Please define unfamiliar terms ie “ meat analogs”
@MagnumCarta
@MagnumCarta Год назад
An "analogue" means a supplement or replacement. In this context, a "meat analogue" means something that supplements the nutrients that meat would otherwise provide for your body. For example, if you only ate apples, you wouldn't get an adequate level of iron for your blood. You would either need to take an iron supplement or eat something that replaces meat for iron intake. Beans would be a good example of this particular example.

That is antidotal.. people for years used that same logic to say that smoking is not bad for you and don't relate to cancer at all. The fact is most of us don't know enough people to have a good statistics on anything anything to do with behavior health wellness we just don't that's why we rely on larger statistics. Most of our nutrition studies are on short-term how comes. So we have to settle for the next best and that is looking at different societies and how they eat unfortunately we don't have a lot of societies that eat vegan vegetarian or whole food. We don't have societies that do keto or paleo diets as much as some people like to think that Paleolithic people did that's not true or there's no evidence for it except for in a couple parts of the world and those people died in their thirties if they were lucky to live to their thirties and in Loma Linda thankfully out of all the blue zones this one has the best opportunity for research if you want to know the benefits or risks in the same society on the variations between eating some meat eating no meat or animal products..

@@jamiepitcher2055 It's anecdotal and the connection between smoking and cancer is a proven fact. The belief that the vegan diet is best for everyone from birth to death is NOT a medical fact. There are many people now who are former "recovering" vegans similar to how many former "recovering" fundamentalist christians who say getting out of the cult was the best thing they ever did and their only regret is that they didn't do it sooner.

I have heard we need cholesterol to make hormones.
@MagnumCarta
@MagnumCarta Год назад
We do. But your body can also produce cholesterol. There are some nutrients we can't produce (called essential nutrients) but cholesterol is not one for the vast majority of people. If you are concerned your cholesterol levels are below a normal limit, you should visit a hospital and get a blood panel performed.
@joantendler6518
@joantendler6518 Год назад
Good point. Cholesterol is also a "key constituent" of brain myelin, and myelin is damaged or otherwise dysfunctional with mental and neurological illnesses. This may be why people on statins often get depression with their low cholesterol. I was nervous and depressed as a vegetarian, but my doctor always congratulated me on my low LDL cholesterol! Cholesterol is also an important immune system component, and I no longer get sick, like I used to, on a regular basis. The essential fat arachidonic acid, also only in animal foods, is extremely important as well for functional myelin and, thus mental health. Since our brains regulate our bodies, it's really important to support brain health, specifically myelin, with cholesterol and essential fats in our diet.

Our body makes its own cholesterol from the fats that are in tiny amounts in the plants and that is enough as long as you're eating your caloric needs you'll get that eating a wide variety of plant food.. if you're concerned and want to make a little extra fat avocados nuts seeds..
@joantendler6518
@joantendler6518 Год назад
@@jamiepitcher2055 Low cholesterol is a huge problem that you should make sure you avoid. People with low cholesterol are more likely to have depression and to commit suicide. This may be because we make sex hormones from cholesterol, also vitamin D, cortisol (the stress hormone), and bile (which removes toxins). Also, healthy LDL (not oxidized) is an important part of our immune response to pathogens. I had very low cholesterol as a vegetarian, eating nuts, seeds, and avocados, but I was also depressed, although I thought at the time that I was doing fine. Now I eat an ancestral foods ketogenic diet, and my mood is very upbeat-utterly different, my vitamin D levels are normal, and I don't catch colds anymore. You have to experience it to know what I'm talking about.

I think how you eat I food is more influential to your health status than the food in itself and your diet in general is an important factor as well. For example, if you eat eggs with sausage, pancakes, hash browns, and bacon….and you eat a bunch of processed foods, sure you will run into problems. But if you eat eggs with spinach, kale, cucumbers, bell peppers, and avocado-(my breakfast) and eat a whole food diet and significantly reduce or eliminate all processed foods in general you will be in perfect health. My doctor is always amazed at my blood pressure and health status whenever I get a checkup. In fact, my blood pressure is much lower than when I didn’t eat them. I used to never eat eggs bc I didn’t like them growing up, but pasture raised eggs taste so much better and are much higher in nutrients. JUST EAT REAL FOOD AND YOU WILL BE FINE.

Ellen White was exposed to mercury when assisting her father in making hats. Hallucinations became so common in hatters that the phrase “mad as a hatter” was born. On June 6, 1863, she experienced an hallucination that showed her that vegetarian food, as was described in Genesis 1:29, was the proper food for humankind. This is counterintuitive, because humans evolved on eating meat, rather than grains, and grains occasioned the first cases of epilepsy. This occurred in Assyrian, soon after the Assyrians became the first humans to cultivate grains. Assyria is the approximate location of the Garden of Eden, and the fall of mankind occurred due to eating grains, which feed a brain parasite, Toxoplasma gondii, that causes epilepsy and hallucinations. So, whatever you do, stick to your ancestral foods-ruminant meat-to support the health of your brain, and to prevent hallucinations from parasites and metals, like those of Ellen White.
@MagnumCarta
@MagnumCarta Год назад
The concept of vegetarianism long predates the 1800s. Focusing on one particular example does not somehow refute many other examples of long-living, healthy vegetarians. For example, multiple religions in India (Buddhism, Jainism, etc) promote vegetarianism. We should not automatically assume that being vegetarian or vegan equals being healthy but we should not assume the antithesis of that either. Our strongest science is based off of large population trials and most ubiquitously show that a diet large in vegetables is in fact the healthiest diet. Technically the "healthiest" diets seem to be those that focus predominantly on plants with a bit of fish and a low amount of processed foods. So whatever you do, stick to what the large scientific community is responding on and not simply an appeal to history.
@joantendler6518
@joantendler6518 Год назад
@@MagnumCarta Whatever you do, take care of your own body and mind. I ate a very healthy vegetarian, then vegan, diet for 35 years, and developed osteoporosis, depression and brain fog, irritable bowel syndrome and many food sensitivities, and muscle weakness, all of which has happened to many other vegans I know. This is due to the lack of adequate essential fats, minerals, and vitamins in plant foods. I became disabled for 6 years as a result. I added fish to my diet, but only regained my health when I added fatty meat. Please read "Big Fat Surprise" by Nina Teicholz, if you're interested in how the "technical" information that you believe in is contrived via new statistical machinations and is supported via plant food industries, like Kellogg's, the nut councils, Gates with his GMO soybeans, and Pepsico. Regarding India, the meat they produce is very unhealthy and best avoided because, for thousands of years, they have been growing cotton and giving the seeds to their animals, like we've been doing here as well. The poison in cottonseed, gossypol, causes heart disease, and it gets into the meat. This is why I eat grassfed or organic meat and dairy.

"I ate a very healthy vegetarian, then vegan, diet for 35 years, and developed osteoporosis, depression and brain fog, irritable bowel syndrome and many food sensitivities, and muscle weakness, all of which has happened to many other vegans I know. This is due to the lack of adequate essential fats, minerals, and vitamins in plant foods." Can you explain to me how you can "eat a very healthy vegetarian/vegan diet for 35 years" and yet "lack essential fats, minerals and vitamins"? It is either you had an inadequate, poorly planned vegetarian diet that was lacking in fats, minerals and vitamins OR you had a healthy vegetarian/vegan diet which would have ensured that one got sufficient fats, minerals and vitamins. In a venn diagram, those circles do not intersect. They are fully separate groups. Most likely you ate a diet that appeared to be a healthy vegan diet. Lots of salads, low fat. But that is not a healthy diet. It just looked what people imagine a healthy diet looks like, with a bunch of assumptions and opinions, but low on facts and science. To have a healthy vegetarian diet, one does have to consume a lot of food. Many vegetarians are eating UNDER their caloric requirement. That is the main reason that these deficiencies show up. Eat like a body builder, large meals three times a day. Along with foods with good fats and oils. Secondly, many of these "symptoms" such as depression, are not necessarily caused by the diet. For instance, bone density is affected by many things such as sunlight exposure and stressing the bones through HARD physical activity like weight lifting. I know that my depression would be here with me if I ate meat or not. The truth is, a healthy diet is hard to do. Doesn't matter if you eat meat or don't. HEALTHY diet doesn't just "happen". It takes planning and research. Overall, it is easier to obtain a healthy diet without meat than with meat, just as it is easier to have a healthy diet without Twinkies than with Twinkies. But one can certainly have Twinkies as a part of a healthy diet.

Soooooo, there's one camp claiming eating meat and other animal foods is healthy and natural for human beings and not to make plants solely your diet. Then, there's the opposing camp that claims meat and other animal foods are bad for your health, cause problems with your health, and are to be avoided while a plant-only diet is the way to go. Both camps claim they are correct and both camps display and promote lots of studies, doctors talking, and on and on. And, of course, both camps have their fanatics that seem like they'd not hesitate to delete anybody who does not agree with them. Anybody else out there seeing how ridiculous all of this is? How about eating a combination of all the food groups and calling it good? Does that make any sense?

There is a healthy user bias and an unhealthy user bias in these studies. For instance, compare people who eat a carnivore diet to people who eat plants (including folks who also eat meat). The carnivores will come out as much healthier and live longer. I would like to see a true test of carnivores only (less than 20 net carbs a day) and vegans and vegetarians. The problem is many if not most carnivores were vegan, and changed for mental and physical health so getting vegans to stick to it could be a problem.
