UK rider here, subscribed within 6 minutes due to your common sense approach and passion for the Himalayan. Make another video in 2 months time about your 2 1100 Honda's and say you don't miss the soul of the RE. The only downside of the Himalayan is the feeling of guilt when riding it, leaving my 3 ZX-11's and Honda CB500S home in the garage. So impressed with the Himalayan, I just purchased a Meteor 350. ONE LIFE, LIVE IT !!! Best wishes from the UK.

Absolutely brilliant video :) I've had 29 bikes, from 1927 long stroke singles, fireblades etc ran a 1967 Norton 650ss as a daily for 4 years (no car) adv wise I've had r1200gsa te 2014, vstrom1000xt, f800gs, vstrom 650xt (excellent) 390adv rejected x2 mine an dads. R1200gste Rallye an now the Himalayan I'd say its the most fun I've had on a Modern motorcycle superb handling, a brilliant engine and they just have a mojo that's hard to put your finger on. Would always prefer screw an locknut adjusters for the valve's that the Himalayan has. It's always interesting to see everyone else's take on a bike an finding the right one for us all is always different as to what we want from a bike :) look forward to following your journey.

I also normally sell machines that I don’t use much. I also have a larger capacity ADV, so I understand your decision. I’ve hung onto the Himalayan so far, though, because I normally only use it on small back and gravel roads. In that situation, it’s the best bike I’ve ever had. I’m undecided on whether I’ll keep it long-term because I know I’d miss it on those occasional rides. It’s a very niche-specific bike, at least for me. Funny: I am also interested in the 1100T. Having had an old bagger, I do miss being able to just pound out interstate miles with ease, comfort, and no worries about seat height.

My youngest son and his partner covered 15,000 miles around Europe in 2022 over four months, both riding Himalayans. That's thirty-five countries from Gibraltar to Finland and every (accessible) place in between. Ukraine was an obvious exception. They did their own servicing and tyre changes en route, but had no mechanical failures. Both bikes are still in daily use as ride-to-work commuters. Impressive I reckon. Alogside my son and his partner, I rode my son's Himalayan to the Overland ADV festival in Oxfordshire last year. I loved the bike from minute one. So I bought one. The Himalayan is so much more than the sum of its parts. Sure, it's not fast, but that's not what it's supposed to do! It's a great all-purpose, everyday runner and riding it is just a total hoot! Love your assessment of the Himmy, keep going! Ride safe. Love and peace.

Great video!! And then? You sell it, I have a mild level of autism, and I am very blunt, please understand, it is not personal....... Your ego is the deciding factor! Should have sold your wonderful African Twin, a less adventure bike than the himmy, and absolutely buy your1100t. YOU KNOW I AM RIGHT!! Great video man, you convinced me to buy a himalayan

I like your channel and I can see myself evolving much like you. I hope you have time to digest and respond to where I'm at. I'm 51 and live in East Tn. I used to ride up until my 20's (when I met my wife and raised a family). I got the motorcycle itch and bought a DRZ400S that had been fully modded and ready for the TAT or Smokey Mountain 500, etc. I thought that's what I wanted to do, but I really don't want to put the time into learning how to off-road single track, etc. I really dislike mud and having the back end slide out and dumping the bike (which I know is part of learning). I also have no real desire to moto-camp, as I would rather stay in a cabin, etc. which they have all over East Tennessee. I do really enjoy the twisties through the awesome mountains, as well as gravel and dry dirt, and mild fire roads through the forest (although sometimes those get a little sketchy at times, but it's ok as long as a vehicle can make it too). The DRZ can handle all the unpaved roads like a champ, but it is extremely lacking in it's street performance. Anything over 50mph the engine is screaming, you really have to man handle the gear box, it gets blown all over the place on the open road. In short, I am looking for a bike that I can go on some spirited mountain twisties with the ability to do the above mentioned off pavement roads on a 3-8 hour cruising day. My dream bike is the Husqvarna Norden 901, but I feel like I need a smaller bike to put a couple of years and miles into before I graduate up to that. What direction would you suggest? What are your thoughts on the NC for that role? I have also thought about the CB500X with the 19" front. How about your thoughts on the Aprilia Tuareg 660 which seems like a unicorn bike (luckily I'm about 15 miles away from a dealer). I've thought about the two bike solution, but I don't want to get somewhere on a sport touring bike and not be able to take that unknown gravel road. Sorry for my long post. Just theory crafting my next move. lol I love motorcycles and If I'm not riding, I like thinking about them which I think you do also 😀

I’ve been looking at Royal Enfield. I want one or actually two. For ADV the Himalayan or Scram 411 and for road the Int650 or Classic 350. For ADV luggage would be the deciding factor and for road street or highway. I love the style of the Scram and Classic a little more but the Himalayan and Int650 are probably a bit more practical for my purposes. I plan to keep my KLR and want to have 3 maybe 4 bikes when I have the room but I won’t let a bike sit.

I, like you own a AT DCT. I’m interested in getting a Himalayan. I’m a beginner adv rider and for me the AT is a handful, but I got a great deal on it and I absolutely love it. So why would I consider the Himi? It really boils down to this. I’d rather bang around a $5000 bike then a $10,000 bike. I’ve dropped my twin twice and I cringe every time. I guess I want a cheap bike to learn on and beat through the trails, and keep my Twin for longer rides. Just my opinion though.

It's a beautiful bike and I'm about to put a deposit down on the new 450 Himalayan, which comes out in 2024 where I am. I will be selling my 2022 Bonneville 1200cc cruiser for this bike as I just don't need that much power in this part of the world. It's really overkill and the bad roads are a problem. I think the 411 is still a great bike, and I actually like the retro look better than the more modernized look of the 450, but the extra 20 or so hp from the 450 will just make it the perfect bike for where I live... in Asia.

@patrykrog8121
@patrykrog8121 Год назад
@@chaitanyashervegar8234 problem is that then it will cost the same amount as other bikes and also it wont be as simple. Im saving up for this bike and for me the biggest selling point is how simple the bike is and if i wanted liquid cooling and more power then i would get a used honda cb 500x or a suzuki v strom 650. There is plenty of options if you want more power and this bike is for a completely different market. People wanting a vstrom wont buy a royal enfield and personally i think thats how it should be otherwise if everyone wanted the same bike then all we would have is the bmw 1250gs because everyone would always want more power.
@LordHolley
@LordHolley Год назад
@chaitanya shervegar I hear you. We really have to see how that bike compares to modern bikes. For me, part of the charm of the bike is its simplicity. If I have to go to water cooling, there are just a lot of other options.

(JUST MY OPINION GUYS) best way to explain the himalayan from, the perspective of a dual sport fanatic: The royal enfield himalayan, is basically the Klr650 just WAYYYY cheper, and WAYYYYYY more asteticaly pleasing, as well as actually being abit lighter! Kinda like that meme, "you vs, the guy she tells you not to worry about" lol

Never on auto because it drags you like a slow tractor and when I tip shift it, it's always stutter in some point or downshift poorly. And no, it's not a computer. It's been calibrated. I need a full manual gear shift. Pls. What's the 70 mph revs? im asking because fuel consumption. Good vid. thumbs up
