Just wondering with 8,9 or even 10 speed automatics, has any car buying consumer ever wanted a gearbox with a million speeds to it? 6 speeds sounds more than enough to me, well played on common sense Mazda.
My 2016 E Class comes with 9 speed. Only ever seen 9th twice in my 4 years of ownership when on the highway being super economical. Engine barely working over 1,000 RPM.
the reason why manufacturers decided to have 8, 9 or 10 speeds is that so the car can have tight gearing for city use as well as long gearings for highway use. This can't be achieved if the car only has 5 or 6 speeds, because you have to choose between either having tight gearing good for city use but worse for highway use, or long gearing comfortable for highway use but very uncomfortable for city use.
@@HNRichard The real reason is to meet ever ridiculous emissions requirements where minute improvements in economy are the difference. Outside of that, how many gears to you do need on the highway? It’s only 1 once you get up and sit at the highway speed limit. 5 gears around town and one overdrive gear were always enough on the highway with a standard 6 speed box.
@@sneakyfoz3692 so? you can still use only 6 gears if you want to. Other people might like it more if they have more gears and have low rpms at higher speeds. It might have small difference in fuel economy, but its a change for the better nontheless.
I had a Mazda 6 in 2015, and i loved it. Sadly, due to back problems i had to trade it in for a CX-5 which was easier to get into. Much as i like the CX-5, my heart sinks every time i see a Mazda 6 because it is such a gorgeous car and incredible to drive.
Yes! I have a 2021 Mazda 6 with the 2.5 turbo and it’s a joy to drive. I sometimes drive into the office instead of just working from home just so I can go for a drive in it 😂
I have a Lexus IS and a 2021 Mazda 6. I prefer the Mazda more often than I should. It’s a lovely car and feel nimble and rapid and the Mazda styling language right now is just lovely.
Ground clearence isnt always just used for offroad. Many driveways have very steep entries, I myself have scraped the front lip of my hatchback on many of these and it makes me cringe everytime.
I own the 2020 GT and get feedback all the time on how good it looks. It drives incredibly well (2.5 turbo does the job nicely) and has every luxury you could want. I have 2 kids and hate SUVs so a wagon was the only way to go.
Nice car, but I got the scr tdi blue motion R Line 190bhp b8 estate, everything you need, I prefer the vw over all, but masfa is a good car too. I guess it's how it makes you feel and does it put a smile on your face every time you drive. I think if car does that for you and for me Estate cars or wagons are the way to go if you want a car that does everything, these cars are the way for you friends, even volvo does great wagons. I had these crossover suv thing my bobs 😂😂, and I have to be fair because they sit higher on the struts and springs well the ride got on my nerves after a while, so I sold it on, I lost interest, since taking ownership of vw R line scr tdi blue motion 190 bhup I love it, its a fantastic car and I bet these other models are too, its down to which you prefer, the R line is fully loaded and a Full glass roof front to back, and I can do what ever I want with my wagon, lugging stuff about, I, ve even had a sofa 3 seater in mine, so it's a No brainer not that your gonna do that every day but by Jo it does help. 😁😁😁👍, great power, flappy paddle, 7 speed and sport engage which puts the gearbox in top end mode for 190 bhp horses, and I can change supsention to 4 settings ta very much. So my advice take plenty of time to find right model don, t rush, go different places, try emmm out, take several weeks testing, looking, getting a feel for things, it's worth it in the end 👍👍😁
Although this car is getting on now, they still look so classy. It’s a shame they aren’t doing another generation. They should have made a new electric 6. I reckon it would sell like hot cakes.
A handsome handy wagon, with a great Turbo option and no CVT!. Whats not to like? But wrong about SUV having space up high, that doesn't matter. It actually does, for many. Bikes and when your moving boxy high stuff etc etc.
2.5l turbo & it struggles to deliver 200kw. Mazda makes very handsome cars but they need to decide whether they're going sporty or frugal before they lose all customers to competitors.
Forget about the 'peak power glossy brochure figure', look at the torque figure. Mazda tuned that engine on purpose to give strong low to mid range performance which is what it does quit comfortably in 'normal driving for the average person'. When developing the engine for the CX9 (it's main focus) they fitted the engine to a CX5 mule in the US and followed around the 'soccer mums' etc that drove SUVs and found most people rarely got over 3,000rpm. At that 3,000 rpm with that much torque, it would be making more power at those rpm than many similar capacity engines with that 200kw peak you are talking about. That is what the engine was designed for, everyday driving, not a traffic light grand prix. You don't have to 'get up it' to get decent acceleration. We have a 6 wagon with this engine and in every day driving around town and overtaking on the highway etc the performance is quite effortless and because the engine doesn't have to rev hard to make power, it is quite refined for a 4 cyl when providing that acceleration. Peak glossy brochure figures do not tell the whole story on how a vehicle performs. Unless you are playing a game of 'top trumps' of course!
If we didn't have mobility constraints that made an SUV a wise proposition, this is probably what we would have bought. It is such a shame that there's such little interest in 'conventional' cars that they effectively just hang on till pensionable age, then simply die out (with the exception of the Subaru Outback). I wish Mazda would pair the turbo 2.5 with a manual gearbox in any one of their vehicles; now THAT would be a special car.
I really like the Mazda 6. But they really slapped a special edition badge on it without doing anything special for it. The wheels and grille are just the Atenza ones. Why even bother to mention them when they're exactly the same?
I have the 2018 signature. I’m at 120000km/75000miles I had a couple small issues and one big transmission replacement… other than that I love my car!!
Fake leather. That stuff stinks so bad. Not sure how long it takes before it stops off gassing but the new Mazdas with fake leather I’ve sat in have left me with that smell in my head for days.
@@chasingcars Ok. It’s the Mazdas with a lot of Maztex that stink badly, trims only would be ok. I’ve only sat in new ones so the off gassing might be ok after several months. But when new I would not be in one.
My 12 year experience with 19" wheels and low profile tyres convinces me this wheel and tire combination isn't suitable for our roads because of the damage suffered to both on potholed surfaces. This is one reason why I've ordered a SUV to replace my current sedan to have decent size tyre sidewalls that the current crop of sedans and wagons don't have with their adoption of low profile wheels and tyres '
Why buy a FG Falcon G6E Turbo 50th Anniversary with the 19inch wheels standard and then put 18" that have the same issues or 17" that would look plain silly and wouldn't meet the wheel size specifications and be illegal. If you haven't experienced this you can't be expected to understand.
@@chasingcars Maybe. Before they build sedans and make sedans SUV. Now they may do it opposite. There is no problem to revert CX-60 in to a sedan. We`ll see. The platform is ready. The engines and gearboxes are ready.
@@chasingcars Yeah I'm not disputing that. People clearly value ride height as that is the only thing going for them vs wagons. As someone interested in wagons, I still think it would nice to see more comparison to other wagons as opposed to the brief mention of the Octavia.
@@cthorno2991 Does this mazda come with a manual? otherwise i think the CVT is probably just as good to be honest. I've driven the WRX with cvt and it's not bad like i was expecting it to be.
@@DesignVisStudios we must be looking at the same cars. I've driven both. Mazda uses a traditional auto. The Mazda also has a much nicer interior. Quite cheap plastics in the wrx but if the performance and AWD are more important to you I would think the WRX is for you. I thought you were referring to the XV Subaru and that CVT is having issues.
That screen looks like it’s been taken from a 2015 Mazda 2. Come on Mazda. For $50k you can’t use the landscape screen from the CX5/8/9? The embossed headrests and panel badge is very 00s Honda Accord.
That grill yukk mazda need to hire a California or chinese designer for their cars. Stuck in their old design rut.azda plain jane of the motor world. Its holding them back. Except mx5 which needs to improve in the rear and made bigger. Mx5 needs to be bigger a mx6 and a coupe and a 4 seater like the mustang.
