We call them Pajero over here. I have 2006 Gen 3 Mitsubishi Pajero GLS 3.0L V6 24V Petrol, LWB. Incredible cars. I've also had the Gen 1 LWB and two Gen 2 SWB versions 👌🏿 Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
Greetings from the UK. Over here they are called a Mitsubishi Shogun. We have a decent UK based Facebook community. They are an excellent truck and it’s nice to see they are loved around the world. Excellent video mate! Loving the front bumper!
If anyone gets an oil leak dripping on the hot exhaust pipe burning and smoking don't panic, its the Cam Sensor o ring its a 2 min $2 fix its also best to change the cam cover gasket also. I can see these cars getting 1 million kms on the clock in another 10 years just keep an eye on underbody chassis rust.
Got a 06 Montero. Put an OME suspension on it with stiffer springs, 1.5" lift in rear and 1.35 in front. Makes a huge difference when towing or carrying a load.
Looking for an overland rig and just a couple days ago came across and started thinking about a montero. Pretty cool vid. I’ll def give it some consideration.
I subscribed to this channel and a member of the Facebook group but don’t even own a Montero. Someday soon, been trying hopefully before prices jack up like they did for the GX
One day I will have a Monty! I was doing some reading.. i found it very cool that the Gen3 unibody was actually quite stiffer and stronger than the traditional ladder frame design during testing. Also, you’re right about the community aspect. It can completely change the thoughts and perspective on car ownership with certain makes or models. I wish the LC100 community was more like the Montero community, I try to bring those good vibes, but that only goes so far. Great video, dude!
Well said. The community is a legitimately consideration when buying a 4×4. The Montero community is great, I'd be completely lost without the knowledge these guys have.
I have a 2004 Montero. It's more like a hybrid construction: unibody but there is a ladder frame embedded underneath that gives it incredible stiffness because the axles and suspension components are not connected directly to the unibody like in a regular SUV.
@@amirali619 awesome, you won't regret it! Just make sure do the following ASAP: -check upper timing chain guide (worth replacing OEM as they're very cheap) -replace fuel filter every (or second) service -if you've got time, do an EGR delete - these are quite common to clog up
You talk about traction control system, and how he work almost like a locker, but Mk3 SuperSelect model has a locker in the rear axle, and a central locking differential. I saw a lot of this cars with a R/D Lock switch from factory, near the heat seat buttons, where i see you have some red switch. ( Sorry for my bad english, i'm from Europe, Romania )
Bruh, rear spoiler has to be top 3 at least for sure. The groups are indeed awesome & I'm just salty on my 01 xls not having the cruise control :) though I get to avoid the butterfly valve & brake booster woes.
@@montanamontero I doubt I would've bought my 01 XLS without it :) I do love the big sunroof and the spoiler. Coupled with bedliner, tint etc makes the truck look more than a decade younger.
I would love a video showing in depth your front and rear bumper setup, the approach and departure are one of the worst things on the monty, it looks like you have a good setup
Man I love the rig ! I would really love an 03-06 but Im gonna be looking at a really clean 01 today . Really debating if I should just wait for a clean 03-06 to come up or just snag this 01 today.
I have an 02 and an 03 monstero and the one thing i noticed is my 02 has a rear LSD , but no traction control My 03 is open diff but has traction control. I am tempted to swap the LSD to my 03 and see how much more capable it becomes 😅
great vid! thanks! I was a owner of a Nissan Patrol GR from 2001 long base, real heavy duty. today's I am considering that Mitsubishi or a Gen 2... because I thought that gen3 with that body "without chassi" and independent suspension all 4 weels will bet a down side :-/ how do you compare a 2nd gen vs a 3rd gen? will a 3rd a good go?
I want a 3rd gen but there's nothing wrong with my 2.5 gen. She has 474k miles on it and still pulling strong. I can't justify buying another montero (I have 2) 😅😅
I prefer the earlier NM 2000's models, they had the LSD standard in the rear as opposed to TC and it's just a simple well proven combo. No need to wait for it to build vacuum pressure as well if you're using TC heavily off road
I think many people want to make something what it particularly isn't. From Experience, I feel the Montero is a great Camping, Off Road/Snow/Rain and Mud SUV and great multi-purpose vehicle. But Not a 100% Overlanding Vehicle like alot of the Overlanding Community try to make it out to be as an option.
@@rolldog82 look under your hood where it gives you the engine code (firewall, passenger side) and see what axle gear ratio you have. If it doesn't have the 4.90s I would consider that first instead of the swap. You can get them at the junkyard for cheap
