can go to clubs in Hongdae or Itaewon and have fun, but go as a group to look after each other and don't over drink. And never accept drinks from strangers you met at bar/club. It's absolutely safe for women to enjoy their evenings in the night life of Hongdae and Itaewon areas, just use common sense.
@@lycos888 Applying "dangerous" to Hongdae and Itaewon is not right. However more incidents that may happen in that district due to alcohol consumptions, but it's not "dangerous" per say. Plenty of local and foreign women go there to have a good time with no problems. Dissuading women not to go there is wrong. I would instead say go there and enjoy the busking performances of Hongdae and check out hip clubs, enjoy the good food and variety of foreign cuisines of Itaewon + cool jazz bars, but exercise common sense precaution by going with a group of friends (not only for safety, but going with friends are more fun), drink responsibly, and DON'T EVER accept a drink from a stranger.
She's so right 3:33 You just don't leave your shit in Paris City. If it's gone, it's gone, prayers won't do shit, trust me. Best believe your stuff are probably out already on some resell market called 'leboncoin' fr lmao
I live in SK FOR 5 years many people are kind and nice. And its feel more safe compare to my COUNTRY PH. i love my experience and stay in SK. I wish i can travel back to SK 😇😇
@@LeiSalazar I agree, Philippines is quite safe but before I visited, people who have never been there told me it wasn’t 😂 I have no idea who told them that because I find it safer than most parts of America tbh. I live in Canada by the way and would love to visit again.
Shes just like me. A fellow Chicagoan you get PTSD living in this city with all the violence. So when you see busy streets, a lot of stuff going on, people approach you. Your immediately on edge.
Isn't it funny enough that these ladies are in korea for 2 days, 3 weeks, 2 months, and 15 days. And you are getting information from them about Korea 😅
I think Korea is definitely one of the safest country for woman to visit and of course for men also. No worry to hanging around at night and even the dawn.
Realistically, there’s no country in the world that’s safe for women to just be walking out and about in at night, but yes, I can definitely agree that it’s SAFER.
@@latinasawntop its one of very few countries, where korean women can walk out during the night safely. its only dangerous when women are drunk and alone or going alone in a club, they should never take drinks from strangers but thats something that applies to pretty much every country.
Are you living in delusion sis/bro korea is not at all safe there are many cases were foreigners are being harassed or raped ... you can find many videos on RU-vid about them so stop saying that korea is a safe country im tired of hearing korea is a safest country bla bla bla came out of your imagination
@@latinasawntop They said "SAFEST" meaning in comparison to the others it is the most safe. They're not saying "OH YEAH IT IS THE ONLY SAFE PLACE FOR WOMEN" .
The term safety is pretty relative, so obviously cities in SK and Japan are gonna seem way safer for women than say NY, Chicago, Paris, London etc. Probably due to homogeneous culture and demographics IMO. Apart from the occasional drunk dude trying to pull you into a dark alley, SK seems very friendly and accommodating.
People who go to convenience stores at dawn, drink with friends, go for a walk, go to a cafe, go to a restaurant, etc. can be seen freely at dawn. There are 24-hour convenience stores, 24-hour marts, 24-hour delivery culture, restaurants, cafes, and bars open late at night. So I often was drink until morning or day.
European cities used to be just as safe as Korean cities but in the past 20 years its become far more dangerous with the lack of social trust through immigration.
@@catiasilvaaaa They're not even remotely close in terms of physical safety. Obviously, in Japan there may be incidents occuring, but at very low rates. I've never seen so many women (not to mention kids)walking around big cities like Osaka or Tokyo all by themselves, all hours at night without any fear for their safety, even in the sketchy areas and 'slums'. Ain't happening in the US. Tha assessment is a real far stretch
This is such a sad comment and it kind of broke my brain. That's not safe at all but I suppose the comparison checks out? However I do think you may be underestimating how dangerous South Korea is specifically for women regarding sexual assault. Not just legally but also culturally they're very lax about it. I've watched like mini documentaries on youtube and it's horrifying how the events unfolded and how the cases were dealt with.
Murder rate in the U.S. is nearly 10x higher than SK. Rate of traffic deaths more than double. Rate of serious sexual assault (rape) also double. In one sense, they may be right: if North Korea implodes/explodes, all bets are off, in a big way.
In American cities, If you start seeing bulletproof glass in gas stations and every house window/door has cages, that means you need to get the HELLLLL out of that neighborhood asap 😂
the uncle of a friend that was doing tourism was taken out of the train to steal his iPhone, I was astonished that doesn't even happened in my city everrrrrrr, there is pickpocket but never something as they taking you out to steal you
Riding the subway is super safe. Never once do I even think about changing train cars because of some violent sketchy dude getting on and yelling at random people or spreading out and changing his clothes.
Korea is safe in that you're unlikely to get shot, robbed, or experience physical assault. But for women, sexual assault and harassment is a very real issue.
As much as I love my country India, I don't think any woman here would ever feel safe even in the afternoon, forget about night. I really wish that the population as well as the crime against women here declines. 🙌🏻🧿
What do you mean.....the area where i live in is a pretty literate and liberal one.....and barely any crimes take place over here......maybe you live in some area like delhi or whatever.... doesn't mean that the whole India is like this.....be a little logical atleast !!!
I feel like if you ask people that have only been here for a few weeks vs longer than a few months there‘s a huge difference in the answers. It is objectively safer than most countries but bc people build this delusion they get into dangerous situations and then something bad happens. I’ve had a lot of friends who have escaped quite dangerous situations and have been stalked really badly here.
As more and more foreigners will travel to south korea , for any reason, more and more problems will increase in future. Because South Korea looks good because it's small and homogeneous societal country , and in future more and more foreigners coming to south korea ,the problems will come , because of cultural differences.
Every country has that kind of problem. Discrimination and racism toward black people in Japan is very common and hate asian crime in America is also increasing.
1) The woman from the Netherlands seems vaguely a Dutch-born Asian. 2) I would disagree about how unsafe the US is. In my opinion, in any city around the US, it all really depends on where you go.
@@blackbelt2000 maybe because ALL big cities are democratic led? Even Dallas and Houston have democratic mayors. Of the 30 largest cities, only 3 have republican mayors (Oklahoma city, Jacksonville and Forth Worth). Is Forth Worth better in crime rate than Dallas? No, they are similar. Of course crime rate is going to be higher in a city of 10 millions compared to a ranch with more cows than humans.
Having lived in many countries, including Korea as well. Singapore is definitely a lot safer than even South Korea. In Singapore, female assault victims are given high priority and punishment is server. Women are treated with respect compared to Korea.
Considering that South Koreans have overthrown 2 military dictatorships through direct action on the streets and also thrown out 2 other presidents over the last 70 years they don't seem to respect government authority very greatly but they do try to be respectful to each other even though they argue amongst themselves alot.
@@jhc1jinx in the West guys will be agressive if they think they can get away with it when i was there i saw alot of ppl wanting to maintain law and order
All the critical criminals are must be captured by Korean police in this Korea island where all the streets have cameras. 😅 And people request and give press the government for more safety. Once a murder crime would happen, the whole all Korean TV News focus on the murder crime for several weeks, this rate is 3~ 5 time per a year.
South Korea is safe, that's for sure. Probably because of the threats coming from up its northern neighbor(North Korea), 1. guns are not allowed to non-soldiers, 2. tightened national security laws have been in place, laws are strict, 3. surveillance cameras are everywhere, 4. organizing or organized gangsters or any anti-national groups are dealt with in the most severe manner.
Anywhere in the world during the night time can be dangerous. Korea has lesser chance of getting into trouble, which means that there is always a chance. I'm a man but walking around at night time especially around dark alleys, oh man...
Could you please put a t-shirt and be professional? if it's was me I'll tell you that before answering your questions....come one is the way to start talking with people

But he is a guy. He can't answer the questions as good as a female person. + you are talking about ghetto areas. Black neighborhoods don't necessarily have to be dangerous :) Actually a lot of afro americans are pretty nice and respectful people ^^ They aren't as portrait in the media~
Not true. Many traditional/convservativ places are very dangerous for assault as harassment isn't taken seriously. Some of the safest places are not conservativ. It's not black and white
That depends, Japan is way more conservative than Korea when it comes to opinions from general people to media. Korea has always ranked higher than Japan in the freedom of speech index. Japan is more open when it comes to adult entertainment. Music industry Kpop vs Jpop: Jpop is more conservative, things you see and lyrics in Kpop wouldn't be allowed in Jpop in fear of controversy. Immigration index shows Korea is slightly more open to foreign immigration than Japan. Latest Gender gap index: Korea is ahead of Japan, although both aren't high on the list. Hierarchy is important in both countries, although I think Korea emphasizes more on senority based on age than Japan. So it depends on what areas you look at, to flat out say Korea is much more conservative appears wrong and all the data shows that.
that means you've never been to both countries. Japan is really conservative in so many cases. they even put pressure on how you sit, how you eat, how you dress and even how you use chopsticks. i mean, if you work at a convenience store, you can't use a smartphone and can not even sit in a chair when there's no customer. there are too many social rules. go and see how they look the same when they go to work because of the strict dress code
As a Japanese individual, I can assert that Korea is more liberal. In Japan, having a tattoo can result in less humane treatment, and many onsens may deny entry. The two countries are incomparable in this regard; a movie that speaks ill of Japan would not be produced, let alone released. Conversely, in Korea, films that criticize the government or address the country's issues are permissible. There is freedom to create content, regardless of whether it casts the country in a negative light, which is not feasible in Japan.
all these stories these girls over reacting a bit. these men arent trying to hurt them or stalk. they just trying to pick them up. korean women expect men to get over several no's even when they are interested in the man. if a man gives second effort that means he likes you. you may have to just say no several time. and at least police isnt killing anyone like they do in america
