Is the GTA Trilogy Fixed on Switch?

I appreciate your video, most videos I see on the Definitive Edition just focus on small glitches that don't really effect the game, when all I wanted to know is if it's still playable and fun. I've been dipping back into Vice City on my switch and I have to agree that while it's not perfect, it's still very fun and the new controls make the missions less of a pain in the arse. The only real issues I've run into is the AI seems a lot more chaotic than I remember from PS2 as I've seen at least one crazy npc crash through lightpoles every time I go from one mission to the next.

Regardless of how well it runs, the game must have sold decent numbers for them to make solid port of Red Dead 1 for the Switch, considering before this trilogy, all they had on the Switch was LA Noir, I'm gonna assume this probably sold fairly well on the Switch.

Somethings I've noticed is when you're drive a vehicle fast, it looks like there's an invisible carpet underneath the vehicle...

I‘ve played all 3 of these in the last few months, and I must say that San Andreas feels the most refined. In December I finally beat San Andreas and it was a lot of fun, crashed once during the entire palythrough. Just 2 days after that, in January, I started Gta 3 and would always play after work. Took me 5 days, and I don‘t remember it crashing but there were a lot of bugs, however they didn‘t break the game. The driving tho, it just feels awful. I‘m happy to have R2/RT/ZR as a drive button, but the cars themselves drive a lot better in the original. After beating gta 3 I played San Andreas again to get my first platinum trophy. Crashed/Froze twice during the entire 71hr playthrough, I found more bugs this time, especially in the Casino. Also the lack of couch co-op sucks since I really enjoyed playing co-op back in PS2 days. So, I started Vice City at the end of April to get my second Platinum and finished it mid May. They did Vice City dirty. It was still a lot of fun to play, but the game froze around 5-10 times during a 33hr playthrough. The cars handle so bad and the collision is super awful. It still has is the least refined version of these 3 and it shows, which is pretty sad because Vice City is my favorite of these 3. I do know that San Andreas is by far the best, but the atmosphere and fun of Vice City is unmatched.

Ironically, the gta trilogy released under Netflix fixes most lighting issues and performance.

Can confirm for anybody that's bothered by it the weapon wheel glitch on switch is due to image upscaling. The pc version has the same glitch if you enable dlss. If you disable it the glitch goes away. The reason the xbox and playstation consoles don't have the glitch is because they don't use image upscaling for these games like the switch. Unless another patch comes out post the mobile ports of the game you won't get rid of this anytime soon.

Thanks God in my country they are like $25 now. The price that they should sell on day one.

The biggest one I experience on the switch with san andreas is bicycles don't stop going full speed as soon as I get them

For 3 and VC they needed to add swimming /diving climbing and aiming while moving/ crouching when you are shooting. Car color changes

It’s so good on switch now

People like myself would rather have 720p-1080p 60fps ports of the original PS2 trilogy on Switch with some minor QoL improvements like a checkpoint system, a pause map on GTAIII, maybe even a couple of graphical sliders turned up here and there like extended draw distance. But nope. Rockstar and Grove Street Games want to instead give Switch owners these stuttery, all-over-the-place looking blurry mess of a buffet that not only run worse, but visually looks worser than the originals. Mainly because of the games' original art direction built for the RenderWare engine clashing with these newer more modern graphical FXs of Unreal Engine 4. But all of these issues pretty much boils down to the team and publisher who did an absolutely bad job on the whole ordeal behind the scenes. If you want an overall better, more faithful looking experience of the "Definitive" trilogy, go play the recently released port of the DE trilogy on either Android or iOS. From the looks of it these versions are a lot more fixed up, ported by a more competent studio, and there's an option to turn on "Classic Lighting". Which mimics the exaggerated lighting style of the original PS2 for each GTA games while also retaining the bones and assets of UE4. So you pretty much get the best of both worlds. Only thing that's still missing are some licensed music on the radio. Which Rockstar will NEVER pay for because they're a small indie company that doesn't have a cash printing online game that makes millions of billions every year.

When on sale? The only reason i bought this "definitive" edition was because the price was going up and it was sold out everywhere so i had to grab even though i was hoping to get it for cheap. No excuses for Rockstar why these ports were that bad and not all games on the cartridge. These are 20 years old games so i have no idea how they messed this up this badly

It‘s now on sale for 30 bucks. I tried all games years ago on my phone, make a mess in the city, but never really played through it. Is it worth it, buying on Switch?

Sticking to PS2 with this one

Anyone encountering any weird stuff on gta3 on switch? Most times when I exit my safe house on Staunton Island there seems to be a mass pile up of cars to the right on the busy road. I don’t know why but more often than not it’s usually 3-4 overturned cars that seem to explode. I never remember that in the original.

For some reason GTA 3 and specially Vice City does not run well on my Switch (an oled but that shouldn't matter as far as I know) too many crashes. But San Andreas yes to my surprise, zero crashes at the moment. I'm on the San Fierro part of the game btw

Hey, Iliked your review. Just one BIG THING, that I feel needs to be mentioned to the public. Because it IS a massive thing to people like me who buy physical games, to receive actual "PHYSICAL GAMES"...and that is, GTA VICE CITY (the best game of the lot) is not included in the cartridge 🤨!!!!! ...you have to DL it 🤢!!! That is NOT good at all for a physical game release and it winds me up when they do this sort of thing. They did the same thing with Resident Evil Revelations, where one of the games was missing and I'm sure they've done it to others. That, in my opinion, is ripping off the customer. A physical game, is your guarantee that you OWN this game! A DL is susceptible to file corruption or even deletion (if files get corrupted and you need to refresh/reset your console, that game is gone!)..which is why, in my "old school" way, I prefer proper physical games. they're yours for keeps..just like the old days!😀 Also missing, are the FULL soundtracks. You won't find all the songs that were on the original games..now whats that all about?? As a final insult and salt in the wounds, the cheats don't work on these titles from what I hear...come on nINTENDO..sort it out! This set is not for diehard fans of the original series, because that would have been a direct port if it was. This game is for newbies who wanna play these classic, and somewhat retro games, but whom have absolutely no reference point as to what the original games were like .i.e. they never actually played them, so they cannot be disappointed by crappy ports. Anyone who played and loved the originals will be disappointed, at least in some ways. The only way to port classic games, is to just port them, warts and all. No fancy upgrades or bollocks like that, because they always end up ruining the experience. The games are classics for a reason, people loved them the way they were, so leave the damn things alone!! Damn it!! 😅

I am wondering since they are releasing a mobile port that has notable chances, if they are going to update the console ports as well

I was never a big fan of the GTA games, I thought the missions were a chore.I personally like the Saints Row games on the Switch, especially the alien one. They were way over the top.

I "Good Enough" is the Rockstar standard of quality. They need to fix everything. People paid money for this. If they knew they couldn't do it properly, they should have just ported the original versions to Switch.

Have they updated the game in recent months? Considering getting it but visual fidelity looks terrible and the frame rate looks inconsistant. Did they end up adding the nostagic lighting?

Anyone getting frame drops on all 3 titles still? I was getting frame drops on San Andreas on some missions, wish they’d patch this as games like Zelda run on the switch solidly..

Not FIXED but it runs better than what I saw at launch and graphics look somewhat updated from the original releases…in SOME portions of the game. I also like the addition of GTA V controls. Never played the first two games to completion. Good purchase for me and it was on sale half off on the eshop.

Hey! I have an opportunity to pick this up for 25cad (current avg for this game is around 50) Would it be worth it around this price point? Also, how big is the required download on switch?

The on issue I ever had with the game was the rain in GTA 3 other then that y’all complain too much

They should have just ported the original versions to Switch. The 10th Anniversary versions would have been even better. I'm playing all three on 4 year old Google Pixel 4a with a Kishi and they look and run way better than this bullshit. They run at 60fps too. No excuse for this. If it ever goes down to $19.99 I'll pick it up for the switch just for convenience. (*Oh yeah, and the Anniversary editions ran like shit and constantly crashed for years after I bought them. They must have finally updated them. There should be regulations on these types of things.)

I played vice city and currently through 3 It’s Okai It runs mostly well it does what it should Now I saw not many bugs anymore I think for anyone interested it’s Okai for 30 bucks or 20 not more

The gtas in the trilogy are the ones i play the most i dont like how 4 and 5 are slow and clunky and the load times on 5 are awful on previous gen but i still like 4 wnd 5 i also love saints row 2 3 4 haven't played 1 though

The Vice City game is not on the physical release so they lied to ppl about it & there is a forced "PATCH" (Full game download) that you need to get in order to play VC. I have yet to see any early release before the patch that shows Vice City is on the physical playable with the bugs etc so to me the game is not fixed 😂.

So is it still worth it buy it again I have it when it was released on switch I was disappointed for it but it is worth buying again

Good video, been curious if San andreas would be fixed. Killing it in the name department Josh lol. To give some constructive criticism, while clear and well spoken you sound flat or robotic when reading your script. About halfway through I thought about leaving cause of it. The intro and outro sounded incredibly natural as it was just us hearing you speak natively. Adding some small personal notes might help, maybe saying what your favorite loadout or car was in GTA 3 and you compare how it looks with the updates now, or showing what it looked like on original hardware as a comparison. To use Gman or minimie as examples, they both would let you know when something was there favorite and how it felt in the remake/sequel/etc. You also had some long pauses that broke the flow, It's very subtle but you notice it after a bit. Trimming that down might shave some time off but adding the personal notes will help makeup that and more. Overall it's a good video, those little adjustments will help make the script sound less like a script and more like hearing someone speak excitedly about something.
