Pro tip - if you are camping at ops 39 for a while, save your Disco refinery turn ins and you'll be able to pull those big speedup pulls every single day for quite a while, because you'll keep amassing them every week. Huge benefit when you unlock a bunch more research at 40.
Although I agree, I still use it every week in g5 without the prime. It brings my ship from lower g5 fed to kling in seconds, very useful doing epics all over the place sometimes.
Great value in the video Rev. Just made the jump from 49 to 52. I agree that while the Voyager can get further, using Disco with prime can get my 46 rares to bigger armadas.
Disco gives 96 days of speed ups is great. I jump to a swarm system, summon Franklin A for Sunday swarm event (Threat From Beyond), then jump and summon a miner or combat ship as wanted, then jump home and the event is done. Takes two minutes and can save 8-10 depending on base location and Franklin A warp speed.
Summoning is insanely useful! Need to make it to that Armada in time? Summon! Need to go hit 2 targets for PvP in different systems? Hit 1, Summon, Hit 2. Fast and easy. It has a very specific use, but it does it really well. TLDR Get the Discovery.
I have two maxed out Discovery's and currently have two levels of the Prime Discovery Warp Range. I really like it for "summoning" quickly between one ship way in deep space while the other is at home. Helps for Mining Monday, for sure, moving a Feesha back and forth quickly.
Where is the disco 2.0 refinery? I need more speedups!!!! It needs updating imho….and I tell my alliance this all the time (ops 55 player). I can’t compete in spend events by doing research so I am forced to work on ships and buildings. Just not enough lat or speedups for me. Thanks for the video rev!
I think the difference between it now and before is that I would not camp for disco at any point. Sure, keep working on it (both Galaxy Cleanup and the Anomaly stuff are quick enough to do that it shouldn't be a problem). But I wouldn't sacrifice any other aspect of progress to wait for it. When it comes, yay nice.
Amazingly useful to me. Mine is maxed 🙂 I'm 43, so use the disco to get my miners to 4* areas quickly, then recall them to base if necessary 🙂 Appreciate the crew as that will reduce my consumption. Keep em coming mate 🙂
I still can't believe that they put the extra warp range for the Disco behind a paywall. And it's not a regular paywall it's a 5×'s paywall.. on top of that the ship is useless with warp range and warp speed research as well as super highways.
Ops 47 player here. I still use the Disco on a routine basis. The G3 miners are my main mining ships until I can get a Nova and only have one of the G4 miners. I am at the point where my Disco can get my all the way up to those first few systems in G5 space, which is great when I want to quickly relocate my base to do some rep grind as I get to the second faction lock for each of the FKR factions. The best thing with the Disco is the daily speedups that you get after ops 40 and those help out a lot for F2P players and even light spenders. The biggest thing I will use Disco for at this point is getting a ship to an alliance armada in time if we are in a crunch or hopping to systems I know with Epic DS armadas to scout for the next armada to run.
the grind to level this ship up is stupid lol. i refuse to spend money on it, and I was first person on server to have it... f2p leveling its still not maxed and i'm ops 50 hahaha. they need to add more parts.
Value... well, it certainly helps getting to deep space armadas, sometimes I'll warp out just so I can target them and forget it. Worst part about DS armadas - Starting Player: Come join my armada at this location in space. Joining Player: "Hmm, I cant follow the GPS, so I'll get to the area and then maybe I'll look around for your armada." Cmon, they sent GPS coordinates, I should be able to send and join with those coordinates. At this point, what's the fog of war really protecting. Eliminate the fog for all
In multiple recent videos, Rev has said that 3 star uncommon are not really the struggle they used to be. What am I missing because the 3 Star uncommon are very difficult for me to procure enough of them?
Depends on your ops level, closer you are to 40 the more 3* mats you will get because of scaling on the battlepass and other events. Besides spending money there are many game mechanics that unlock as you level. The first thing to note is that higher levels means more access to research efficiencies. Having those efficiencies will effectively make you have more 3* mats available. When you get voyager you will get field training unique to it that will give you Prime Dolamide Particles. You can use those particles to buy a couples levels in Prime efficient Ship engineering in the station research tree. Section 31 store can also give you Prime Dolamide Particles but you need an alliance that will let you leach as its too difficult until you get an epic 35 ship or other high level specialty ship. The 2nd mechanic that people tend to forget or get lazy about because there is so many grinds to do is scrapping tier 2 ships to get 3* mats, it gets easier to do as you get better mining officers/tier 9horizon/research efficiencies. Spend latinum on buying tier 2 parts and autogrind to level. The next mechanic is the stella and the Apex Thursday event that allows you to chose to buy either 3* mats or research medals, eventually you wont need research medals and you can just buy the mats. The stella scrapping loop can also buy mats but I feel that loop is going to be dependent on how much your alliance runs exchanges. More active alliances will allow you to double/triple pull uranium more often. At some point you can start scrapping the stella to get more 3* instead of outlaw research. The 4th is the Bajoran Store. After some time doing that solo armada loop you will be able to spend bajoran credits and diplomacy tokens to get more 3* materials. One favor will give building efficiency and another gives stella efficiency. Lastly before 40 you could also scrap 2 out of the 3 uncommon level 26 faction ships to get 4* materials to buy the Prime ore/gas/crystal refining which gives an extra roll on your refinery and Prime Stella Efficiency. You want to do this before 40 but not too early that in gets in the way of upgrading your 28 factionship. I did it at ops 35 to win a SLB.
It’s very relative. These days 3* uncommon is a lot harder to get than 3* rare, at least in the quantities you need it, but it is MUCH easier than it used to be. Rev (and many other CC’s) often make statements like this because the game economy in 3* today is almost unrecognizable from what it was when Rev was a 3* player. Yes, 3* uncommon is still your primary limiting material in 3* land, however you no longer have to walk through the snow, uphill and both ways to get it 🤣
If you are fairly hardcore free to play you can expect to take about 1 3/4 - 2 years to get it to max tier with it's research, if you don't grab extra material from the mega events, I feel that is important to note. I'm on server 87 and just finished mine at ops 45.
lvl 61 here. with the primes for it, the disco makes life easier getting to & from the 61 & up systems a breeze. without it warps are at minimum 10mins.
It is a very useful ship. You really should have demonstrated the ability. The graphics if you are zoomed in on the ship and you summon/slash jump the disco home is pretty cool as well. Same effect as in the show.
If you do nothing but do the sunday quest with it its worth having just for the crew shards, speed ups, and eventually transporter patterns. Also commendations are useful in faction stores
Actually the cloak comes in handy at takeovers. Cloaked Disco in the system and your ships get back in seconds. Just have to do more cloaking research yet. Because she ain't a fighter. Thanks for the video btw. I wish I had it about 6 months ago because I stopped upgrading the ship a T4 to invest everything into research which I no know was stupid. Ah and I didn't know I could summon ships further than their warp range. That's really neat.
ops43 and its really useful for me. only downside, once you max the ship, you still gain spore drive components in the pulls. pointless keeping that in the pulls when maxed, unless the disco will get a update to tier 12, where we can use all this components we hording now.
One of the biggest injustices done by scopley. The discovery in the series was a massive factor in the war and a fantastic ship... and then scopley got hold of it
In reference to the grind aspect of the discovery. I think the discovery was my second cosmic cleanup ship unlocked and at ops 42 I still have not maxed the ship even doing anomalous phenomenon every week. I am also an extremely light spender, but not pure f2p. Just unlocked tier 8 on the ship, the summoning research slowed down the ship progression quite a bit as i had to hoard disco parts for a few months.
I'm 46 pushing 47 and I still think its a useful ship; though you do need the summoning research asap. Great when you don't have the 4* miners (because you have better things to spend faction credits) on and the speedups are useful when its maxed.
I started STFC around May 2023 and have NEVER recruited a Discovery chest. Why? Because the Section 31 skin increases your shard pull by 50% as well as adding Lorca to the pool. As RD stated, it is a long grind as well as the officer collection. So the skin isn’t a meh in my book. It’s necessary to catch up to those who’ve been around STFC for years. So I’m still waiting for the disco skin to be released!!!
I'm ops 37 and I only use the discovery to summon a ship to an armada and to bypass the Mantis ability that prevents a ship from warping. A ship debuffed by the Mantis can still be summoned by the discovery.
Still use it if in a rush to get to an armada or if running late to recall my ship from DS for territory defence. The skin is worth it for Lorca (given he is part of the PVP META with Carol Freeman and HG Worf), however not essential per se and still not easy to actually source that skin presently.
Before I go past 47s into this video. The disco is 100% useful at any level it's summon ability alone is such a utility that I always have it at the ready if I need to bring a ship back for any reason. Or attack.
I am level 55. I used to use every day in the high 40's and low 50's to get miners into 5* space. Now, I rarely use it. Between the superhighway and the limited warp range and 5* ships, it is rarely utilized. The fessha has a much greater warp range and makes a better scout. If the warp range was not locked behind a paywall, it would be used a lot more, but the paywall is not worth it. In fact, because so much is now being locked behind paywalls, and not offered during event stores, i have drastically cut my spending (~80%). You csn definitely tell who the spenders are and who are ftp (mostly) in the mid 50's+.
I am at level 56 and just purchased the Voyager Warp boost research. It's the only ship that can get my baby Sanktus and mid level Corvus to the 60 Armadas. To me it was worth the money to to these Armadas for the loot.... but thats just me.
I was playing during the Disco arc, so the rewards from that arc made maxing it not seem difficult at all. That said, for newer players without that advantage it is a real grind. Scopely should consider efficiency research for both the Spore Drive components and D’Vor parts to allow new players to catch up on both of those relatively important pieces of content easier. I can’t imagine sales of either of those are significant these days, at least compared with the number of people who simply give up on the ship.
Id like to see a video like this on the Realta, i cant get my Realta warp above 6, and ive seen others higher than that. So, i have to ironically use the disco to move the Realta from non territory space to territory, to support allies during TC territory challenges.
Also, ues this tactic, do all Sunday disco for a month with out spending the refinery, then start the next month using them and do the Sunday even, speed ups every day, it's great From Vladistean server 72
You mentioned the section 31 refit but I have not seen it for sale in YEARS. How do we get it? It was in a couple of event stores way back when and at this point I've even caved in and said I'll pay for the dang thing, but it's never in the store. What gives?! @rev please can you get scopely to put it in the pay store 😂
Currently Lorca is one of my most used officers, the skin would be very useful for me. Unfortunately it's impossible to get the skin these days... Haven't spend those recruit tokens in months maybe over a year depends on when the last time they ran an event for spending them last. Also my disco needs more warp range... And no I'm not giving $copely money for it
(F2p)ops 50 got 2 and use both every day definitely needs a overhaul especially the mining nodes gotta be what nearly 4 yrs and they haven’t increased the mycelium nodes shame🔔 scopley,change the chest pulls I.e 6 chests to 7 days worth rather than 4 days with an extra chest every 24 weeks cuz that’s annoying Definitely needs a f2p route for the new prime add it in the chest pulls but not that it takes 2+ yrs to get
SDCs are surely the major buttleneck for the Disco, butt I have to say that uncommons are STILL a big buttleneck for all other ships unless you have a flow going in the Bajoran faction store already (and that's not before Ops 35).
The worse u can do is to max out discovery… it’s taking longer than getting it to t4 and getting summoning then maxing it out. Do not waste your time maxing disco till u don’t have a summoning!!!
Be warned, maxing your disco doesn't guarantee the speed ups. I maxed mine over a year and a half ago but my refinery is stuck at tier 8. I put in a ticket and Scopely said it's a known issue and closed my ticket. Still waiting for a fix...
Depends on the ship. Some cloaks are in the faction stores, some cloaks are in the almaglam loop. Truly they have done a poor job of making most things easy to find
The Disco sucks unless you're going to put money into it. I've been working on this damn thing for a year and its still not at tier 7. I currently have a 71 range. My miner has a 70 range, 75 with cadet scotty. My Augur has 75 range. I do the event every week and I even get the battle debris from cosmic cleanup in the hopes I get some Disco parts but its about the slowest grind there is. Also I think it's totally BS that you have to buy prime's to make the thing have a greater range than your regular ships. What's the point of it otherwise? the handful of nearly useless officers? I don't have the section 31 refit, which I was disappointed wasn't in the section 31 store, so I can't even get Lorca with it.
It makes the Mantis sting ability useless to keep a pvp hostile in the sector.... Can't warp out...no problem...disco out. I think the Mantis should override it...but then there'd be that group that screams "OP!"... Sorta like when whales got swarmed by the ol' realta burn crews.
