I really wish that they would change the UI to show the actual numbers without digging into the files so we can make more informed decisions on picking tires. I wasted a lot of money in my first few games picking the wrong tires for my trucks because all I had to go on was some generalized "Good" and "Excellent" ratings. I don't mind the looks of the tires though I wonder if I would have to edit them manually or the XML Editor can find and edit them?
For real, It's absolutely insane that they would do this rather than give actually usable numbers. Like, what does "good" or "excellent" really mean? and "poor" on freeway I've only noticed on maps like Alaska with its frozen roads "which btw basically go away after Alaska", and even then just slow down and you're kosher. I started a hard mode game a few days ago and before I buy anything I do so much research on yt and reddit because it could end up like what you said. It's not like I have absolutely no experience in Snowrunner, plus I have hundreds of hours in Mudrunner. This system has often meant my truck decides gets happy settling down and digs into terrain that should be easily traversable because their descriptions mean NOTHING. The community is the real MVPs here I swear.
Oh, with the AWD and now JAT tyres the TS will be unbeatable it seems! Now I just need to be careful with that highway gearbox because it can get you into trouble with all the speed...
The fact that the ANK can have dual rear mud tires with this pack is fantastic; I've tested it out, and they retain the great traction with the benefit of being far more stable than the balloon tires. Also, on trucks that would normally use the OHS tires for offroad, you now have wider options.
@@vladvulcan I actually haven't used the JAT OHS yet; there's a wide single mud tire in the JAT set that you can use in place of the vanilla OHS models. I can't remember the designation, but it's the last one in the list, the VI.
honestly, i got the mod eyes closed simply because of aspect variety. And now that I've seen the stats, I'm more than happy, small gains here and small losses there smells like balance to me. Thnx for that stats comparison mate! Love your content, even if I rarely do comment, we stalkers are here xD
good review Ben, nice to have you back! 😁 I was a couple days into Remoh's Smokey River region when these came out, so I tried a little "before & after" myself with the new tires. honestly, I've noticed little to no difference from the originals as far as grip, but can agree with you on the stability improvements for some vehicles. I like to spec my trucks for looks as well as performance, so it is great to have some more wheel & tire options especially for the scouts. have seen a few people say this should've been just added to the next season and not DLC, but for myself if $3 helps Saber improve the game even a little bit I feel that it's quite reasonable.
Thank you for this in-depth overview, Ben. You should be rewarded for enumerating all those tyre acronyms and truck denominations without breaking a sweat! Cheers! //Rick
Yes but mod tire packs have only applied to mods they have made not every truck. And it's nice to have options when playing a little to no mod playthrough
Yes the hardest thing about playing with friends is all agreeing on what mod to use this helps eliminate the need 4 some mods. I generally only use the trailer packs 4 added options with trailers.
For me, the biggest benefit to this pack, hands-down, was the availability of mud tires well before rank 14. To long time players this might not seem like much of a boon, but I struggle with the game at the best of times (oversteer and terrible reflexes packaged nicely in a thick fluffy bed of impatience) so the availability of mud tires early on saved my sanity and my keyboard. In case you're wondering, it did take me 3 months to type this out.
Love all the addition of new customization options, not so much the amount of scrolling that it has added to the garage UI. The single-file list of tires is getting to be as bad as the ever-growing pile of stickers now.
Also something to consider with the tire pack is that they become available way earlier for trucks than the standard tire sets. It takes FOREVER to earn AT/dirt tires if you start off in the USA, and this gives them to you fairly quickly. Also the wider tires and being softer is a tremendous bonus for someone intent on starting off with USA, where not having a true heavy truck (twinsteer doesnt really count imo) until the very end of the michigan stages makes mounting a rescue very difficult. Semi related, i feel the canon way to play is to start off in michigan and then move on to alaska, and then the other maps. Its challenging, sure, but going the other way around immediately throws offroad trucks with mud tires, and an actual 8x8 APC with the best mud stats in the game, at you and makes them feel way too easy.
I love that the new tires have renewed the theories of how snowrunner traction physics work. We know that every surface with mud has a hard surface underneath regardless of depth, and that dirt and mud tire stats are almost cut and dry with how and when they begin to function. Tire width and firmness matter too, and every truck varies due to collision being different on them all. The devs have done well to just let us learn on our own and not just tell us how the sausage is made. Its made for a helluva community.
While I haven't gotten the DLC myself, I have noticed a sizeable increase in track width in many trucks, to the point of looking rather silly (the White Western Star is a good example). From what I've heard, this is a bug, not an intentional design change.
I did dare the Scout 800 with Freeway gearbox, Roof Rack and JAT MS. It's on par with most other scouts now for stability and slightly faster than a Neo Falcon 2000 on Snowrunner gearbox.
I rarely comment, but I have to say I don't mind one bit having this pack be pay content. It's cheap and not OP, but helpful. You can definitely play the game just fine without it, but it's also worth the money.
Honestly the vanilla game needed this. Most of the vanilla heavy duty trucks like the almost complete Western star lineup can be as good as the off-road class with mud tires, but the regular game just didn't let you put them on
Its like 7 dollars for both packs. Thats amazing. How many other companies would try to gouge you for $10/20 a pop for these DLCs? I like these tires btw. Hopefully they dont nerf them at all.
@Quakez0r Oh, please. They aren't half as overpowered as any shit the modding community has made. And if people haven't beat most of the game by now, they never will.
I've got some doubts: did the loadstar got any new tire? Maybe mud tire? What are the stats of the new tatarin tires compared with the stock ones? I suppose the DAN and the 64131 share tires models, so what they got in one it got the other..... Is really worth it 0,1 point better for 3€, this looks like something saber should have been added for free in a new phase
I don't know your stance on mods but you REALLY should cover the real life mod, I was skeptical at first but after playing I realized it's a completely different (And FUN) game
It's a great mod, but I dislike the random tires he decided to put in. Makes everything OP and defeats the added realism. Also with unpacked cargo weight mod, the loading cranes become useless. I don't know if he managed a workaround.
It’s definitely a cool DLC that’s worth the few bucks. I’m guessing most of these tires got sent over from SR:Expeditions. A lot of them have the same “futuristic” look that the wheels had in the Expeditions trailer. Just a guess tho.
welp, that also happen to the neo falcon scout add in season 11, it has the same modern roof rack model in expeditions, they probably will port some if not all assets of expeditions to snowrunner in the future
Well, it's DLC, so the purchase is voluntary. It's not expensive, but it's nice that Scouts finally got decent tires. Only now you can confidently explore maps with them. For trucks, I really didn't like the big balloons in the mud tires, so I ran on off-road tires. Now I had the option of fitting normal mud tires, including twins on the rear axle. Beautiful thing. I'm a fan of MudRunner and SnowRunner, so I don't regret spending a few pennies on additional content in the game.
Would you consider making a how to video for the MOD section of the game, Ben? You know, walk us through the UI for each platform, and explain how to take advantage of the various menus and things and then maybe finish with your top five Maps, Trucks and Mods? I’d be interested..... just a random thought. Before I spent time messing around on the PS4 version; the MODS section was like black magic.maybe you could shed some light....
They really should have tied them to the same or higher rank. The fact you can get these while the less good normal tires are still locked is stupid balacing.
Does anyone actually look at the asphalt or ground rating for the tyres when deciding what to equip? If u gonna move a service trailer or a fuel trailer just on a main road then sure, but if u gonna have to drive through even a small puddle do anyone actually use other tyres then the best mud rated tyres?
I do. When the terrain is mostly solid, I'd prefer dirt rating over anything else. And in rare case when there's a lot of asphalt, I want at least 1.0 asphalt grip.
@@vladvulcan Yeah but there is also the problem that in 99% of the times when u try to do main missions or contracts there isent a decently solid path all the way. There may only be a path of 40-50m of mud or a creek u need to pass over or something simular that unless u have mud tyres on that small distance is gonna take longer and consume more fuel to get through then all the none mud distance combined. Thats assuming u even can get through it without staying close to winch points. I also find that there is barelly any difference betwinn your driving capability on dirt with mud tyres however for those short areas where there is mud there is a big difference betwinn mud and offroad tyres. I wished there was some way of looking at the map to atleast get a decently good ide of how muddy its gonna be and that way u could tell better if Offroad tyres could be a better option. Super heavy mud areas and water areas are easy to spot and know u likly gonna need mud tyres. But areas where offroad tyres may get through are a coinflip unless u already know exactly how the terrain is gonna be all the way. I suppose its gonna depend on how your game is setup and in my NG+ i have 2x dmg turned on and recovery completely turned off so if any truck get stuck or i unlock a new truck on the map i need to tow it back or drive it back if possable.
I guess tatarin's comparison goes the same way for the two zikz, as they have the same tires but in diffrerent size ? But i could use them at least for additional stability, or as i see its gonna be only for the Tatarin.
I understand the concern of pay to win. but like, in this game? What are we paying to win at? Is there like a snowrunner leaderboard with best times for map completion? The tire pack in my oppinion isn't really any more pay to win than a dlc truck is. The balancing for stats on these tires didn't really seem all that out of line with the rest either. The only thing egregious about this dlc is possibly the varied stances with the tires, but that is pretty much just a quality of life thing on tippy trucks
I think JAT is suitable for those who are new to the game and want to have some help making the game easier to play. It greatly reduces the time lost on bad roads.
@@ATribeCalledCarsI just started a week ago. Got the pack tonight. Unreal! It helps so much as a newbie. My old fleetstar can actually get through mud now.
This dlc is priced fair . Holy tits a non greedy fair company desicion . Thats rare guys . And lts something i can get begind to increase the games longevity . I recently had to rebuy this game on steam bc im done with epic . And together with this dlc its a refreshing way to replay the game :P
I always make these videos with a wide range of consumers on mind but ultimately SnowRunner is mega value if it hooks you. Even the worst DLC isn't so bad!
*WARNING* Anyone on Nintendo Switch in Japan or America will not be able to purchase the JAT Pack. Europe has the JAT Pack, America has the Kenworth, and Japan has neither. Also Ben, I pinged you in the Discord just so you’d mention this in the video.
K1500 is 10x the scout it once was with this tire addon yes I still run the old k1500 to this day along side the k30 mod and c70 since I never wanted to get rid of those
I don't really mind the idea of the tires in the pack being better rather than just cosmetic. Because you can't "pay to win" in a game that is non-competitive. And especially when compared to the vehicles you can get completely free by using mods. I use modded trucks almost exclusively and honestly a large part of that is just that I don't like the tires on the stock trucks. Sometimes I use stuff that is objectively better than the stock vehicles but the real goal for me is to find the Goldilocks zone where the difficulty is neither tedious nor boring. My standard go-to are various F750 mods because there's nothing more fun to me than sticking a 2 slot flatbed on the back of one and trying to do hauls designed for "real" trucks. 😁
Hey, you do realise there are some really cool wheels included as well? I was waiting for this kinda DLC forever. Even tho to be honest this and more should already be part of the game... oh well. At least the price is relatively reasonable.
@@ATribeCalledCars I might as well just leave it on my hard drive, this time. Streaming some music while playing snowrunner is a premium, cathartic experience that other games, with maybe the exception of farming simulator, fail to emulate.
Looking forward to the new Kenwood video. These tyres do look a worthy addition to a non-modders arsenal. Any chance of a "busted" or a "spoiler alert" in the next vid? Makes us chuckle a lot.
For each tyre category you will see different tyre choices. Depending on the truck and tyre type you will see names such as OHD or UHD. The name denotes the type while the number, if there is one, denotes the version. So the OHD II has different stats to the OHD I or OHD III.
I was always disappointed by the tire selection. It should be very simple. Limited by clearance but all every tire to go on any vehicle that it would fit. I manually made a mod list of all the tires in the game and paste it across all the trucks I use. Some still don't cooperate but the game does a good job sorting that out itself with a simple copy and paste.
Jack Tires What I Liked GMC BRIGADIER 8000 didn't get JACK TIRES. Tyre tread HMD II +UHD II front and rear different profile mud and off-road JAT MMD I+II+II Front and rear profile twisted JAT OMD I+II+III Rear double tyres Twisted profile
@@ATribeCalledCars Thanks, I had to uninstalled the DLC and restart my Xbox completely so it fixed it 🙂 Thank you very much for the reply. I must say? Those tires are pretty sick. Lol.
@@ATribeCalledCars you should play this trash on the series x so you can see what we’re dealing with. It’s absolutely pathetic at this point that the devs can’t fix ANYTHING, Not even “minor” issues as they call them, NOTHING.
@@ATribeCalledCars mine has been broken for 1 year and 6 months. Blurry textures, SDR, struggling FPS, video settings don’t read properly/save after starting the game. Now 2 play throughs crash/dashboard immediately upon loading in and I start to see the truck. Another one crashes/dashboards every 3-15 minutes. It’s really getting fucking old with how long it’s been with absolute ZERO fixes for the Xbox Series X platform while every other platform is getting fixed and better. Ours gets worse with EVERY update. It’s criminal at this point.
