Is this the best way to putt? 

Love to know how you putt? Traditional or a new style?

I've been using this exact grip for a few weeks now. Needs some getting used to but I'm noticing more consistency with my putts. Nice vlog.

Changed to this grip during lockdown. No three-putts since Monday!

I'm just happy to see how excited you are about finding something new/different, I love golf.

Traditional for 30+ years , claw ( 3 fingers on top) the last month or so ( keeping my right hand/wrist out of the stroke has made a huge difference for me in accuracy but mostly in confidence )🍻

Love this grip I recently changed to it, I think it’s called the pencil grip. My distance control has improved so much! I practiced it for a couple a months before I put it in play, a lot more birdie puts dropping since I did

Andy, I tried this putting technique when I started to pull my putts left. I now put with normal grip on long putts and from 10 feet and in with the claw type grip. I have found it takes the right hand (my dominant hand) out of it a bit resulting in straighter putts. Must say my putting has improved a lot. The other change I have made is I have a Ping mallet putter and I lift the toe off the ground slightly, the putter is probably too flat for me being quite tall.

I’ve used the claw for 3 years. I went to it because I kept pulling my short putts left. It definitely worked!

I switched to same grip as tommy - has changed my putting tremendously.

I just tried using this style of putting this weekend, and I've had one very good day using it and one day not that good, I still not sure how to put my hands on the handle? Do you start the putting stroke together or do you start with the top or bottom hand? I would like to see a step by step walk through of how to put ones hands on the putter and the recommended ball position.

I've been using it all season it has helped me be a little better distance and accuracy 👌

Hope it works for you Andy- just changed my grip so both hands are level with each other and fingers interlocked-again trying to take the wrist action out of things but will give this ago aswell. A real eye opener for me was reading the 'Dave peltz putting bible'. Great book!

I adapted my own style about 10 years ago ago I kept over hitting putts with conventional style. Since I've watched more golf on TV I've seen people using it too! Kind of prayer grip style, don't know if it works better but feels comfortable for me

I switched to left hand low this year with a little forward press and it really seemed to help with my distance control. Recently I dropped the forward press and now hover a bit, seems to get a better roll. Still more, I'm about to go back to a blade from a mallet and see if that suits my game even more. I have tried the claw, just cant seem to feel comfortable with it, especially lag putting. Who knows what Fleetwood is doing, but it seems to work for him

I recently swapped to split hands palms up putting grip and changed the grip on my putter to BJM Kotahi grip (although you can still try it on a normal grip). Transformed my putting, so easy to keep on plane, very similar reasons I suspect to the Tommy grip. Else uses this grip I believe which has given him a new lease of life apparently! Give it a try 👍

I’ve been playing around with the claw. I’m liking it as I find my long lags are getting inside the 3 ft cirlcle on a higher percentage.

I putt the same as Tommy and it really helps me.

After a year. Did you continue using the Claw Gtip on your putting or did you go back to your original putting grip.?

I use a strange grip. I use a short of claw grip where I put the putter grip between my first two fingers on my right hand . It is a sort of a modified claw grip

I used this for 3 years Andy and for me by taking the right hand out of the equation prevented me from pulling the putts left of target. I did find though it was difficult to judge long distance and was better from within 10 feet or so.

That's what I do use my right hand for pace which I found hard too judge before now I'm mm perfect everytime or near enough

Good video. The idea d the claw grip (I’ve read) is to take the hands out of the stroke - you have to use your shoulders. Many find that their alignment is better and that the ball sets off on the intended line more - BUT some struggle to judge distance.

Nice! I've been putting similar to Phil Mickelson, open stance eyes behind the ball and enjoying some improvement over my traditional style. I like the look of this, will give it ago for sure :)

Do you use mainly shoulders or hands ?

Only way to judge if better is to run a Pelz putting test with old grip vs new grip or old putter vs new putter. This is the best way to assess any changes.

I have a close friend who uses this crip , and a very good putter. Is weight on putts means 3 putts are far less likely than my own . I am going to give this a go ,great video thanks for your efforts.

Back in April, I changed over to a pen/claw grip similar to Tommy Fleetwood. I feel it takes 5-6 strokes off my score by taking my right wrist out of the swing. However, it does not work for me with any putter. I get the best results with a toe weighted putter as opposed to a face balanced putter (which would be my preferred choice). Watching Tommy's action would lead you to think it is all straight back and through (favouring a face balanced putter) but for me, I consistantly push it left of the hole, where as the toe balanced putter seems to keep it on line (much to the disappointment of my opponent in a recent inter club comp when I sunk a winning 15 ft putt). So my recommendation is to try the grip, but possibly with a variety of putters (face, toe and heal balanced).

I actually have two different putting grip styles i use when on the greens for me when im on longer distanced putts im using the claw grip and on about 10 feet and in im standard conventional overlap kinda style grip but yes the claw for me is something that at least on longer putta has transformed my putting as far as seeing the lines and distance control

I've changed to the claw grip and noticed my line and length has got much better..

I putt close to the hole with the pencil putter grip. Otherwise it's normal and a bit wristy for anything longer. Nice video thanks.

Use the “fang” grip with grip between index and middle finger on right handed (I RH). Works better with smaller standard grips, but been successfully using for 2 years now. I No longer have the nick name “lunch ticket” at the club. Lol.

Traditional but I want to make an armlock putter and give that style a try.

Traditional for me , tried cack handed but didn't feel great. Claw works for a lot of tour players but it looks a bit awkward.

Was struggling with putting, switch to Justin Rose style of claw grip (two fingers round front of grip rather than down right side) instantly sunk more putts and better distance control. Evnroll putter helped a bit too.

Traditional grip for me but putting is probably best part of my game so feel no reason to change

I used Tommy's grip for a while and it worked but back to traditional I keep changing most of the time

This my sound strange,but been a joiner by trade I always extend my index finger on my right hand along the back of the grip to steady me🤔same thing I do with an hand saw cutting wood etc work for me🤔 👍🙊🙈🙉😇

After your opening words, why did hair come right into my head ? Glad you said it too ! I've used the claw for a couple of years and its taken shots off. I do hole from over 40ft now, last week I birdied the 5th at Prestatyn from 45ft. Why do I use it ? It stops me breaking my wrists, it controls the face, it keeps the face on line with the target much better for me. Whatever style you use, being able to set the ball off online is the most important part of putting. Can't wait to see you after the Rooney do ! Its going to be funny, views through the roof and new subs in the 10s of thousands !

I use the claw inside 10 feet. It works for me. I hole a lot more birdies and those got to make par putts.

Traditional grip but with both index fingers pointing down the shaft. It works for so no sense in trying something different.

Traditional style and having taken 30 putts in a comp this weekend . . . I’ll stick with that 😉

I’m near sighted, wear contacts, 59 years old and had to wear reading glasses. I accidentally left out my left contact and now I can read without reading glasses and see far away enough to pass the the driver test, but best of all I started putting much better, making way more putts inside 15 feet.

Face on style inside 10ft., conventional outside 10ft. using an old Ping "lil' b" centre shafted 42" with split grips. Plumbob every shot outside of 3ft.

Wrestled with different putters this year. Bi time. All traditional grip. Switched back to the claw after a year away....carded a 73 today. As Chamblee says “I’ve not seen someone who has gone to this grip putt worse.” It will help you putt. Period.

Traditional style for 56 years. LOL Have tried left hand low and didn't like it. Tried practicing with the claw and felt uncomfortable. May give it another try.

I'm traditional style atm but have tried different grips

Been cross grip for about 15 years.

Left hand low for me. Works better than conventional. 27 putts last time out. But only 9 GIR so may not paint the full picture

It sounds as though you are hitting the ball from the same spot on the face of the putter to me

I put traditional and am normally quite good. But half the secret is reading the green.

Claw for short to mid length putts. Traditional for long putts
