Is the Tamron 18-300 superzoom for Fujifilm any good?

I’m testing out the Tamron 18-300 Di III-A VC VXD lens, which has been on my Fujifilm X-E4 for the two weeks. It’s a good range, is weather resistant and has stabilisation.
I will talk about if a zoom is a good idea, and if this Tamron is worth getting. We will look at the good points and the things that could be different.

I have this lens for Sony APS-C and took it with me on a three-month trip to Europe last year. It was so handy to have such a versatile lens when travelling light, and apart from a couple of small primes that I used sporadically, it stayed on my camera almost the entire trip.

Hello Greg. It was good to see this video. I have this lens which I use on my Fujifilm X-S10 mainly when I'm at travelling. About 16-18000 images (some RAW/JPEG duplicates) taken in Qld/Sydney/SA/NZ/USA (did a 4 week Route 66 trip). When it's on the camera I get lazy and rarely change it out. Occasionally for my 10-24 zoom or Laowa 65mm macro. I get lazy I think. When I am at home I mainly photograph on my fitness walks and then a prime gets more use. I hit up my daughter for the TTartisan 25/f2 for Christmas and she got it for me.

Hi Greg, I’ve had the Tamron 18 -270 for many years on my D60 and then on my D200, it’s been a great workhorse of a lens. Never given any trouble. Great shots of lakes. Are the sea stacks at Kiama ? Cheers from the valley 🍷🇦🇺

I bought this lens some time ago but I haven't used it much since. It needs so much light with its variable aperture, it's almost useless in these dark months. The lens (or my copy) is not sharp, at least not as sharp as all the review made me believe it should be. The AF is very good though... I'm still loving my Sony 16-55 f2.8, is such a great allrounder. If you are looking for a walk around lens with a bit more reach, I think the Sony 18-105 f4 is the one. If you really need tele, buy the Sony 70-350 or better.

I can't answer for any Sony gear, as I use Fujifilm, and my Tamron is for the Fujis.
