It didn't 'adapt' to modern life. The way things are are a reflection of the inner feelings already had which caused it to reflect on the outer world. The truth is a large number of people feel self-hate/self-loathing/self-distrust/insecure, envy, rage, and all other kinds of negative emotions. But technology (excessive use) is a coping strategy that allows us to escape from those feelings. Then, the surface continues to 'erupt' with our inner feelings causing things like cancer, cysts, face bumps/acne, erectile dysfunction, apathy, low energy... It's NOT the fault of 'technology'. This is what we have subconsciously set up for ourselves to opt out of feeling and resolving these negative states. And there are and have been other ways that people have coped these feelings away long before the techno-age. Food was and still is a popular option for avoidance of negative and unresolved resentments/etc. The root of that issue only furthered into escapism because that is our final 'way out' of these negative feelings. We feel too powerless to do anything about it so escape is the next best step to avoidance.

Amazing insight as usual. I really needed to hear this with how bad my internet addiction was becoming. I'm always astounded at how many mysterious forces are at work orchestrating your demise whilst we just become oblivious bystanders lost in some kind of trance. Jungian philosophy should be a mandatory syllabus in schools.

A mass reaction, a mass adaptation of a massive consciousness that can only be known intuitevely.

I remember, years ago, having a conversation with a friend of mine - "the internet is useful.. but maybe we should be a bit weary of something that we describe as a 'web' or 'net'." I love the video boyo. Getting some aion and some will/libido in a video is always great. Making me think of your aion lectures, when my mind got blown every 3 minutes in each video. I'm wondering, because I'm familiar with Nietzsche, Freud and Jung but far from skilled. So when you guys are going all out with the symbols about the internet with: the web, the spider, the devouring mother, etc. How do you know those are actual symbols of the internet and the narrative it creates? In some sense you could argue that your implicit bias about the internet and it's content and/or phenomenons would associate with certain symbols with your bias (like free association ending up at personal complexes), therefore projecting a narrative corresponding your bias. I hope I'm clear here. To maybe state it differently: Would someone with a different bias associate different symbols with the internet, therefore projecting a completely different narrative around it? The are in my question also lots of biases and presumptions so maybe I'm thinking not straight, not seeing the obvious.

This gave me the chills, for years I had this story in my mind about 2 brothers grown up by nature, far from other humans. And then they rejoin society and they are brave enough to do what anyone else is scared to do. And the story always obsessed with "the legend of the young boy", which I never understood, but it was supposed to be a new born that one day was destined to destroy the Beast (a figure very similar to the matrix). When you said that the next aion is the aion of the child I really got the chills (it was the first time I ever heard about that).
