I had the following problems. After the Z-align, both sides were not even. Switch off and level both Z-axis by hand. I wanted to set Z-offset but Z wasn't 0. Heat up first, then home the printer, then check if Z=0, then Z-offset. I wanted to level the 5x5 points but the printer only makes 5 points. Reason the sensor was too high in relation to the nozzle. Turn down the small screw at the top next to the nozzle and press down on the sensor. Then you can start over again. Then I probably still had fingerprints on the bed...

I hope you do produce your follow up on this printer. It does look a little too good to be true, so your more in-depth review will be valuable. Thanks!

As always an excellent review, thank you! But as an European I have to say something fot the comparison to the Prusa MK3 printers: 1. Yes, this printer has everything, a Prusa has for much less money. How can that be? Well, first of all I don‘t think, that Sovol runs a 24/7 support. That costs a lot of money. And Sovol doesn’t have to pay their laborers in European standards. When we buy lowcost Chinese printers or what ever, we shouldn’t complain about chinese standards, because we accept them. This is why I bought a Prusa, and because I didn’t have the money laying around, I bought a used MK3S. 2. Prusa developed their hardware under Open Source conditions. Sovol is allowed to use the development. It‘s fine, but maybe we all should at least credit this, and not only emphasize the big price gab. Don’t get me wrong, I understand everybody with low budget, to buy a chinese printer. But please calculate all factors of a product! To be honest, this concept of a printer is rather old now. And maybe I‘ll buy a chinese printer soon myself. The Bambu Lab P1P is innovative and in a price range, I can afford. And this is something I like to ask Joseph Prusa, why there‘s only an unaffordable XL and not an innovative Prusa MK4 for the „normal“ customers. Ok, I‘m looking forward your upcoming videos! Greetings from Germany or as Stefan always says: Guten Tag, everybody!

I agree with all of your comments. But for a hobbiest who prints a couple of times a month or even once a week the availability for low cost options is quite nice.
@JottyOL
@JottyOL Год назад
@@MakeWithTech I agree with that too. I just wanted to mention, that we are responsible for what’s happening in the world. But we are all not perfect. In my hometown, we have a makers-lab. For an inexpensive monthly fee you may use some printers, cutters and computers. A great way to share hardware and knowledge. Is there something similar in communities of the US?

I really appreciate what Prusa Research does for the community, but they have also greatly benefited from making their hardware open source. The 3D printing community exists in the size that it currently does, in large part due to Chinese companies being able to copy open designs and sell them for a low price. And by community I mean everything - number of users, number and size of 3D printing YT channels, the millions of downloadable models, the whole ecosystem. None of that would be possible if the only printers people could buy were $1k+.

I had to open this just to post this…. No, the SV05 is. I got it a few days back and after ironing out a couple glitches (not goin into that here, lol) I have to say, it’s the best 3d printer for beginners. The build was so simple, wiring terminated into plugs, put on the gantry, plug it all in! My second printer, first one with auto bed leveling! My god, why would anyone sell one without it these days! I’ve printed nearly a roll of PLA so far and? My prints are beyond beautiful and I’ve managed to push the speed on a certain part to the degree that I’m printing them at 1.5 hrs vs two and fifteen. Incredible printer!!! Review it!!!

This printer is good but, you need to upgrade a few things if you want a great printer, first change the power supply for a meanwell 350 power supply, change the part cooling fan for 5015 fan you have to print a new fan duct and mount for it, upgrade the firmware to TH3D Firmware it is much better and you prints will be far better and finally change the motherboard and bed probe to a TH3D Board and EZABL Probe this board use's a real stm chip not a clone like the stock one which does cause bad print's as well as other things and the bed probe is very inconsistence so change it for the TH3D EZABL Probe. So in fact this printer needs a lot of upgrades to be reliable its great for the person that like's and can do 3d printer upgrades because with all the upgrades it still a ton cheaper than a 3d printer that has it already done for you, its another ender 3 v2 style printer buy it and them upgrade the hell out of it i think its better than the creailty one's for the money.

A good video. The SV06 seems a good alternative to a mk3s (at least as a second printer, as it lacks MMU-support). It looks even more like the mk3s upgraded to a Prusa bear. There are some questions I have: - Is the distance between x-rods the same as on the mk3s? There are a lot very nice upgrade extruders for the mk3s, like the Bondtech BMG, the Zorbiter 2.0 etc. Also you can get a Revo hotend for thoose. While of course these upgrades might cost more than the printer itself, as the rest of the printer seems to be quite rigid, it might be worth it. Of course you need to make a cable adapter for other printheads. But would be nice to use them without further hardware modification. - As nowerdays Klipper is state of the art for a good reason: Have you tried Klipper with this printer? Actually using an old thin-client such an upgrade might be only cost about

They have an inductive sensor, all they had to do was add another driver and support g34, and you got proper z-stepper alignment. It's a lot more reliable and faster than forcing the gantry to the top

@kazolar Год назад
@@MakeWithTech it looks like they put in some thought into this machine, and Sovol has boards that can support an additional axis. They can charge another $10 per unit offer "true bed leveling" It will differentiate them from even what prusa can do.

@David A. Leedom voron does it with 4 independent z motors. If you have 2 independent z motors, you can get close at least use the probe to level out the x gantry. True leveling is adjusting the bed relative to the probe before doing a mesh

Love your youtube channel! I have a lot of experience 3D printing. I ordered the SV06 and SV06 Plus and eventually a second SV06 because they were direct drive extruders (like to use flexible materials) and they were what appeared to be Prusa MkIII clones with some improvements and a lot more affordable. It all looked good on paper but here is my real experience: 1. None of my 3 Sovol printers will actually print TPU. They all clog and quit printing part way through a print. No matter what temperatures I use they clog. This is unacceptable because these printers are specified to print TPU. 2. I have had layer to layer alignment issues all the time and there is no explanations as to why this suddenly occurs. Checked belt tensions etc. 3. Have had to replace 2 main boards due to an SD card holder that fails mechanically and wont eject the TF card any longer., Seems they are using a component that is poor quality. 4. Each of my 3 printers seem to go out of calibration often and the Z offset is suddenly wrong and it digs a big groove in my PEI build plate. Each time I do a full Z alignment, offset and bed level the nominal z offset changes. this is annoying and ruins a lot of build plates. In the end I have to recalibrate Z and bed level before every print. 5. When updating firmware it sometimes blue screens my printer rendering it unusable. Very difficult to bring the printer back and have to reload firmware multiple times to make it function. 5. The micro SD card slot is behind the upright and is super annoying to plug in and out. Also, connecting to this printer from a slicer or klipper never seems to work. The computer never sees the printer. 6. Long delays in getting support answers etc. Long delays in buying parts from Sovol because it seems they don't have U.S .distribution. In the end even if I have a factory file I send to the printer that is set up for i3 printers I get 1 good print out of 5 tries. I just don't think this printer is ready for prime time. I realize these reviews are initial impressions and they are very helpful but sorry to say this but this has been my longer term experience. I have worked hard to calibrate and make sure I limit variables that effect print quality and still I get a lot of garbage prints. Thanks, Nikko
@MakeWithTech
@MakeWithTech Год назад
This is a very useful comment for the viewers of this channel. First, you are correct. My reviews are initial impressions. Even when I have had a device for a long time, since I have so many different printers, I rarely push a device the way a dedicated user would. However, it is also important to position machines correctly. I see the Sovol SV06 as a good device for people new to the hobby that will use it to print PLA maybe a couple times a week. For these users, it is a better value than an Ender 3 V2 and easier to use.

Time to get a print? 18 hours for pencil holder, please... just as i suspected... they are still in the realm for 🤓 nerds.
