Absolutely love my 2017 LS. It is the best car I've ever driven, let alone got to actually own. It's a joy to drive, quiet, solid, and with power to spare. Sometimes I drive just to drive it, with no particular place to go - which I never did much before in any other car I've owned or driven. I drove it a lot during a recent August heat wave, since sitting behind the wheel of my LS was the most comfortable place to be I know of. Sitting in the driver's seat with the A/C on, in 95° ambient outside is more comfortable than my recliner chair at home. Driving the LS460 is a thousand times more pleasant than it is to drive behind the wheel of any other, lesser cars ...
I have a 2015 LS 600hL and my dashboard de-lamented - faulty installation from Lexus. Mine is garaged with 51K miles. Lexus USA did absolutely nothing to correct the problem - not even a return email (classless). The replacement costs were - 16K for new dashboard and 2.5K to install. So I had is re-wrapped and a restoration shop in Denver for 3K. What I also did was legally tint the front windshield to eliminate the UV rays. Disappointed that Lexus did not stand behind their mistake. I want to share my story with all Lexus owners. If you have a Lexus with a leather dashboard - good luck.
We had a 2008 LS with the same melting dashboard syndrome. We took it to our Lexus dealership and there was about one year of back and fourth with Lexus headquarters before they finally agreed to replace parts of the dashboard.
@@TheChrisAndKen You were lucky - Lexus USA did nothing. I had it re-wrapped at a local shop plus I bought original Lexus leather for the dashboard - cost 3.5K not including a new windshield. They keep the dashboard intact - they used the correct amount of glue and leather. I did send Lexus USA management team an invoice for 4K - some lower level spokesperson called and basically said if I send anymore emails they will bring legal team in to deal with me. In my opinion they are a bunch of cowards - who can not spell the word "Customer service".
Great choice, everything about my 2017 LS is terrific. I think I'm lucky I got the 2017 model, the final model year with all the mechanical updates and upgrades to fix most of the major issues the 460 had. I have 70,000 miles total and ought to be good for at least another 100,000. But at my age the thing might actually outlive me, if it doesn't and I have to buy another car it'll probably be an ES350. I don't care much for the LS600 they replaced the LS460 with - a twin turbo V6 just isn't the same aesthetic as the mighty V8, to me. Hopefully you don't have the air suspension, if the car has it I'd be prepared to make the fix it or delete it choice if it goes bad. If you go to the Lexus site and type in your VIN it'll tell you most or all the service it got during its service life, at least anything done by Lexus dealers.
Def not. Very little goes wrong on these cars. Especially the V8. Only real thing to look out for is the lower control arms. That’s only because of how heavy these things are. Other than that 5k mile oil changes and gas is all you really have to do. Routine maintenance is key otherwise everything will go bad
@@Mr921kevin The 2007-2012 did have several big issues. 2013-2017 if maintained are definitely pretty great vehicles. Of course the LS 460 cannot touch the reliability of the LS 430.
