Is the Nikon D7000 still good in 2023??

YES. It is! Nikon's 13 year-old DSLR camera is still a fantastic camera to have. The D7000 replaces the D90/D300 DSLRs and it was a pretty big leap ahead of both of those cameras in terms of the tech. If you own a D7000, comment below and let me know what you like/loved about it!

I recently picked up a D7000 with a 18-200mm lens from a garage sale for $180 lol. Although the body and lens looked brand new I still had this feeling that there must be something wrong with either of these or both. When I brought it home and checked it’s shutter count I was surprised as it was only 1,100 something and both camera and lens work flawlessly. Great find 😂😂😂

Loved that camera. Never failed me once. Always delivered great images. Some of my favorite images, actually, as I’ve been looking through my archived photos. Put some good glass on it, go out, and show up all the pixel peepers and gear heads out there who are focusing on the wrong things. Ansel Adams work is good for one reason. He was a good photographer with impeccable technique.

Nikon d7000 has everything that each of us needs, even for professional use. If you know how to use a Nikon d7000 with good old lenses, you can easily compete with photographers who use the latest cameras. If we don't suffer from the complexities of having better equipment, certainly each of us can be extremely satisfied with the Nikon D7000. I also have newer, slightly better cameras. But I still like to use the Nikon d7000 often. Everything else is business. Thanks for your honesty.

The only camera I have found to be a better value than the D7000 is the D7200. It basically improved all the areas I felt the D7000 was somehow short and added missing features like Wifi (as an example) ... But still love the D7000 as it is really a powerfull camera, and has outstanding controls and picture quality when paired with good glass (example the 70-300 VR FX) ... It is a pitty the newer D7500 removed the second SD slot, this is something very cool on the D7XXX family.

I feel that the D7000 was the first Nikon DSLR to have the 'modern look' to its images. Meaning good in low light, JPEG images that are good enough to print and the handing and features are still relevant. I like the D7000, but I don't know that I like the "modern look" of the images as much and prefer the handling of the D700/D300 bodies. So far, I can take the pictures I want (portrait, sunset, silky waterfall, etc.) with a bit of setup and assessories like the ND filters, flashes, softbox, etc. If you go with the simple point and shoot mode (P mode which is mainly use for family travel), I find that the photos tend to be a bit under exposed. There is a focusing problem with the D7000 that comes out with Tamron lenses. Same with the D600 which is based on the D7000. You have to adjust the AF to -15 to -20 and you should be OK. I use a tape measure set at 45 degrees to set focus. The focus at 300mm should improve. I have had this focusing issue on all 4 of my D7000 cameras. Also adjust the image sharpness to it's max and contrast +1 in Set Image control.

I disagree on your idea about the 18-55mm lens, I find it a gem. Cheap and plastic but it takes quality pictures. My idea; ALL modern AF-S 1.8 lenses are great. The 50mm 1.4 certainly NOT, Nikon never made any good 50mm 1.4 lenses; not MF,AF,AF-S.. The MF 1.2 is the sharpest 50mm (on DX or center) certainly when stopped down.

Raw files out of the D7000 are better than the D7100 and D7200 for pushing and pulling exposures too. When pushing exposure, in the shadow regions the D7000 does not show banding, the D7100 does (badly in shadows), and the D7200 will as well (just not as bad as the D71000). It has the best sensor for noise and banding control until you get into the D500/D7500 cameras.

You need to get a Sigma 17 50 2.8. Probably the best of its class. Even beat Nikon's version. The only one better is the brighter and more popular Sigma 18 to 35 1.8. A lot sharper, but no optical stabilizer and a lot more expensive even used.

@BoostLeekdMedia
@BoostLeekdMedia День назад
As long as your shutter speed is higher than 1/1000, you should be good. There are SEVERAL factors as to why you would be getting blurry images; - the lens you're using - your settings - your autofocus mode - how far you are from the F1 cars - what aperture you're on - what shutter speed you're on just to name a few factors that could result in blurry images. I hope this helps. I think if you're new, I would put the camera in Shutter Mode and make sure you're above or between 1/800 - 1/4000...this really depends on the lens you're using as well.

@BoostLeekdMedia
@BoostLeekdMedia 6 месяцев назад
There are a few factors; lighting conditions, the lens you are using, and having the ISO at AUTO-ISO. If you are trying to take photos in a VERY low light environment, it will have trouble with autofocus, and this goes for ANY camera as the camera will need a light source to focus onto the subject. And when you are taking photos in VERY low light situations, the D7000 will raise the ISO to compensate for the low light environment.

Dang, the SB700 is probably not getting power. Good news is that those are pretty affordable now. I just recently got the SB700 for $110 at my local camera shop. It functions as it should. I wouldn't put money into fixing it though. Best thing to do is buy another one if you can, if not, there's definitely something 'off' inside the flash. The D7000 is EXCELLENT for street photography. I brought mine to Chicago and with the 18-200 and it was a VERY fun combo. I can see why people like using the 18-200. I have the 10-20 for my wide angle and I guess it just depends on your style of photography.
