As a photographer myself, I can say this slider is amazing for time-lapse definitely, I had the opportunity to work with a filming company that have a 3D slider and it was amazing Personally I just finished my studies so I don't have too much shooting and filming equipments, and I project to do some time-lapse for growing flowers with this slider, also maybe some baking vine style videos at my friend's bakery store !
It's really nice when I use this automatic slider in my production. because it can be controlled by using a mobile phone wirelessly. so that one operator can operate 2 cameras at the same time. It's a really amazing and very relaxing technology in video production.
thanks, this is honestly the best slider review i've found in my quest for sliders so far. One thing I just read on an amazon review that is good to know, is that connecting to the device requires internet, as it requires you to log in. So if you're in the middle of nowhere with no internet, this thing does not work. Quite a big deal when you're looking for absolute reliability
Hmm that's a very good point! But only if you're not signed into the app before you go offline. If you've signed in, it'll stay signed in even when you disconnect from wifi/data

I am a DJ and Beginner Filmmaker. Right now i am shooting my DJ Sets with 2 Cams and i am thinkin about adding a third Angle. A Moving Camera in Front of my Decks would fit so well. I am also interested in filming After Movies of Parties etc. and i would use the Slider for that aswell!
This makes me appreciate the edelkrone I just got less than a week ago that I was thinking about returning and still will probably but I definitely appreciate it more after watching this
The previous review you did for the GVM slider made me subscribe to your channel, but I have not bought the slider for budget reasons. I have since improved a lot in lighting and sound, but I think the slider can improve my videos even more. I am 22 years old and have been working for 3 years as a filmmaker for non-profit organizations.
Always wanted a motorized slider just never been able to afford one truthfully so it would be a blessing either way thank you for your information. If I had it it def would help me with my faith based filming and testimonial interviews.

I just sat and watched this solidly for 12 minutes. I would love this without the use of Bluetooth but a small touch screen or buttons to program it on the machine itself.
I used a GVM slider at a previous job and loved how well it worked. I completely agree with the points you made in this video. I'd love this slider to help with my freelance design and videography business. i'm really trying to build out my video options and this would really set my work apart.
Can I mount a gimbal on it so I can independently set my RS2 to rotate while the slider loops a motion? (I don't need interconnectivity, just wondering if this would be safe on a tripod)

I agree with your comment about the sloppy 'interview' mode on the original 31" GVM. They use the single plastic fork that slides along the centre rail and it has a certain amount of give, which makes it difficult to keep your subject centred. The slop is particularly noticeable when it changes direction in loop mode. Glad to hear they've gone with wheels instead of a plastic fork arrangement. BTW, you mentioned your frustration with timelapse. I too struggled with it, and ended up doing a how-to with the GVM on my Photo Topics channel...if you're interested.

Good review, really helpful to understand some of the current limitations of the product and your suggestions for where they could improve. As for how i would use the slider,….Í’m planning to do some interviews with academics in Q2 and this would help detract from the tedium of their monologues (you can see why i’m semi-anonymous on this platform),
Thank you for this review. I am shopping for a slider and new to this type of product. I will not buy a product that requires a cell phone. Because this ideology is based on the expectation people buy a new phone every year. - What are good motorized budget sliders that are self contain?
I’ve been looking at the different models GVM haves and wondered what the key differences were. I would love to try Timelapse on one of these. I’ve only used Timelapse when mounted to a tripod but it would be nice to add a new ingredient to the recipe.
You sold me on the YC Onion a year or so ago, definitely an improvement over the 80QD. I'm pretty happy with it, don't think I need to upgrade but if I still had the 80QD this would be a nice update. I wonder if you could retrofit the new motor to the 80QD?
Key point that you mentioned. You said the wheels not allow for immediate movement and repeatable shots? I really am looking to use it on some items I want to replace in cuts, so you think this would work with this slider?
No the wheels do allow for immediate movement. It was the old mechanism they used which didn't work well. Movements are repeatable on the bluetooth unit
Hey David! Is there any good options for budget manual sliders that are worth considering or should we just save to buy this instead? I work for a company where we get to do videos to showcase how things work but it sucks because it’s always been low budget so it would be cool to add this to my arsenal and provide more dynamic shots.
Do you know if you can use the time-lapse feature without using the trigger wire. I.e. using the camera settings for controlling the shutter? GoPro would be the intended camera.
Yeah of course, as long as you get your intervalometer settings in camera to match the sliders then it'll work. The slider cable is a one way signal to the camera. The camera doesn't communicate with the slider
@dodmedia , this video motivated me to order the same slider , received it now i cannot even register to sign in the app is there still hope? I can't seem to find a solution
I had one! At the beginning it worked great but after a year the center slide bar that allows the camera to follow or pan started to become a bit rough making the footage unusable. It never fell or hit anything I even tried to lubrificate it but it didnt work. For time lapse it was great though
Strange. The caddy has two wheels either side of the bar. Maybe they got dust in them? 😕 Not sure how it would become stiff otherwise if it hadn't been damaged or bashed in any way
I totally agree. I've figured out you only need to sign in once though then you can even go airplane mode keeping bluetooth on and it will reconnect again if needed. But yes as I said in the review, I hate that factor. Why not give a remote?!
The gavt you have to use your phone to control it is a turn off. Nowadays everything is coming out as blurtooth/wifi control by an app - you end up needing several phones to be able to manage your gear.
Precisely how I feel about it too. And for pretty much everything else, it would be a dealbreaker. But this is smooth and easy enough I'm happy to make an exception
my almost new GVM 80 old model controller broke and i email them for a month and there''s only 1 reply initially and then not a single reply after that. Theres no way of buying a controller from them, I had to buy a full set on another slider on the 2nd hand market just for the controller. Never will ever touch this brand again. Product is ok but if you have any issue, its good luck to you and they'll not reply. Horrible company, only wants to sell but horrible after sales service. Buy at your own risk !

Loving the Freewell magnetic ND system BTW - bought on your recommendation (sadly not from your link as they wouldn't ship to me on that link - sorry) I have missed a few videos as YT had stopped notifying me even the bell was on "all" not sure why, but just checked in with your channel by chance and saw a whole bunch of videos I missed - just so as you know.
