How did you get your SE raws to be so clear? I tried it on CameraPixels with the lowest iso on my iPhone 12 but they usually are blurry compared to the stock camera. I’m 100% sure I’m doing something wrong just not sure what. Any help for a beginner would be appreciated :) Btw loving videos like this!

You nailed it with one single sentence. "When youre a RAW shooter, in decent light." Thats all you needed to say mate. I cant see any diference with any of them really in decent light. Low light is another story all together. 13PM is leaps and bounds ahead of previous generations in low light. I like the edit of this video mate, keeps you engaged.

Thanks Shayne! Definitely. Got a low light video planned after I cover Cinematic mode. (I’ll be re-checking out your videos on it before I make it.) Thanks about the edit too. I shot everything on my phone, A-roll and B-roll, and am really happy with how it looks and sounds.

The one behind the iPhone makes a big difference. Tech specs comes in second place. :) really nice photos!

The frame averaging capabilities of each phone sure makes a difference but the proof was in the pudding with the single frame RAWs. The 13’s sensor may have bigger pixels but the finished, processed image can look just as good from whatever iPhone you’re using. I think it’s when folks make their judgement based on JPG photos is where they’re thinking their older devices are inferior. Sure, the newer iPhones have beefier chips and better ISPs but you’ll never beat RAW data, no matter what iPhone it comes from. With the right processing technique, as shown by the results here, it’s hard to call an older iPhone inferior.

Well said Greg! This is by no means a complete comparison but you're right, in terms of RAW capture ability, the sensors just haven't improved as much as the hype and marketing would have us believe.

While that might be true if one likes editing RAW, it needs to be kept in mind that people buy iphones to snap quick pictures, and the newer ones do a better job. 99% of people don't have time to faff around editing their pictures, and those that like to do so should probably buy proper cameras anyway. To summarize, yes, the newer iphones are indeed better for 99% of people.

@@AtomAnt1 I write this with respect and in a kind tone, but I have to say I strongly disagree with you when you state that those who like to edit their pictures should buy a proper camera. Five years ago I sold all my Canon DSLR equipment and became an iPhone only photographer. I’ve been producing photos since then that can be often mistaken for DSLR shots. No, I’m not a professional photographer, I don’t make money with my camera, I just prefer to use the iPhone camera as I did my Canon. The camera in the iPhone has obliterated the point and shoot market, which were “proper” cameras, and is the most popular camera used for photos on Flickr, has been for years. Yes, I agree that most people don’t take the time to edit, but that’s because they aren’t photography enthusiasts, but rather they use their phones to capture memories. There is a strong, global community of people who practice photography with their phones, and not just iPhones, so I think 99% is a little high also. Cheers.

@@GregMcMillan I look at the night mode pictures from the 12 and then the 13, and I disagree with the assertion that the 13 is not better. The iPhone is primarily a camera for people that make memories. Serious photographers who edit their pictures are not the primary market. It is extremely disingenuous to claim that the 13 pro Max is not a better camera than even it's immediate predecessor. A camera is much more than mere glass now. The software and processing counts too.

Great review David!!!! I am still debating in swapping my 12 Pro Max to the 13 Pro Max. Based on your review I’d pass but low light is where I may still go for it. Awesome shots with your SE!!!!!

Is it just frame averaging that contributes to lower perceived sharpness on the 13PM? Curious to hear your thoughts on this. I have compared my 13PM to my wife’s 11pm and in almost all cases the photos coming out of her phone on the 1x camera are sharper with more detail in the textures. When you crop in drastically you really see it. Even when taking the exact same picture with the exact same settings in the exact same light. I’ve been wondering why that might be.

I have an unboxing video on my channel of my iPhone 13 pro max in white 128gb. I also have a spigen clear glitter case try on video too, the perfect slimming clear case for this phone. Great clear case but also slimming so it doesn't add more width and weight to the phone.

You compare long exposures. Take a photo with both devices with no long exposure and you´ll see the difference. In 5 minutes you let in so many light, its almost impossible to not have a great result to be honest. Yes, the iPhone 13 is sooo much better. Just compare it in normal usage.
