The phrase “and the Word *was* God” is pretty clear, right? John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. So if you believe the New Testament, then it says right there that Jesus was the Word (John 1:14) and the Word “was God” (John 1:1). Jesus was the Word made flesh and the Word was God. Therefore it’s a simple deduction that one deduces that Jesus was God made flesh. Whether you believe that or not is your choice, but that’s what the Bible says. You can look it up for yourself; no one has to guess at things.

The Bible does not teach the trinity. The trinity originates from pagan religions. Jesus was dead for 3 days. He could not have been dead and be God. God cannot die. If he was God that would mean he really didn't die, which would mean there really was no sacrifice as death is required for sacrifice. So clearly Jesus was not God

As a baptist I’ve always been taught 3 parts of one God. Jesus is 100% GOD My whole life I’ve just accepted this understanding. But in the past few years after much prayer and scripture studies I can honestly say I really feel there’s one God and that is God the father. What really draws me to this conclusion is Jesus says he doesn’t know the day or hours so therefore he can’t be omniscient. Also Jesus prays to the Father. Thus giving me the impression that he’s praying to the 1 and only true GOD the father. The Bible also states a husband and wife are 1. Just like how it states the Father-Son-Holy spirit are 1. It doesn’t mean my wife and I are completely equal just like I don’t think God-Jesus-Holy spirit are completely equal. I think when they say we’re 1 it’s referring to being like spiritually 1. All I no Is Jesus Christ is my Lord and I put 100% trust and faith in him and one day I’m going to find out this heavenly truth whichever way it is. Or mabey after several more years of studying and prayer I’ll be enlightened to exactly what the 3 in 1 completely means.

The most important question about the truth of the Trinity is; Did Jesus teach it. Did Jesus explained it. Did Jesus debated it. The answer is empathetically and undisputelly NO! Actually the doctrine evolved over time to try to sort out huge splits that had occurred between those who said --- like many of the commenters here -- that only the Father is God and Jesus is subordinate; others who said that Jesus is supreme and the Father thrust into the background; and so on. You could look this up. I don't know of early segments of Christianity that may have asserted 'only the Spirit' but then i am limited in my learning. Some of the questions that they were seeking to resolve included: if Jesus is/was not divine then do His death and resurrection have power to save me/us? If Jesus is/was divine (and the Father is not) then can God change his mind, and if so how can one know in whom to trust? - Again these were the arguments that the councils were doing their best to resolve, not ones that first arose in response to the proposal of the Trinity.

Rick Davis LORD in our questionable Hebrew-to-English is always "Yahweh," or whatever the proper English transliteration of the Tetragrammaton (YHVH) turns out to be. I don't wish to be argumentative, friend. I was trinitarian until i was 50 years old. I knew it was true, because history and tradition for over a thousand years, and because virtually every mainstream "church" has taught it since forever, including Protestants. There are many comments on this video attesting to the fact that people today are unlearning the trinity, among other things. I'm content in what i've embraced, as i know you are. My comments are primarily for those who aren't as certain as you are, who may be questioning the centuries of church tradition. It's not a contest, you believe what seems right to you, and so do i. It's okay. I was frankly horrified and distraught when it came to me that trinity was human tradition, it was a painful transition, which was not made blithely, or on a whim. The content of the doctrine of the trinity is not derived from the Bible. A reading of the Bible dopes not raise the subject of the content of the trinity doctrine. The starting point is Trinitarian theology. One begins with Trinitarian theology and then reads the Bible through it's lens to find the content of the doctrine. If these Trinitarian pastors feel they are having difficulty in their flocks with this teaching it is only made worse by the dreadful arguments they make.

Did you ever wonder why the trinity doctrine is not presented in the scriptures the way it is taught today? You said yourself that the trinity doctrine is not given in the scriptures verbatim, and I would argue that there is a good reason for that. Simply put, there isn't one writer in scriptures that lays out the idea that God is three separate persons in one being. It would have been such a simple thing to say and yet not one person in the entire scriptures makes mention of it. Do you think that today's christian academia knows more about who God is in comparison to people like Moses, David, Isaiah, Ezekiel and many others like them? If God went to such extent in details when He was giving the law to the Hebrews, you would think that at least He would make mention to Moses that He (God) is actually three separate persons. In all five books of Moses you will not find anything eluding to that idea. Trinity doctrine is just an illogical conclusion of men with idolatrous mind. It has to be read in to the scriptures. You have to assume that God is "triune" first, then look for ambiguous verses and interpret them in a "suggestive" way. Matthew 28:19 does not teach that God is three separate persons. Just because it mentions three titles it does not say that those three titles are one God, you have to assume that in to the text. I find it interesting that you didn't use 1st John 5:7 as the trinity proof but instead chose Matt. 28:19. Maybe it is because you know that 1st John 5:7 is a much later addition. It is not found in the Greek manuscripts until about 15th century and there is good evidence to prove that. Matthew 28:19 on the other hand can not be shown as forgery by the copies of manuscripts but it can be shown as forgery by what other writers have documented about the deeds of the apostles. If Jesus really gave that commandment (which today's academia teaches) than his disciples and followers directly disobeyed him and did otherwise. There is a dozen verses in the new testament saying that they baptized in the name of Jesus and not in the name of "Father, son and spirit" Matthew 28:19 does not make sense in its own context. It says in the name of the Father, son and spirit, so what name would that be? In the context of this verse Jesus can't be that name because it only applies to the son and if anyone baptized only in the name of Jesus then they would exclude everyone else. I think its obvious that Jesus would have actually said "baptize in my name" because that is precisely what his followers did. My guess that is how it would have been recorded by the original writer of Matthew but since we don't have an original or anything near to it we can argue this topic all day.
I would add that there is not a single person worshiping a triune God anywhere in the Bible. There were none before, and there were not after Jesus' ministry on earth. The trinity is a terrible and damaging lie.

That is about how I see it. The triunity of God as defined in the trinity doctrine evolved over a long time. First the divinity of Jesus, divinity is defined in the trinity doctrine, developed over several centuries. Then over a long time span after that, personhood for the Holy Spirit was added to complete The doctrine of the trinity is a product of a great deal of arduous intellectual and semantic activity over many generations to get to what it is today.

What connects the Son to the Father or what connects Believers to the Son and Father..? In my humble opinion it is the spirit /essence of the Father that is transmitted to the Son who, in turn, transmits it to those Believers who are His! A cycle so to speak from Father to Son to Us-wards..a connecting cycle! ♡

They only differ in position because God the Father is first in position then God the son Jesus is second in position then God the holy spirit is 3rd in position but all share the same divine nature. For example, take this analogy in comparison: You have the President, Vice President, and the Congress. All have different roles but share the same human nature. They are equal in this sense.
If people read their Bible, Jesus clearly makes a distinction between Him and the Father-Jesus clearly states in John 14:28 that the Father is greater than He is and in John 20:17 Jesus states that He will be ascending to the Father-My point is, if Jesus is God, why would He be ascending to Himself-?
He was ascending to the Father. He was the Son. Think of it this way….if your last name is Smith, and your spouse’s last name is Smith, and your childrens’ last names are Smith, you are one. You are individuals, but one family. No one has to tell you that you’re a family, it’s implied and understood. This illustrates exactly what God is. The Bible doesn’t come right out and say that God is a family, but Scripture supports the concept. This is why God can be the Father and the Son, and still be one. The Father is creating a family. Jesus was firstborn into the family, and we will be born into the family in the next life, if we’re follow His commandments.

Why is it that unitary monotheism agrees with singular personal pronouns like "he" and "him" and "I," and is non- contradictory, and is fully consistent with both the old and new testament, while Trinitarianism requires redefining words, contradictory thoughts like "he is they" and "three is one," and requires its acolytes to think that their five gods who are one lied to the Hebrews and they didn't really know him, until the new testament came out and then the gnostic Trinitarians figured it all out because they are good with piecing together contradictory puzzles?
The concept of the Trinity was never taught by the Apostles. Why? Because the doctrine was formulated hundreds of years later by Greek educated gentile Christians who did not have any understanding of Judaism and its theological foundation. When someone is asking if the Trinity is in the Bible they are really asking is, "Is it possible that the trinitarian Christian is overlaying a later pagan concept over the divinely inspired text"? This would be a valid question and the answer is unquestionably yes. As Sola Scriptura Christians our goal in determining the nature of Christ should be to adopt the Jewish midrashic interpretation traditions of the time of the Apostles in order to assess THEIR understanding of Christ and His nature. Their traditional approach to interpretation was that scripture interprets scripture. They had little difficulty identifying Jesus with the One God of Israel. Richard Bauckham did a wonderful job of explaining this in his book " Jesus and the God of Israel" I highly recommend it.
It doesn't have to complication however. In fact, it couldn't be simpler when we think about it; 1. There is not one single declaration, revelation or decree of a triune god anywhere in all of Bible history. 2. There is not one single record of anyone worshiping, teaching or preaching of such a god in all of Bible history 3. There is not a single record of Jesus, teaching, worshiping or teaching of such a god at any point in His ministry Therefore and with that being said, to anyone with a common sense and the ability to reason, the evidence is so abundantly clear it is just painful to consider. And yet, there are millions of would be Christians today who would not think twice about telling someone to stop following in Jesus' footsteps by worshiping, teaching and preaching as Jesus did on earth, in-favor of a god that is completely unlike the GOD of Jesus Christ! - seriously, we could not make this stuff-up if we tried, and yet that it precisely the state of the modern day Christianity as it were
Its baffling to see that such a central belief requires interpretation. Jesus must say in the bible at least hundred times that I am God and you all should worship me. On the contrary he is constantly calling himself son of man.

A human man has 48 chromosomes, 24 from his x mother and 24 from his y father. But Jesus had half of only 25 chromosomes, 24 x were from his mortal mother mary and the remnant 1 was from the y chromosome from God his father. That tells you he was fully man and fully God. The 1 y chromosome God miraculously placed in Mary for his male side is what gives Jesus his divine identity. He had divine powers, he stopped the storm while they were in the boat. He walked on water. He performed miracles, he healed the sick, he made the blind see again. He forgave sins. Only God can forgive sins so Jesus is God. Lastly, he took all the sins of the world upon himself, can s human do that? Only God can but he died also because of his half human nature side. He prayed to his father because he was in the flesh. He removed himself from the trinity as God the son to the human Jesus of Nazareth and also still having his divine identity. He needed to lower his position in order to manifest in to flesh. You can use this logic in comparison. You have the president, vice president and the congress. They all have different roles in the administration but share the same human nature and are equal in this sense.

Jesus is God only in the way that I am another Christian, yet as I am not the same person as another Christian, Jesus Christ is not the same person as God the Father, nor do I and other Christians contribute to a greater hive mind, and neither do Jesus, God, and the Holy spirit contribute to a trinity.
With Trinitarian glasses we Christians could just as well become "God" because we can become ONE with God just like Jesus. Would be a logical conclusion if you belive in the doctrine of the Trinity.

The reason the Trinity debate never occurred during the time of Jesus (Peace be upon him) is that neither the Jews nor Jesus and his disciples (who were also Jews) ever even talked about Trinity. They all knew that God is One and only One. The Trinity was not even a concept among the children of Isreal. Jesus and his disciples always preached that God is One. It is when Christianity came out of Israel when this concept of Trinity took its hold. A lot of arguments and fights went over this concept and finally in 381 CE it was formally established. Ask yourself why, because some of the church fathers in the 3rd and 4th century were coming up with this idea. It went through Suboridinism, Modalism and Finally Trinity.
There is not much difference between a very basic acceptance of Father, Son, and HS being ONE GOD during the Apostolic era, and a formal explanation of the Trinity which occurred later. It is clear from the NT that the early church saw all three personifications as ONE GOD.

What's a mystery to me is not understanding the trinity. What's a mystery to me is how so many people are worshiping something that isn't in the Bible, wasn't practiced by Jesus or the apostles, and hadn't even been mentioned until 400 ad. In fact if you believe but there is one God, his son was human and was the Messiah, and the holy Ghost is God's spirit inside you seems like it makes perfect sense. The bible says Jesus is our God, Savior, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and that Jesus is the first and the last. All of these are also titles of Yahweh. No other person in the bible shares all of these titles. There are more as well, but that would just show again and again that Jesus is Yahweh. Jesus is God distinct from the Father God.

No, it's not. The Trinty concept is nowhere explicitly (fully and clearly) stated in the Bible. The Trinity concept comes from unwarranted deductions. Your 8 examples are clear. The Trinity is nowhere as clearly stated. Saying in the name of the Father, the Son and the HS does not make all of them gods nor makes them equal nor makes them all eternal. Those deductions are unwarranted.

Is not love described as a fire? A fire that burns in our hearts and consumes us? The Father and the Son are consumed eternally in their love for each other. The HOLY SPIRIT is The SPIRIT of CHRIST JESUS (Romans 8:9). If anyone believe The Lord JESUS CHRIST fulfilled Isaiah 9:6 saying Son is called "Father" then there is no really problem about The Lord JESUS CHRIST being the only GOD who said: "But I have been the LORD your God ever since you came out of Egypt. What most don’t realize is there is a really big, deep, dark and sinister problem with anyone who calls himself a Christian (follower of Christ) and believes in the doctrine of the trinity. Trinitarians say Jesus is “co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit.” What many don’t know is that anyone who makes this claim or believes this teaching created by man is outright calling Christ and the Scriptures a liar. Why on earth would anyone want do something like that? Christ tells us himself that scripture cannot be broken (John 10:35). God's word reveals that the Father and the Son are in fact NOT equal. In the gospel of John, Jesus states unambiguously, "MY Father IS GREATER than I." (John 14:28 KJV) “Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to MY GOD and your GOD.’” (John 20:17) “The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of MY GOD. I will write on them the name of MY GOD and the name of the city of MY GOD, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from MY GOD; and I will also write on them my new name.” (Rev 12:3) Did you catch that? Christ has a God, his Father! Simple logic shows that a son is not greater than his father. Christ also said, “Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.” (John 13:16 NIV) Christ was sent by the Father (John 12:49 GNT). It is also written: “All that my Father has is mine; that is why I said that the Spirit will take what I GIVE HIM and tell it to you.” (John 16:15 GNT) The Spirit belongs to the Father and Son. The Holy Spirit was sent by Christ (John 7:39 GNT) So if anyone truly believes in what Christ said then, Christ is not greater than God as the Father sent him and the Spirit is not greater than Christ as he sent him. The foolishness of the “trinity” is disproved by the very words of Christ! Who is the author and finisher of faith? The word of Christ or the inventions of men? Seriously, how hard can this be? The very description of the holy angels is found in Hebrews 1:14 GNT). There is your “helper”. Angels are not to be worshiped (Rev. 19:10, 22:8-9). Christ himself tells us who the Godhead is in John 17:3 (2 not 3). If Christ is truly the author and finisher of our faith, why wouldn’t anyone believe what he actually said? In John 10:30 and 17:3, Christ's very words clearly disproves the false, pagan man-made doctrine of the trinity. Paul calls this teaching belonging to a different Jesus, gospel and spirit (2 Cor. 11:4) The question for all who read this is: Do you believe in what the Christ of the Bible said or not? The trinity is just a CONVENTIONAL doctrine based on some statements in the gospels. The bishops of Nicaea had to decide whether Jesus was God or just his Son. Jesus said "he who has seen me has seen the Father" "I am in the Father and the Father in me" and claimed to be the "King of heaven". The bishops thus decided that "Jesus must be as divine as the Father". But Jesus further said that a blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is more serious that blasphemy against Himself. The bishops thought "no doubt, the Holy Spirit must also be a divine person". You thus get three "Gods". Since three "Gods" are not allowed because it would mean having polytheism, the bishops said "they appear to be three but actually they are ONE, we call it "mystery of the faith", for the common herd is more than enough". This is how that bogus theory was issued by the councils. The error in all that is the bishops didn't realize that the "Spirit of God" (the Holy Spirit) simply is "God who is a spirit" (Jn.4:24) i.e. once again a manifestation of the same God, not a third divine person. Indeed you can see in the gospels that no third divine person exists with Father and Son: the Holy Spirit is again the Father.

Does the Bible actually spell out clearly for us the identity of this spirit, in other words are we saying that this Spirit is Christ himself; who comes with the Spirit of the Father. The Bible tells us this very plainly in 2 Corinthians 3:17 which your shared earlier, it says, “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. The reason why the Bible emphasizes that Christ is that Spirit is because Christ came and he was tempted like us and he overcame in order to give us this liberty. The emphasis on Christ is because he is the one who overcame for us and he gives us this Spirit, his very own life. If you have anyone else other than Christ you don't have Liberty. This is how the Father and the Son are one, Jesus says “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30). The Bible also tells us “ But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17). So when we are joined to the Lord we become one spirit with Him. Jesus is saying that the same union me and my Father share, he wants to share with us; in other words he and the Father are one in spirit or one spirit. Now don't ask me to explain the how of that or the nature of that, but we know the identity of the Spirit. I hope you can come to the conclusion that there is one Holy Spirit of God and Christ. When Jesus said "I and the Father are one" he meant >one in purpose< >one in plan< . He was not saying they are the same person. The idea of the trinity was unknown until the fourth century. No Jew ever believed God is a trinity and Jews wrote the old testament and much of the new. The idea of the trinity came from the Catholic church around the time of the Council of Nicea in 325AD.

In the Hebrew we find "YHVH" not "the Lord". Translators have substituted out God's proper name "YHVH" from the original text which can make things quite confusing. Quite simply, to settle the assertion of God being a "Trinity" (3 Gods) or "Triune" (3 Gods ) is by a word study. Deu.6:4 states, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is *one* LORD." In the Original, the word "’eḥāḏ" translated "one" is found in Gen..2:21, "and he took ’eḥāḏ/one of his ribs." God did not take 3 of Adam's ribs to make woman, He took out ’eḥāḏ/ one rib. God didn't make 3 Eve's, He made ’eḥāḏ/ one Eve. Furthermore, Adam, seeing the ’eḥāḏ/ one Eve exclaimed "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh..." correctly rendered in English as "bone" singular, not plural "bones of my bones" because Gen.2:21 is singular. Deuteronomy 13:1 & Deuteronomy chapter 4 proves that the concept of the trinity is evil inspired. Isaiah 27 proves that the trinity Leviathan is on its way out.
The Trinity is a pagan teaching that was adopted by the Church 300 years after the death of our Savior - by the same church that in it's infancy excommunicated the apostles of Christ. It's a false doctrine. The spirit testifies of truth. Christ is the Son of God the Father, and the Holy Ghost bears witness. They are three separate beings - one in purpose. The doctrine of the Trinity was added in the 16th Century. The trinity was created in the 4th Century at the council of Nicaea, this is a historical fact, Jesus never said anything about the Trinity.

The Bible does not speak of a trinity, there is a clear and obvious difference between trinity, the existence of three beings, the Father, the son and the holy spirit, and Trinity, the Father, the son and the holy spirit being God, yet the Father not being the son, nor the son being the spirit, nor the spirit being the Father. The word אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim) is interchangeable with Greek form θεὸς (=theos), also standing for the title of God. At Hebrews 1/8 Paul cites Psalm 45/6: 'Your seat of government, oh God, remains throughout the duration of the Eon.' That Psalm has אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim). Hebrews 1/8 has θεὸς (=theos), a singular form. The two words, therefore, have the same meaning. However - and you could hardly have dreamed it up - there is contention over it. Some polytheists like to say that אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim) is really a plural word and therefore indicates a plurality in the Godhead. Think of the English words 'innings': it is not always plural. It's just the same with אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim). As with 'innings', so also with אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim). And as with אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim), so also with שָׁמַיִם (=shamayim). And as with שָׁמַיִם (=shamayim), so also with innings. The word אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim) can be used in the singular, plural, and metaphorically. The fact that אֱלֹהִ֑ים ends in a plural suffix ים (=im) does not mean that it is a plural word, just as our ending 's' does not mean that 'innings' is always plural. The writers of the post-Babylonian system, though, want it as a plural form because that would back up their idolatrous polytheism, worshipping 'the man Christ Jesus' as one of its gods (and worshipping the Angel of God as another of its gods). In order to distinguish the one true God from the plurality of the Canaanites' gods, the prophet Moses said, 'Hear, Israel: Yahweh our Elohim is one Yahweh' (Deuteronomy 6/4). This was cited by Jesus the Messiah at Mark 12/32. God also said through His prophets that 'there is no one else beside Him' - see Deuteronomy 4/35, 4/39, Isaiah 40/3, 43/10-11, 44/6-8, 45/6, 45/18, 45/22, Zechariah 14/9 et cetera. Jesus, Paul and James stated that 'God is one' at Mark 10/18, Romans 3/30, 1 Corinthians 8/4-6, Galatians 3/20, Ephesians 4/5-6, 1 Timothy 1/17, 2/5, James 2/19, 1 John 5/7, Jude 25, and Revelation 4/2. אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim) has a variety of meanings, but the most common is its singular form, as at Genesis 1/1: 'In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the Earth.' Gesenius's Hebrew lexicon says, אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim) is, among its meanings, 'in a singular sense, of one god ... of any divinity'. In Bullinger's Book of Job (see also his book The Divine Names andTitles), he gave the following definition of Elohim: 'ELOHIM is God, as the Creator, carrying out His will; God, standing in the relation of Creator to His creatures.' At Exodus 7/1 אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim) is used for 'judge', singular (KJV has, wrongly, 'god', but another version explains, satisfactorily, 'in the role of God'). At Exodus 21/6, 21/22, 22/8-9, 22/28, and at Psalm 82/1 and 82/6, אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim) is in the plural, 'judges'. It is used in a negative sense for an idol or false 'god' (Exodus 12/12, 20/3, 20/23, 22/20, 23/13, 23/24, 23/32-33, et cetera). It is also in the plural form for false 'gods', (Exodus 18/11, 32/1, et cetera). It is used for 'angels' (Psalm 8/5, 97/7, 97/9) - wrongly disputed by some as 'gods', wrongly since Hebrews 1/6, 2/7, and 2/9 confirm it as 'angels'. And אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim) is used metaphorically as 'mighty thunderings' at Exodus 9/28. One thing אֱלֹהִ֑ים (=elohim) most certainly does not mean is that the Creator 'Elohim' is a plurality of gods. The name 'Elohim' is interchangeable with 'Yahweh' and jointly with 'Yahweh Elohim', so that torpedoes any sense of God being a plurality. Any other 'gods' are idols. And 'Elohim' is just one of over 100 names and titles of the one true God.
Someone forgot to tell Moses and the Prophets. They didn't believe in a Trinity. Jews didn't believe in a Trinity then and don't believe in a Trinity today. But what would they know? The OT was just THEIR collection of books.
This is helpful for The Doctrine of The Holy Trinity according to Jesus The Christ in *Mathew **28:18**-20* and the Holy Bible in 1 John 5:4-8, Genesis 1:26. The 3 individual persons in the Trinity makes sense and the closest we can in human experience is in Marriage. How shall the two become one? In Purpose. I don't agree with the assertion that God Yahweh is Jesus himself. This would make Bible a peck of lies where God Yahweh and Jesus himself unequivocally maintained that they are Father and Son - two separate persons. To deny this is not only denying the most important revelation that God Yahweh had sent his only begotten son to save the world but alleging that they both lied 43 times in the Bible! And by doing so whoever denied them as Father and Son is condemned already! John 3:18 ESV / 11 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
