Keep in mind that i’ve seen the calculation others have done and i get where the value is. Personally tho i’m not a huge fan of the implementation of this new builder but i see the concept was definitely on the right track. hopefully we’ll see some changes well after the update drops

Here is a list of how long it takes to get a return on your investment with each level: Payback times compared to builder potions: Level 1 (TH10): 94.74 days, 500 cost Level 2 (TH10): 94.74 days, 1000 cost Level 3 (TH11): 110.53 days, 1750 cost Level 4 (TH11): 118.42 days, 2500 cost Level 5 (TH12): 132.63 days, 3500 cost Level 6: (TH12): 142.11 days, 4500 cost Level 7 (TH13): 148.87 days, 5500 cost Level 8 (TH14): 153.95 days, 6500 cost formula is (Apprentice Gem Cost/Hours Saved per day)/(Alternative Gem Cost/Hours Saved) I used builder potions which makes the second bracket 285/54. Goblin builder is much cheaper at 5/3 or 285/171 which is 3.16x better, but goblin builder gives a building downtime, isn’t always available, and is worse value than the goblin researcher (unless you don’t need the researcher), but if you wanted to use goblin builder’s cost in the formula then it would be: Payback times compared to goblin builder: 1: 300 days 2: 300 days 3: 350 days 4: 375 days 5: 420 days 6: 450 days 7: 471(3/7) days 8: 487.5 days Goblin builder is much more efficient than builder potions in exchange for more buildings being down, but he is not always up, and spending 6500 gems in goblin builder would be pretty hard because that takes 162.5 days of constant upgrades, which is longer than he is available for. Obviously you are unlikely to spend all of your gems on builder potions or the goblin builder anyway, but it is impossible to compare cosmetic, ore, wall ring, etc value to builder time. Also note that books of building are less cost efficient than the goblin builder unless a 23 1/2 day long upgrade gets added, so I haven’t used them in the lists, but you can do it if you put it into the formula (if the book will save 14 days, that will be 336 hours, so (925/336) is your formula) hopefully this covers everything you will need about this new builder

TL:DR, you need to use the apprentice builder 154 times to break even, gem-wise. So, quick math calculation: - upgrading to max lvl costs 6500 gems, which is ~22.8 builder potions - assuming 6 builders, a builder potion saves you 54 hours - Each use of the apprentice builder saves you 8 hours - We have 54*22.8 / 8 = 153.94 - Roughly 154 uses of the apprentice builder to match the value of buying 22.8 builder potions instead

I am mostly free to play and i’m immediately going to dump all of my gems in the apprentice builder. I am th14 and really the only things I spend gems on are hero books, small remaining upgrade times and sometimes the goblin builder but these aren’t really great investments. It’s also so easy to get gems at the moment in clash, people think 1000 gems is a lot but i can get that in less than 2 month, once you’ve unlocked the 6th builder just always sell all your builderbase items like runes, starbonus potions and clocktower potions. Make sure to upgrade your gem mine and use the clock tower boost every day, clear all the bushes. If you are a somewhat consistent disciplined clash player you will get the the value of your gems back.

As a veteran f2p (10+years exp) , this Is a BIG NO!!!.. gems is very expensive, you can hardly get 5k-6k gems in a years considering you play all events. 😂😂😂

No than you, i would rather pay 285 gems get 60 hours worth work from 6 builders.

Anything free is good value anyways i donot feel any value spending my gems on other things too so i will just spend them on this guy

With 6 builders working 24hrs, 144hrs of upgrade timers is reduced. With the aprentice builder its 152. Only a 5.5% increase for 6500 gems

they should have a challenge that allows you to unlock it like the new hero equipment

After calculation if we use max apprentice builder compare to builder position it took 171 days to beat the builder potion, so it's worth it

New troop is druid which has dual role….and he can heal too

I think they should buff the amoutn of efficiancy of which he works at cause even at the highest level he still cant compare to the builder potions

Maybe if they made it 10x like the potion it would be better but even then it still seems like too many gems. Think it’s to incentivise that immediate 50 purchase since that’s a specific option in the shop for the exact amount you need

I did the math and if you are a new th13 then the ab would save you about 57 days if you go to max th 16

I think long term it is an infinite speed up compared to perishable builder potions etc. Considering they plan to release new THs every 12 months! However at the moment I am using all my gems on the extra goblin for the lab as with the new building time cuts the lab is what needs more investment to catch up. I feel they should make the Apprentice builder more valuable by allowing to speed up a building timer OR a troop/spell being researched

Lol the full ores pop up as if people ever got full. They keep adding equipment it's literally impossible to max your equipment without paying hundreds.

I do think it has some problems, but i think it's a while lot better not being sure what to spend gems in and just deciding to use them up on a skin

I don't really care about gems but I just hope they make it more efficient. They said it's a long term thing that your not supposed to max immediately but I don't really wanna time my log in just for 1-4 hour of boost a day. I really want them to have a feature where they stack the uses if you forgot to use it that day or something so it won't feel like a lost

The tactical overview will help so much in ll attacks. Always wanted something like this in the past, a great addition. And yeah, apprentice builder is useless, I'm maxed not needed lol.

i think its a good addition you dont have to max him out immediately i just recently got 3k gems from challenges so i just dumped him into the apprentice builder and knock off 5 hours a day is awesome considering its free i dont spend gems on anything other than 1 gem donations

I think that is grat, i saved gems for years, i had 22000 gems and i didnt know how to spent them, and this new builder save 1 day every 3 day, its worth it

I had more gems than I would use at the moment so I bought it for 500 gems or whatever the startup cost was and I will only use it 1 hour a day so I guess eventually it will recoup its cost. But after having watched your video, I would just get a potion with the gems in the future.

so this is basically clock tower boost for main village but with gems to upgrade.

Builder potion is only going to give 10 hours in 1 hour with spending some currency every week. But if you have the max level apprentice builder u can have 8 hours off every single day. 8×30=240hours which means you can save 10 days every month for that gems and personally I think it is really worth it.

As a free to play player, I've always been been apprehensive about spending gems so never use them. And just from saving have gone over 8,000. I'm currently at just under 6,500 so I plan on just maxing him out as soon as I get my apprentice builder.

While it does take a long time to make your value back, once you do break even it becomes invalueable

it would have been better if they just gave us a 7th builder for a little over 4K gems with additional apprentice builder features (using him to speed up a building)

I feel like there should be another way to upgrade the builder apprentice through hours worked instead of gems(not worth it) like if the apprentice hit 100 hours or so it would upgrade and so on.

I am a th 12 player, I'm not really one for cosmetics so i don't really spend gems unless for small speed ups in upgrades, once i heard of the apprentice builder i instantly spent my gems on it because i know it would help me on the long run

I have a structure that will improve faster than the heroes, so I don't see the point of buying it if it can't help improve the heroes or pets.

If only my internship getting paid as high as apprentice builder 😢😂

Well I have more than 10k gems , in my 4 ID but the thing is 6.5k is too much for this apprentice builder, if supercell doesn't decrease the cost of it by 4k or 4.5k then I'm not buying it

omg thats so fucking cool, now you wont have a upgrade finishing 1h after you go to sleep and lost the nigth of builder work, you just speed it up a lil bit and start a new one. i was using my potions to do that but it'll cost way less

I have more than 14,000k gems and they were all obtained for free, but you have to take into account that I have been playing since 2014 and that I never really know what to spend my gems on, except sometimes in the goblin builder but it is very expensive and only temporary , this builder is FOREVER, it is something that people are not seeing well

For long-term goals, it's worth every single gem. I'm planning to play COC for as long as it's around, so it's better to invest early and max out the apprentice buider to get your returns sooner if your goal is to play long-term

Personally I'll wait th17 to upgrade him, maybe supercell will lower the price for some levels. The idea is good, it will speed up progress for lower th.

121 days of upgrade time saved per year is not bad. In fact it's good.

But if you think about it, 1/4 of all your upgrades is a goddamn good value for 6500, especially if you spend money

Hes actually kinda good. If it cost more than 6,000 gems than yea expensive but if you play Coc for years you get your gems back basically

as someone who do not use gems i can say that builder apprentice is worth it. im playing since 2016 and i have 23k gems, 16.5k now since i maxed out my builder apprentice why is it a good value? 1. computing the total gems u gonna use for the builder apprentice to max is 6500 gems (this includes the 500 after buying it) 2. builder potion from gem store cost 285 each 3. 6500/285 gems = 23 builder potions (rounded off) 4. 23 builder potions x 6builders (assumed) x 10hrs = 1380 hrs saved time 5. 1380hrs / 8hrs per day = 173days if you use the builder apprentice for 173 days (assuming everyday) that will also cost you 6500 gems so for the long run id say builder apprentice is a good value

It should be an independent builder that can be used to upgrade building for 1hr per day. That would make this worth it.

He is Good and in some cases better than a 7th builder since you can focus and speed up a certain upgrade while the 7th builder can't do that

I regret using may gems to max that aprentice b.... Is lyk using builder booost for 1 builder and you need 24 hours to use again for upgrading

I rarely use my th 13 and th 14 accounts and whenever I open it I just remove the obstacles… Currently, I have 6 builders plus 9427 gems on th 14 and 7541 on th 13. However, I think I’m gonna let this one pass. I think it is not worth especially if you are not that active in the game.

I have been f2p for 10 years now and have about 13k gems that I have accumulated during that time this new builder is just the thing I have been waiting to spend them on thoughts?

im a bit late to the party, but here me out the Apprentice Builder is a cool idea, and yes the gem price is RIDICULOUS!! so i got an idea to imporve it a little what if the AB has a EXP bar of his own? basically the more the work, the better he will become, since he only work for an hour, he wont get alot of EXP, but if u keep using him, eventually u will get him to the next LV, you have the option to use gems.

If you are going to be playing the game for next 3 years the apprentice should be worth it.after you max the builder you can focus on builder potions

121 days a year saved or if u wanna count it by how much work the 6 builders do then 20 days a year which is about 50 builder potions worth of value per year which is 14250 gems a year if my math isnt wrong and considering it takes years to max out it will be more than worth it by ur first month of use and especially if ur f2p this is huge looking at it as 50 dollars is idiotic unless ur super p2w and dont do achievements or spend all ur gems on ore/skins/gear

I regret so much buying 3 hero skins last week on the store… I had gems to spend, now those 4500 gems would help A LOT maxing that new apprentice builder. As a FTP player it will be really hard just to get those 1500 gems I need now to max him

it’s not a builder potion a day it’s 8/10ths of 1/6th of a builder potion a day (2/15ths). for 6500 gems? it’s not worth it at all
