Good on you guys for choosing to review a lower end model. Most channels review (probably because they are sent) the completely specced out model, but most people are not going to buy that one, so other than providing some pc porn, that's not very helpful. So thx for this one.
About to order the 7590 with fhd, i7, 1650, and 16gb of ram. I am only getting the 256gb to start, but this will be my second device and i will upgrade to something bigger and faster in the future! Super excited as it will be my first laptop! :)
Great review, just bought the new XPS 15 with the i7. Was comparing this and the Lenovo X1 Extreme 2. Nice to see a review that doesn't involve the 4K display.
Thanks for this videos, as I read from the other comments and RU-vid content about laptops is that's almost everyone tests the highest models. I'm planning to get the base model i5 with the Gtx 1650, 256ssd and the bigger battery for $1240. Again thanks for the video from Colombia 🇨🇴
If you don't need the hard drive bay, you can buy the 97Wh battery and fit it in the base model. Looking at the service manual pictures, it seems to fit the hard drive bay's mounting holes.
I kept watching reviews about the higher end models and I really felt the need of knowing how the lower models performed and how the "basic" FHD screen was... Finally I found this video! There should be more like this around!
If you wanna use it for gaming a lot I suggest you buy a cooling pad cos you'll burn up the laptop it does get hot quickly. I use it for gaming and it works fine plays 4K games. I have the i7 16GB Ram
I purchased this model, i5 9th gen, and was hard to find a video about it. Too many models, several years of XPS 15. I got it to watch videos, and do other things... but not for video editing as a PRO. For gaming my Note10+ with Candy Crush :)
woww...super detailed...I was looking for the FHD model review which explains about the contrast ratio and brightness of the display and I am seriously wowed coz I went looking into some well known channels and could not find this stuff. Thanx for measuring the display specs as display is a very imp thing for me.... although I'd skip the 4k bcoz of the battery life and oled burning. Anyway I am waiting for the 2020 model with the 10th gen cpus. Looking forward to your review on them. Please elaborate on the battery life Thanks a lot for the review. YOU deserve a lot of subs SUBBED!
Thanks for this, it seems like everyone was reviewing the oled model so they can get the views and the money per view but I am a coder and not a gamer. Couldn't care less about oled. Got an ips
No touch display? That should become standard equipment as far as I am concerned. I know it is basically a gaming laptop, but when someone is not gaming, it is nice to be able to use the touch screen to navigate a webpage. I noticed that some of Dell's laptop offerings do not feature numeric key pads. That too should be standard.
6 cell battery is only +$50 upgrade so it's a no-brainer. Lenovo IdeaPad S940 14" is a decent alternative and honestly probably even better looking. The key thing to remember is higher spec and 4k screen = less battery life and laptop throttling from overheating. I appreciate a review like this because for people that need a laptop for general use, this is one of the best, especially with the base 1080 IPS model.
Bought this laptop less than a week ago. Eventually chose the 7590 i7 16gb fhd version as i am a student and also planning to edit videos on this machine (perhaps with Final Cut pro after i hackintoshed it i dunno xD) . Hope it turns out to be an amazing choice! (P.S. Groetjes uit Den Haag😉)
Great Video!! Like that you tested a smaller specced version. Maybe I missed, but did you also measure the gamut coverage of the FHD screen? Does it fulfill it's advertised 100% sRGB coverage??
Nice to see you guys . For me this is awesome its give nice performance and looks pretty good with blue rgb lights on keyboard and Lovely Video guys , Love You TechTesters.
I have the XPS 15 7590 and it has been an absolute nightmare! Screen flickering rendering unusable which was apparently a "known issues" with the XPS and I've also had to pay to replace easily broken parts even though I'm under warranty because it was "accidental" which isn't covered. Not going to be buying Dell again...
I wasn't sure about this laptop, but thanks for the review, looks like I'll be getting the new Thinkpad X1 Carbon. More IO ports, and chargeable with USB C.
I will buy the version with 16gb of ram, the i7, the gtx1650, 512gb of ssd but still the 1080p display.... What really bothers me is that for me this laptop design sucks, I can't really stand it. I wanted a razer but here in Italy they aren't a thing
Thats the 9760 spec I got myself, although the old i7 is a lot weaker unfortunately. As for the design, can't argue taste right? :D Either way, enjoy it!
$1400 euros? and it only came with 8 gigs of ram and only integrated graphics? doesnt sound like a good deal to me. Maybe I'm not too aware of the prices in netherlands, but thats really expensive for a laptop like that where I'm from
Almost all PC tech channels are copying eachother ..... a bunch of old motherboards and graphics cards shown on the background. Not here, there are some beautiful plants everywhere. Also, there are some freaky guys explaining their stuff which gets old very soon. Instead, on this channel you get a lovely lady which knows how to make love to the camera and appears to be someone really nice. Subbed and liked, groetjes van België
Did they change the lid color of the new XPS 15? I see on the beginning of the video that both laptops are kinda different, the 9560 looks a darker gray but the new 7590 is kinda a bright silver?
hi, does anyone here have a serious banding issue and bad mid-tones in Dell XPS 15? It was a recommended laptop for photo and video editing, 4k display, awesome colours hurray, but stuff like that happens. I have BIOS and drivers up to date, downloaded Dell PremierColor, intel graphics settings and nothing works. Does anyone know how to fix this or have better laptop in mind? Thanks a lot
Is this base model XPS without any dedicated GPU sufficient to run data science softwares??? Or do I need any GPU for this purpose??? Please someone clarify this for me.... Thank you....
i am a student. i do lots of note writing. which laptop among hp spectre or dell xps 15 will be suitable for note writing. i want pen support with smooth writing.
You look so fresh 😍 Also as usual useful content and excellent and quality shots. As for Dell, Seeing that they had such an amazing machine it saddens me that the newer Dell 15's have nothing more than USB-C ports which makes them useless to me. The worse decision Dell has ever made and that's why I'm seriously considering switching to HP.
This makes me drool over the new XPS15 9500 base model, but in the US, you can't get the new one with the bigger battery. Dell always leaving you one thing short of what you really want. But thanks for the review.
@@TechTesters i dont know i was just asking as i wasnt sure if i should get the matte fhd rather than uhd the glossy one (specially for better battery performance and lower budget).
@@EzeRazor if you have budget for the 4k display it is really, really nice to work with. But if you don't, the 1080p matte display is great too and you shouldn't feel bad for picking it :)
Techtesters hello : I want to get a laptop with a nice screen, but windows used to have lot scaling issues on high resolution displays, where things can appear blurry ,is that still the case ? If so I want to get a mac
It's strange to me that when you buy a high quality brand new laptop like this for 1400 Euro it's not able to play games also. I haven't been in the laptop marked for about 5 years, but apparently nothing has changed.
@@TechTesters I should pay 1400 EUR for the build quality of XPS 15? I was hoping 1400 EUR would also get me enough power to play today's games, just not at the highest settings. If I just want a laptop to do Office and watch videos I can get one much cheaper than 1400 EUR, so it's not clear to me that XPS 15 is really worth it.
I had a terrible experience with this computer. I did my research and I thought it was for me but it turned out a real piece of shit. Massive software and hardware issues from day one. I am still trying to get my money back from Dell but they don't make it easy, I've wasted hours and hours on the phone with them trying to fix it when all I want is my money back. It's within 14 days or receiving it but they keep drawing it out. A waste $2k.
Skip the Oled version, totally no Gamut controls, Dell Premier Color does not install, so very poorly crafted selection of hardware and not fully supported. Due to the Nvidia optimus GPU that is driven by the Intel Driver... its a nice display but if you want to true rgb colors in all applications do NOT take the Oled. Dell does not yet confirm but its still under review. They offered me a refund with no reason or solution for it.
