Is the DigitalLife U2AUDIO7-1 any good?

DigitalLife is probably a brand that you have never heard of. It’s made by a company called flykantech and is from China. They were kind enough to send me this, the U2Audio7-1. An usb external sound card that is capable of driving a surround set, headphone, line in and a stereo microphone! Now if that doesn’t sound cool, I don’t what will. The codec is the CM6206! According to Cmedia, “A highly integrated single chip usb audio solution.” A codec that I haven't reviewed before. So how good is it?

That flat frequency response is what most mixing and mastering engineers are looking for, combined with studio headphones or studio speakers you have a very affordable music studio. When music is being mixed and mastered you need to have the flatest frequency response possible so the music will sound good on everything from laptop speakers to clubs to big arena line arrays

Movies in 7.1 from a laptop connected to a Digital or analog 5.1 or 7.1 I tested the device and it sounds really good connected to a 5.1 system. VCL Mediaplayer, Netflix, Games set to multichannel and it it ready to go.

Ik denk dat de doel groep beginnende twitch streamers is , je zou met de twee inputs een microfoon bij twee plekken kunnen meer zetten b.v keuken streamers e.t.c, twitch is heel populair dus ik denk dat vanuit een marketing strategie, klinkt mij het meest logisch. I think this is aimed for beginners on twitch who could use a multiple microphone input for one area and themselves say kitchen streamers for example. Since twitch is quite big that's the only marketing strategy that makes sense to me.

Hah, never even knew this existed! Definitely an oversight that it won't auto switch to headphones, or that is has a hardware button to switch. And here we have an example of a device that measures "okay," but sounds bad. Those two things are so often at odds. Fun review as always, nicely done Anton.

It sounds good actually. I don’t know what happened here, but the 5.1/7.1 is not bad at all.
