here in France those EV sockets are popular as they can be installed by DIYers or electricians without the specific car charging qualification. They are more expensive sockets (either made by Legrand, Hager or Schneider electric) but there are differences with other outside sockets. The contacts are silver plated for better conductivity. They are probably bigger, too. And it has screw terminals, with some sockets accepting up to 6sq.mm wires. That size is not commonly used as 2,5 is enough, but depending on the length of the cable it can be necessary to use 6 square millimeters, even for A 16 A socket on a 20 amp breaker. So those sockets are suitable for that. In the Legrand range, there is an obvious difference in quality, a standard socket will melt with repeated 13A charging, while an EV one stays fine over the years.
That's the installation I'm looking for. Connection straight from the metre cupboard into a new consumer unit within the garage. Rear entry into the EV charger and with no visible cables exiting the metre cupboard. Tidy. I've been following your channel for a little while now and found it to be a great help, Excellent videos, Thanks 👍
Guess what! My Indra Smart Lux was cutting out I told them it seems thermal related. Guess what I was right the tethered plug (manufacturers side) the neutral was arching neutral started to blacken looks like the relay started to bubble causing it to cutout thermal related I believe as resting it by the RCBO worked for awhile then cut out, I adviced them they may want to pigtail the connection so it can’t pull itself out of the waggo’s
i've never in my life ever bought anything just under the word of someone else unless i know them personally... i want to use the tool/item/appliance myself before i buy anything.. if i cannot, i go elsewhere.. i especially dont buy things that are the market fad and absolutely everyone is pushing i prefer to, again try it myself so i can give my honest word about its quality. case and point i used to use cordless tools built by a company that uses alot of red that starts with M.. i binned my entire set after i went though 5 batteries in 2 years 2 of the batteries were replacements themselves and not knockoffs i bought them straight from the local authorised dealer.. the dealer tried to get most replaced but the main office refused to warranty them.. the dealer was brilliant they are great people they themselves was willing to eat the cost and replace 3 of the batteries out of there own pocket i refused as i dont see why they should pay so i bought an entirely new replacement set from a different brand they sell. wonderful people at that shop so they keep me as a customer i just wont buy tools when the brand themselves wont stand by there own tools..
bail and dont touch rats nests of wires like that unless your hired to do this proper... ive walked away from similar and i will continue.. im not putting my name anywhere on a job thats lined to monstrosities like that... my word and my promise to integrety on installation is in jeopardy with that mess..
Very good, only comment is the Zappi was installed way too low! Us older clients don't like bending down fiddling with screens! One thing you did not point out as it was not relevant to this install, but is missed constantly by some installers is that the Grid CT is set to CT1 from the factory and when this is in fact connected to the Harvi or another myenergi device leaving multiple grid CTs on a system renders them not working correctly.
Hi Adam, with a Zappi, where would the CT clamp need to be put in order for it to take from solar, but not drain a battery storage? Reason for asking is I’ve got a garden room which has a 16mm armoured cable going to it and I’d like to have solar on it in the future and contain battery storage to provide for the house. But, there is no Ethernet cable to there for a CT clamp. Would a CT need to be at the garden room end for anything?
Hi buddy, you need a ct around the solar circuit at the consumer unit, you can use a harvi for this if no cat5/6 is installed, the cts don’t control the battery, you need to program the batteries to not discharge when your car is scheduled to charge
The snails love our Simpson. Inside it outside it, they just love it. We now always check before opening or closing that flap, otherwise they get a bit crunchy.
Quick question pal I have seen videos of.the pasloade electricians gun when using it to fix to brickwork it seems there is a high chance of cracking the brick have you found this ?
