Unfortunately this plane has one big weakness...the american teams. I fly 109 and I always want to have the Americans against me, then I am calm, we will win this, I think to myself everytime.
As an American player, this is correct. I climb, look over, just about everyone is dead because they all attack a low bomber. I just try to get at least one dead of the 7 I'm facing
American teams are definitely a tad bit brain damaged. The amount of times I had P-51s trying to turn fight me while playing the Ki-61-I is outrageous. Definitely made the grind a lot easier
@CecilioSprayetti I do that sometimes if everything is a complete mess at the beginning (usually is). Then it's just to have fun and to see what I can do.
@@CecilioSprayetti Yes, yesterday a P-51 did vertical loops against my Ki-44, didn't stand a chance. I fear the Americans least of all, with the exception of the XP-50, and P-36 :D
Performance wise it is very good, but the armament is very, VERY weak IMO. 4x .50s only deals heavy damage if you manage to get a decent burst on the enemy, cause if you don't, you rely on the right rounds hitting the right components (unlike 20mms at the same BR that can snap wings off enemies with very small bursts).
I swear they changed the damage of 303’s within the last two updates, cause I remember in late 2023 where I got an insanely high kill rate with the Spitfire mk. I. Cause now it’s back to what it usually was, using most of your ammunition to maybe kill one plane.
Where is the British P51-B Gaijin?? Yet despite the real history its STILL not in the British Tech Tree despite the 17 or so Squadrons across the Common Wealth, the first combat seen etc etc.. Britain fielded hundreds just of the B/C models yet countries that had a dozen post war surplus get it. Same main tech tree neglect as the P40/M4 variants/M5A1/B24/B25/M16/M3gmc75/lack of Portee 25lber/6lb/2lb/20mm/40mm and dozens of other vehicles Gaijin hates Britain.
As a sim player, I never liked em Unlike other razorbacks like the 109, it’s nearly impossible to see backwards at all It’s very understandable as to why pilots wanted the D variant’s bubble canopy after playing in first person for any amount of time
The Razorbacks are still workable, f6f and the early corsairs are the absolute worst offenders. legitimately 0 visibility backwards. I never play them without a wingman, tired of getting snuck up on.
@@Birdman369 trick is to always stay above 5000 meters and/or 350 mph As a P-51D player, only times I’ve ever been ‘jumped’ probably where when I was climbing initially or climbing after diving on someone and their buddies showed up
I don't get why the br has to go up and down from 3.7 ,up to 4.7, and down to 2.7, this seems a little ridiculous, why don't we battle at same br or 0.3 higher and lower , if quantity of players is a problem I don't mind waiting longer for rooms to form in realistic air battles.
The C-10 is stronk. It's like they took a P-51D and said "hey, what if we made this thing light enough to actually climb/accelerate and turn, but it somehow is also a bit faster? Now that you can actually use your insanely high speed in a more useful/offensive manner, we're going to *lower the BR so you can club seals with it*" Thing rocks and woe to 109 wehraboos who discover that this thing entering a merge at 600kph will get on their six faster than they expected. Go ahead and stallfight me, this huge prop still produces thrust at low IAS, unlike your three-bladed pinwheel. 4 .50cals is plenty when you have the napalm laser belts
Out of curiosity, which are the other two planes in the top three of this BR, I’m looking for something to fly. Also, stat cards are completely useless, which is very annoying. Love the videos!
Ki-44-II hei (China)/ Ki-44-II (Japan), really good aircraft but main drawback will be your top speed and amount of guns but when they connect they hit pretty hard and also high alt performance is not that good. :D
7:26 the more energy the p51 has, the better it turns (until it starts compressing or your pilot blacks out) It’s a solid turner at 250 and above, keep in a slight dive when doing a 1 circle to maintain the speed, and never do any ‘flat’ maneuvers unless the opponent is damaged or you have much more energy than them Lessons learnt from flying the p51 in sim
P-63A-5 has better weapon config and climb rate....at 3.3. Better in every way for your playstyle of showing up to the battle 5 minutes late and boom/zoom rinse repeat P-51 Hispano has better weapon config and turn rate, making it better for the style you wanted to pretend the 51C is good at (low altitude turnfight) IDK how you think the worst American fighter at 3.7 is the best overall
I know they're basically the same..but I prefer the Chinese P51C 11 NT that I got from the battle pass for free or the Japanese one (tho the JP one i. I love US planes so much because I like extremely fast bois but the teams are absolutely atrocious (4 BnZ plane players going turn fighting and getting immediately sent to the hangar every 2-3 minutes)

The p51c has nothing that beats it at 3.7 the d5 at 4.0 is worse thsn the c in every way except guns. but the la5fn is quite funny because it gets the yak3us engine at 3.7 it just compresses way too easily. Fun fact the p39 at 2.7can beat the p51c in mpst ways its broken af
Try 288 like fighter, its the strongest 6.0 fighter I have K/D 5 on it, u can see that on my channel. American fighter have no chance vs 288 in dogfight, this bomber scares Spit LF IX when starts dueling, this "weak" bomber can fighting with two, three enemies in one time and kill them all)
not going to lie I keep getting this one and the cannon stang mixed up so I when I think HAH! 50 cals and my shit get blown up I am like... Ohhhhhhh it's a Cannon Stang lol
I think you should try the Hurricane Mk I/L any day. It has a very good turn time, quite decent speed and climb rate and very good burst mass. It also has one great skin in-game too.
Way over Br'd !! Compare WT's early 109's of same vintage ... whole BR lower despite both entering service at same time and entering production in 1936!!! Also the Gaijin flight model is trash, very poor rudder and aileron authority. Unlike the Russian mixed materials planes the Hurricane catches fire and takes damage way too easily when it was renown by its pilots for its toughness and getting home despite damage that would end most comparative fighter of its time.
I have been sonehow demolishing everybody in the french mkIV Firefly. Sure the thing can't climb if it's life depended on it but the 4 Hispanos and turnrate more than make up for that.
I find it odd that the P-51 seems to perform so poorly in War Thunder when it (the D variant specifically) was probably the single best fighter aircraft of the European theatre. If it weren't for the graft and corruption at the War Department the Allies would have fielded them several years earlier too!
I prefer the spitfire because of the 20mm canons and also the way it climbs its perfect for me its very fast and also has good manoeuvrability because of it being British idk what mk it is but its good for its br i don't like the American's planes they don't have good manoeuvrability they have good guns and they are fast but they don't have good manoeuvrability that is why i don't like them but looks good might give it a try also love the videos they always make me laugh
