Big changes for the 2024 Mazda CX-50 compared to 2023 but did it fix what I complained about last year?

Thanks for this video...well presented! I test drove the 2024 Mazda CX-50 Premium (not the Plus) and thought it was great. It has the terracotta interior. But, def will opt for the Plus. The ride was "spirited" and not too harsh from the short time I drove it...really dialed in nicely. I have owned two Mazda3's and a CX7...all were tuned for "driving" and quite tight (albeit, fun as hell). This new CX-50 is more refined and IMHO a "steal-deal" for what you pay vs going up a tier to a luxury crossover SUV. I am a big old fat guy...and I fit good in it. Entry/exit isn't a struggle.

I don't think steering is a problem per se. Most people just dont like the actial sportier steering and stiffer rides. Most are used to soft steering and smooth ride for a luxury feel as opposed to feeling the road to know how things are at all times. For as many people ive seen not like the steering I've seen as many like it. Id be interested to test the old and new back to back.

Wife and I took ours to Valley of Fire in Nevada. The road leading to it from Lake Mead and out of it to Moapa Valley is very curvy for about 80-90 miles. It absolutely crushes the curves and even at higher speeds, it doesn’t make you feel like you lose control. Best driving car we have had. My daughter is 10 and she said it felt like a roller coaster and she loved the whole ride! Best car we have bought this far. We have had 13 other cars of many different kinds and brands. 😂

I used to have a Mazda 3 and I appreciated the feedback that I could feel from the car as I drove. Sure, it could get overwhelming if I was stuck on a road full of potholes, but otherwise it didn't bother me at all. I recently test drove a 2024 CX-50 Premium Plus and I love how it handled.

I'm seriously considering replacing my 2015 VW GTI with a CX50. However, I'm going to look for a used Preferred Plus trim in about a year and a half. I should be able to get one for around $25,000 by then. Coming from the GTI, I actually WANT the firmer ride and heavier steering of the earlier model CX50's. I imagine it''ll still feel soft compared to the GTI.
@CarGuy11
@CarGuy11 7 месяцев назад
Honestly you may want a CX-30 then. The CX-50 still feels like a big & wide vehicle compared to GTI. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NZupQxF0rWs.htmlsi=pHwO3SE4waZ8ICun

I recently replaced my 2017 Golf R (manual) with CX-50 GT Turbo. After a 2-week of daily driving, I am super satisfied with the CX-50. I am a big fan of Mini (owned 5-door S and Clubman S), and this CX-50 GT Turbo is very much like Mini Countryman (probably performs somewhat between S and JCW in my opinion). Depending on your own car experience and preference, you may like CX-30 more, but if you need little bit more room, then CX-50 should work really well.

I own 2023 cx50 turbo for 9 month and 12k miles. Please consider following as a reasons not to switch to Cx50 : 1. Cx50 handellingand does not feel as intimate as GTI. 2. Paint chips extremely easily. Consider to spend $$ on PPF with Mazda. 3. Mazda DOES NOT listen to its owners. The remote start software MazdaConnect does not allow you to set the climate settings. The engine shut down once the door is open… these are Extremely annoying quirks especially during winter season. And there is no software update to fix these issues for more the a year. The software bugs could be fixed in one week. 4. New Cx50 depreciates $8-$10k in its first year. GTI holds its price extremely well. 2023 Cx50 turbo ride with 20 inch wheels is loud and harsh. I still like cx50 compared to other small SUVs, but if you do not need such to support your lifestyle - stick with GTI.
@Incomudro1963
@Incomudro1963 2 месяца назад
@@vrojcov I already ditched the GTI for a CX5 (non turbo) - not 50. I didn't expect the CX5 to handle like the GTI, but the Mazda handles extremely well. I'm very happy with the handling of it for an SUV. As for paint chips, the forum I was on for the GTI had numerous people saying that paint chipped easily. As for remote start - I don't use it. I started to download the app, then thought "Why the hell am I doing this?" I don't want to 'eff around with my phone to deal with my car. I don't always even take the phone with me. As for ride - I stuck with 17" wheels with generous sidewalls. I'm done with huge huge wheels and low profile tires. I don't miss my GTI at ALL.

I recently replaced my 2017 Golf R (manual) with CX-50 GT Turbo. After a 2-week of daily driving in Canada, I am super satisfied with the performance of CX-50. I am a big fan of Mini (have owned 5-door S and Clubman S), and this CX-50 GT Turbo is very much like Mini Countryman (probably performs somewhat between S and JCW in my opinion). Unlike the other SUV competitors, sport mode with the paddle shift in CX-50 provides you much more fun driving experience like Mini. But, be prepare for a bad fuel economy when you drive it like Mini ;) The performance of CX-50 is even much better (feeling) than 2021 BMW X3. I have also owned 2019 SQ5, but I think CX-50 Turbo is more fun in city driving (SQ5 is much better in a high speed though). This is a very interesting vehicle. My wife just bought a new car. She chose the Honda CRV but test drove a CX-5, CX-50 and RAV-4. She immediately eliminated the RAV-4. Her observation was that the CX-50, while having higher ground clearance, rode lower and the ride was a bit too harsh for her, so that was eliminated next. For her it was a toss-up between the CX-5 and CRV. Among all of those options, my preference would have been the CX-50. Between those two my preference was the CX-5, for better driver experience and for what I believe should be better long term reliability, given its mature platform. She chose the CRV primarily because she has owned one before and she is best friends with somebody whose husband is a Honda mechanic, lol. Ok.

@@CarGuy11 - Yeah, I don't think the CRV was a bad choice at all and I told her, while I had a preference, I thought both were good choices. She wasn't going to go wrong picking from those two. @Ricky-mo6mv Don't put too much emphasis on what those people think. They are the crowd that expected the CX50 to be exactly like a cx5. What sense does that make? Hey meet my new car, same as the old car! Mazda designed the 50 for a different buyer. The CX5 is really a lower priced luxury vehicle the CX50 was designed to be more utilitarian and so they didn't make the interior as sophisticated. There are cheaper plastics in it. I've been in both and I thought the 50 was just fine. Mazda just put the money in different places on it. Like the Pano roof, the larger interior, which the 5 doesn't have. They gsve the buyer 2 different choices but some fans of the 5 can't understand that.
