One thing you missed - in a single lens iPhone (SE 2nd generation) the x1 can be tapped to x2 or x3. When you take a photo, the App saved jpeg at the increased number eg x2 or x3, but HEIC and RAW are at original x1 resolution only.
Thank you for this, I’ve purchased the app and I am using the Halide Mark11 setting 48mp Pro+. I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max and it’s better pics than the native camera. I have a question please, on the halide app, should I have it set to most compatible or the other one for cleanest pics when I upload to Facebook? I’m always confused about that setting, I’m not worried about the storage side on my phone as once I’ve posted pics I delete them all apart from family pics, but the Facebook compression is awful so I’d appreciate your opinion for uploading best quality pics. ❤ Devon 🇬🇧
Excellent instructional video. I have downloaded it to my RU-vid downloads and will use it for reference in the field. I plan to do a lot more experimenting with my iPhone 15Pro.
I purchased the app after watching this and I regret my purchase, I invite other people to consider their options before jumping to purchase the app. After buying the app for a set price, they asked for an expensive subscription to use other features. The app uses a lot of CPU, which can drain the battery quickly. The user interface is also not very easy to use.
I'm so happy he's not making videos anymore. He's so vile to commenters who disagree with him, however is incredibly kind to those who agree with him. He's like Donald Trump of tech RU-vid.
I have an iPhone 12 with a Ulanzi case and an Apexel lens. It is said that the screw is same, but the thread on my Apexel 2x lens seems different?? There is a 5mm gap between the phone lens and the back lens of the Apexel. Could you confirm if you also have this gap? I don't have the Ulanzi lens.
This video is stellar. It sums up everything I struggle with about shooting RAW on the iPhone because the auto-processed files are just ugly. Do you have any experience how RAW on Sony Xperia works? I am interested in switching and I heard Sony gives you internal real RAW in their stock app. I have seen JPGs out of Xperia phones Gen 5 and even these looked a lot more natural than iPhone ever did. The point for me is: I can work around this by using RAW for photos on iPhone, but I can't work around it in video mode and I don't think that using LOG should be the solution to having less sharpening etc. on a phone when capturing video. I shoot Slog2 on my A7R III, but I won't buy a new iPhone for Log recording and edit every single casual shot I take, that is ridiculous.
I think you are the right person to ask this question. I paid for the ReeXpose Long Exposure RAW app to be able to do long exposures in my IPhone 13 mini with the intention of astrophotography. The slowest shutter speed I can 1 second. Is that correct ? I was hoping for 30 seconds and more. There is this interim mode which I couldn’t understand what it’s doing. Suppose I’d like to shoot for 1 hour with single exposures of 60 seconds. So I want to get a total of 60 images each with a 1 minute exposure. If I select 1 minute in the interim mode, 1 hour in the capture duration and 1-second as shutter speed, what will the app do ? Will it stack 60 1-second images and save it as a single image in photos ? But that’s not what I want. If it is stacking 1-second images, the noise will be much higher than the noise in an image shot with a single 60-second exposure. I would like to get the single exposures out of the app and stack them later with an astrophotography software. I don’t want the app to do the stacking. Then what is the interim mode ? I hope my question is clear.
Do you still feel the same about ProCamera? I need anamorphic support, but sadly ProCamera charge a monthly subscription to access those settings on top of the original purchase price which I can't support. Any close alternatives?
Hi David, thank you for this great video! I just wonder if you might still keep Apexel 2x zoom that you reviewed previously, would you review it for the 13 and 15 Pro Max? I wonder if that lens works for much larger sensor and aperture than Xr. Anyways have a great day!
Thank you for your video. To be honest, ProCamera is much better than Halide Mark II. In ProCamera, you have many more shutter speed stops than Halide. It looks like currently ProCamera has been displaying 12-bit information on there viewfinder.
Hello David, can you elaborate some on the moment app and the Fjorden grip? From your video it seem to be a better option than procam since one does not have extra charges for bracketing for example. How is its integration with the grip vs procam?
Newbie just getting really into photography with my iPhone 14 Pro. Very interesting but I wonder how you learned these techniques? They are not intuitively obvious! Did you learn them by Trial and error, or are all these methods of tweaking digital photographs documented in books somewhere? I haven’t found a good basic guide yet. Any recommendations? Love your channel.
Three years later, and this tutorial is extremely valuable. I found the app when I was looking for something to do some head shots for my wife and I wanna make sure they look really nice and not just a phone pic. Thanks so much!
Would you recommend the Moment, ProCam 8, or ProCamera App for a serious photographer using an Iphone 11Pro? I have the first two apps, but I'm trying to decide if I need the ProCamera app as well, or if I could maybe replace the other two apps with the ProCamera app.
David i have just bought my first ever iPhone today and in your opinion, is Pro Camera the best Pro Camera app for my iPhone as I have seen others from Reeflex, Halide, ProCam 8, Moment and others, which one would you recommend sir and thank you for your great videos.
Just fyi I subscribed to this channel and to your IG account. I love that you are all about iphone and you seem to be a very smart kind of technical guy. Thanks.
Some good / useful stuff in there 🤔 Stabilisation even when using gimbal goes against everything DJI and others say and as I already get ultra smooth shots using my iPhone 15 Pro Max with a Osmo 6 (iPhone stabilisation turned off) I ain’t gonna mess with adding extra stability via an app. Doesn’t make sense. But totes each to throw own. If the results are pro I ain’t changing it ha. My only real question with all this is the 24fps situ, usually when using my mavic air 2 or phone I shoot at 30 or 60 pending on if I wanna slow or down. They work aces and look super cinematic especially after I edit / apply luts etc But obvs am super curious now about 24fps as I understand filmmakers use this, so I need to now research this purely coz I’m not understanding one aspect of that, the slowing down of the footage will surely look really shit in 24. But am assuming there is a way round that or why else would filmmakers use it. I love the cinematic look so deffo gonna check it out. As I also love the look of cinestill 800T captures. Cheers
