it's nice that Dunkey gave a small indie game like street fighter 6 a chance against an industry titan like Gollum. Really shows how humble our favourite youtube reviewer can be
World Tour mode is genuinely genius for the new-player experience though. Except for some Mortal Kombat 9 and 10, I've barely touched the genre, and got SF6 just because the character creator looked goofy. Then through World Tour, I got introduced to so many characters fighting styles though the master system, rather than through the standard 'spam buttons in the practice mode until it makes sense'. I got the chance to understand that Jamie, Dee Jay and Juri are my favourite characters without having to get my ass torn open in the online mode first.
If you're spamming buttons till it makes sense you aren't doing it right when I go into training I try all the buttons and moves and see what can connect with what what I can use to punish and also to figure out spacing
@@nckv I've been playing fighting games for over 20 years and hearing someone say what the op said irks me because if that's what you think training mode is things aren't going to make sense
If it wasn't for the world tour mode, I wouldn't have figured out there is a drive parry in the game and I did the tutorial. That game mode made me learn the mechanics of the game against stupid AI grandmas and I thank it for that
It’s amazing practice, since I’m new to street fighter. Only thing I don’t like is how far my mains moveset is unlocked in the story. I practice have to play the whole thing to get it
It's really nice to see E. Honda finally letting his brothers, E. Toyota and E. Mazda, share in his spotlight. It's a shame about E. Nissan's ongoing transmission issues, though.
Agree with everything except World Tour mode. That shit is cool and definitely should be a staple moving forward. The bots definitely get harder you just gotta get further in the story. It's super easy in the start to get you familiar with controls
As someone who has never played a Street Fighter before. World Tour mode was a very good intro difficulty to teach me the mechanics of the game 1 by 1. Dunkey may have thought it was too easy, but for me it was a way I could actually understand the game and get better. The enemies as you progress go from not doing anything, to you getting rewarded for using certain moves on them high/low/grab, etc and I thought it was awesome for teaching the mechanics slowly to someone who doesn't already have hundreds of hours in fighting games. It is a very good mode for setting up the structure to understanding the game better. That being said, I do wish it had a New Game+ mode after you beat it or something to help continue the skill grind.
While that's true, it does get repetitive and grindy to those who are veteran SF players. It's a fun mode, but it could seriously use a setting to change up the difficulty.
The only thing I have to say about world tour is that it’s a brilliant attempt to to lower the floor to get even more people into fighting games. You learn your moves one at a time so by the time you’re comfortable with one you learn another. Match up times are instant with the CPU’s and if you want a real challenge you can pick a fight with a character above your level.
Dunkey's achievements in Street Fighter 6 are even more impressive when you realized he accomplished all this while handcuffed and using a DDR dance mat
Balan Wonderworld strikes me as the kind of game that, years later, is going to have more than a few RU-vid retrospective videos about it that talk about how it was better than we thought. I wouldn't be surprised if it gathered a bit of a cult following.
@@CaidicusProductions I freely admit that Balan Wonderland has a lot of cool ideas and distinctive visuals, it's just that-at least from all of the gameplay I've seen and accounts I've read-it fuckin' sucks to play.
seeing all the character monstrosities people create is the best part of this game. especially in cutscenes. oh yeah i guess the fighting part is fun too
for someone who sucks at fighting games the world tour mode has actually been surprisingly fun and engaging. creating your own character is refreshing since a lot of the main roster isn't super visually appealing to me, and getting to swap out abilities from different teachers gives you a lot more creative expression. i can learn stuff more at my own pace rather than reading through a suepr long command list on the pause screen. yes a lot of the common enemies are super easy and don't do much, but later on you get to fight ones who actually pose a bit of a challenge (at least for a noob like me) and it's made me think more about my decision making and the tools available to my character. not a super engaging "story" either but i never expected that from a street fighter game to begin with. all in all great for beginners to take a more relaxed approach to the game rather than get your butt handed to you by veterans online all night.
"Alot of the main roster isn't appealing to me" I'd love to know WTF your avatar looks like and what you consider "interesting" for such a statement cause that's incredibly wild.
@@Guile_The_Exile LOL i mean i tend to like the funny, weird, "oddball" type characters (think kuma in tekken, gnar in league) and the only who rly fits that mold in sf6 is Blanka i guess. rn my avatar is just in a kitsune mask and skater type clothes with the smallest height possible haha. playstyle wise i probably would enjoy cammy or chun li but i just dont super vibe with their aesthetics compared to just a silly little dude with no face.
lvl 37 in the world tour mode and I gotta say, they start out as absolute drooler AI bots, but the enemies rn are starting to get rough and overstatted. The game actually challenges you on what they teach you, and for a fighting newbie who has never played a street fighter game, it has been teaching me the basics of the game quite well. I'll look into learning cammy after I'm done with it and try some pvp. Edit: I now realize that every fight in world tour is a teaching moment for you to learn how to play. Edit: I'm currently diamond with lily and aki
Can I just point out how impressive it is that the game devs were able to dynamically adapt the animations to a fully-customizable character without any noticable clipping or glitches? I'm really curious how they pulled that off so seamlessly.
@@vegas3352 interesting, i always read it as "resident evil engine" lol (given that, i believe they debuted said engine with re2's remake. i might be wrong tho)
One of the best fighting games ever made. They could have released this game without World Tour mode and it still would have been amazing but the fact they added that mode and everything else is just damn
I love that when given so much freedom in character creation, so many people go right into “What is the most grotesque affront to god and nature I can create?”
The character creator is abysmal and makes it impossible to make something that isn't either eerily uncanny or an unholy abomination. Given the choice, I think I know which one id choose.
Imagine throwing a fireball at a man and then dunking him into the core of the earth and he STILL has to sell you a slice of pizza. Despite the actual fighting being whelming in World Tour Mode it is the funniest story mode I've played in a while.
the character creator is perfection. i love getting to make mutant freakazoids like in oblivion and that's not something you see much anymore because of the amount of presets most games have now
as a newcomer to street fighter, i actually really enjoyed the world tour mode! it got me acquainted with the controls at a comfortable pace, and taught me what i needed to know to play :-)
in all seriousness as a big fighting game fan it makes me so happy to this. Street Fighter V's horrible launch had people forgetting who the fuck they are, this is THE fighting game franchise for a reason, and now it looks like it. Stylish traditional 2D fighter with top level online play and a fun diverse roster with a healthy remixed legacy characters and new guys that fit in seemlessly
The world tour character created is the best character creator I’ve ever used in any video game. It’s insane just how much control you have…you can make your character looks like anyone it’s insane.
Ryu hating spiders has been an established trait of his, but you'd never know before unless you decided to read the Street Fighter fan wiki or something.
I like the single player mode because you get to fight on the street. It has an optimal amount of streets per fighter and that’s what Streets Fighter is all about.
Capcom’s done it boys A good proper polished fighting game Even someone who thinks they aren’t good at the game actually does well cuz of good mechanics and teaching system
One thing that dunkey overlooked that I liked about world tour mode is that you can mix and match every roster characters moves and play against other peoples avatars online so it doesnt feel pointless to progress through world tour
World Tour is definitely designed for new players but it does get harder towards the end game. Both in terms of AI difficulty and in classic Elden Ring style - 1 grab takes of 40% of your health. Overall I'd say it was a good mode that helps introduce you to all these characters and tells a decent enough story. But the Mission design could really be improved. Some of them feel really half baked compared to the games it's trying to emulate.
Agreed. And tbf, I had the most fun when I was fighting the masters. The gimmicks that some NPCs have don't flow really well with the gameplay (Fuck you, nerdy girl with roombas! I hope you lose ALL your screwdrivers!)
In Street Fighter 5, you can fight other famous and beloved martial artists. In Street Fighter 6, you can fight a refrigerator. Nintendo really outdid themselves in this one.
The part about the 3 AM test is too real for me. I've been sleeping terribly the whole week, because every night I try to play "just a little", the I look at the clock and it's nearly 4 AM already.
I feel like Capcom laid the foundation for something great with this World Tour mode, as long as Capcom is willing to improve it in the next title. It really reminds me of Mortal Kombat Deception's Konquest mode with a hint of Yakuza in it.
Because the "difficulties" seems like a really low bar when its a simple mathematical question: "if you only need to recruit 4 people, and all you need to teach those under you how to recruit 4 people again, how long does it take to hit the global population?" Answer: the 17th generation already need interplanetary recruitment to hit the target :D
Good job on editing this video! The shots at ~4:00 mark match the rhythim of the jazz rhythim section. Learned something good about editing rn, thanks dunkey
Street Fighter 6 is the 6th Fighting type game but Gollum is the first Prison Routine type game so I’m gonna have to give it to Gollum for this one dubskey
