Hellcat and M5 buyers dont mix. The Hellcat is NOT a competitor to the M5. This is a premium product, the Dodge... is a Dodge.

Roman, with all due respect, you’re wrong about it needing more horsepower. It’s quicker to 60 than your hellcat, and it could outclass the hellcat in EVERY way. Why would BMW give it 2-300 horsepower more when it does 60 in 2.8 seconds?

By the tail lights - I saw a lot of very late braking well into corners...a true sign of journalists on track.

The second I saw his hands on the wheel I thought "this guy doesn't know what is he talking about in the track environment". You need +200hp more on a 600hp sedan? True that the M5 could use some weight reduction, rather than more power, but I am pretty sure that is has more to do with the driver than with the car,

when you started comparing this to a hellcat I thought your review was irrelevant. when you said it looked to subtle I was sure. The m5 should be subtle. That's always been the point.

This guy can't even hold a steering wheel properly and he thinks he needs more than 600hp. LOL, hilarious. Not to mention he's american, so he's probably never driven faster than 100 mph on a public road, and can't legally drive anywhere that quickly ANYWAY.

I see the M5 as a large and powerful sedan. That is about it. If I wanted sport, I'd get the M3/4. If I just wanted luxury, 7 series. The M5 is the best option for those who want both... basically a GT car?

I feel bad for Nick having to deal with Roman in this one. It's clear he values specsheets and getting pinned to the back of your seat in a straight line above all else. In no ones mind does a hellcat, or demon, even belong in the same sentence as an M5 when comparing performance.

Only complaint is that Roman is trying to compare a drag car (Hellcat) to a track car (M5). Two very different cars with different buyers. Also, horsepower isnt everything. If you ever get a chance to drive the Alfa Romeo 4C, dont look at the spec sheets before you buy it. See if you are surprised afterwards

This car will rip 0-60 in 2.8 and run a 10.9@129 . Hellcat can't touch this M5.

0-60 in 3.8s ? I can hardly believe that. Mat Watson from carwow did a test at the estoril with a Vbox and got a time of 3.1s 0-60 and 11.1s for the standing quarter.

2.8 to 60 tested that as fast the LAMBO Centenario, 10.9 quarter mile and 190 mph limited speed , make it rwd then its just standard M5 not the competition pack

A car doesn't have to be iconic to be highly desirable. BMW M5s have always been more restrained than their German counterparts. It's what I, and all true M5 lovers, appreciate about the car. The sound is terrific, handling is spot on, interior is classically luxurious and the exterior is properly shaped (from directly behind is looks aggressive). We really don't want the car trying to be somebody else's idea of what a luxury sport sedan "should be."

This car is so much f*ing fun. I have it and I am totally in love with it. To criticize this car, makes no sense. The joy of driving this as an everyday car or even a non-commuter car is 100% true. BMW has created a gem and made sure everything was right about it.

Roman- this car runs a 10.9sec 1/4 mile out of the box bone stock ....the fastest time any publication has gotten for a Hellcat Charger or Challenger is 11.2sec, so I’m not sure why you’re acting as if this car is a slouch in comparison.

Lol can't believe you would mention a hellcat in a M5 video, remotely different as mentioned by others. Its also faster in quarter mile, you are just focusing on the hp stats. You are better than that.

Only problem with BMW M cars is that they NEVER look aggressive enough. Only about 2-3 years down the line (see M3 for example) is when they bring out competition packs, limited edition versions and face lift them. THEN they look like what they should have been at the launch.

This review definitely shows that Roman isn’t familiar with BMW’s. A lot of the features he mentioned was in the last generation M5.

Hellcat? C'mon man...that thing can get its butt kicked on a track by a bog standard Mustang GT from 3 years ago. There is no sense in comparing it to the M5 on any day of the week. If you want straight line performance...fine. But if you want an actual car that kicks all around butt, you get the M5.

People fail to realize that you can put a Hellcat in a 500hp mode which will help with traction on a track with turns. 500hp, street suspension, track transmission, street traction modes. Won’t beat an AWD M5 or E63 at the track but keep in mind the Hellcat is a $70k muscle car, the other two are sports sedans with base price of over a $100k and almost all of them will be ordered with an bunch of options by the dealers, to increase profit. Funny how you have to get a $4k package on an M5 to get cooled front seats and heated rear, but Charger Hellcat comes standard with those. But overall you pay a lot more to get a lot more features. Perfect car to lease while it has the warranty.

The M5 and hellcat are not even remotely comparable, this thing is by far a much better car in practically every aspect since this thing would eat a hellcat alive in the real world.

It'll never match the crazy V10 car for just sheer audacity and madness. If this M5 is to become an icon it must lose weight, lose complexity and be on the verge of killing its owner with impunity the second the traction control is turned off. This car is too safe, but no doubt it will break often so the experience will be almost complete.

great review as always guys, give it 4/6 months and someone will have a turbo or supercharger package upgrade for this M5 and you will have your hellcat 700 plus horsepower, If i purchase one of these one of 2 things will happen,lease it and get another one in 2 years or buy it and get all the warranty purchasable for it,as Roman said there is allot of technology in this car

Get a Dinan tune or something similar and the m5 is truly a beast. With that said M cars have never been about straigtline perforamce and aren't purchased for that reason.

This car is rated at 3.2 second for 0 to 60 and there is accurate recordings of 3.1s from other reviewers.. I don't know where you got the "This is 3.5 second car" part. But decent review regardless.

Roman - while they are not direct competitors, did you prefer M5 or RS5. Assuming Audi launches an RS5 Sportback, my decision will be RS5 Sportback (and put $30k in my Audi maintenance/repairs fund), or M5... Living in New England, I'm hoping this new M-AWD is available on the next gen M3 (blasphemy, I know). A C63s with 4Matic-plus would be a very welcome option too...

No disrespect, first time watching your video's. This has to be the worst review ever of any performance car. You need 200 or 300 more horsepower on the track yet you haven't driven not 1 time to the limits of this car... Learn to drive.

I am a bmw owner but Benz is killing tha game Benz interior is just out of this world when sit in new Benz it’s new but when u get in bmw it’s kinda same design since 2012 and this new gen 5 series just look like another 3 series and rear is not my thing but Benz is u can differ c e and s class

In the 2WD/RWD mode does it just move more or most of the torque to the rear wheels making it like a 20/80 split for example or does it truly becoming rear wheel drive?? If so that is amazing technology right there. But something tells me it probably just proved Most of the torque to the rear.

Don’t mention quad pipes because m5 has been quad since the e39, m550i xdrive would not differ much in style compared to the m5, with a tune the m550i will compete with e63 and m5.
