Is The Polaris Slingshot SLR Actually FUN For $30,000?

It’s a nice machine! Just a lot of $$, it won’t replace the fun that one could have with a Ducati or 700/1000 bike.

I rented one on turo with a buddy of mine. Drove from Houston to Austin and back. It shifted as smooth as my brothers Acura Integra (which I learned on). Not particularly fast, but you feel it because of how open you are. Driving by Semis will make you realize how little is between you and the road. The cops will mess with you and pull you over left and right. They assume you are driving too fast or recklessly. On a hill, if you are not careful there can be lots of tire squeel. Reminded me of my dad's old BMW three series.

Just rented a SL and my biggest concern is the brakes. I assume the reason they feel like hockey pucks is because Polaris didn't put the R&D into the traction control system. If they would actually brake hard it would probably get very unstable. I don't blame them, this is a risky investment from the company and the consumer and I praise them for doing it. I'll buy one :)

You should review a Polaris rzr turbo in the desert. It’s a good time and I think it’d make for some cool content.

Addition of wheel and replacement of belt with shaft will make it the real beast on the road.

I had one and getting stuck in traffic on a sunny day on the 405 was brutal with no AC. I would come home sunburnt and sweaty daily. It was a lot of fun though but my wife was embarrassed of how it looked and wouldn’t step foot near it. It was fun in the canyons. My only complaint besides not being able to split traffic with it was getting stuck in traffic on a hot summer day with no roof or AC. You get extremely hot wearing a helmet.
