Did Abobe just add support for Sony Cameras? I just my new a7c ii into my computer and tethering works just fine in LrC....

Thanks for making this video! There's so little information online about Smart Shooter 5 > Lightroom tethering. I need specific details to make purchasing decisions, and your tutorial is great. Subscribed! After you install the Lightroom plugin do you use Smart Shooter 5 software for anything other than connecting your camera to Lightroom? Or do you do all your camera adjustments, setting up photo shoots and file management in Lightroom? Do you use the collections feature in Lightroom, or do you just create new folders for every photo shoot? I'd love to see a follow up video of your Lightroom workflow with tips on keeping all your photos organized.

It doesn't work for me. I've tried with the latest version of Smart Shooter with latest of Lightroom classic.. It works in the Smart Shooter but once I install the plugin and do all the steps it never showed in Lightroom, it just keep searching... . What could it be wrong?

How fast do the tethered files appear in LRc? Much slower than to SmartShooter native? What about compared to wired tether to Imaging Edge->LRc (felt slow and definitely cumbersome)? How about compared to Capture 1?

The files take a few seconds to appear in Lightroom. Maybe about 2 seconds slower than when only using SmartShooter natively. It's definitely much faster than when you're tethered to Imaging Edge with a connection to Lightroom. I don't have Capture One so I don't know how long it takes for that one.

Thanks for your videos Desiree! I've learned a lot from them. Im having an issue with this tho where maybe you can help me figure this out or anyone in the thread. I have a MacBook Pro 2019 model (all USB C ports) I tried plugging USB C to USB C but it didnt recognize it. Now I have a little port with USB C (in Camera) to USB in an adapter - and still Smart Shooter 5 does not recognize any camera connection. Any reason as to why ? Thank you !

Are you using the USB cable that came with the camera or a third-party version? If you are using a third-party cable it might be missing a component that the cable that comes with the camera has that lets the Mac detect it.

Hi Desiree. I was using SmartShooter 5 with my Sony a7iv and LOVING it, but the software recently stopped detecting my camera. I've opened a tech support ticket and am currently awaiting a response. Can you please tell me what make/model of USB-C cable you use to connect your camera to your computer? Do you know of any recommended cable types/specs required by SmartShooter?

I use the Sony USB-C cable that came with my Sony A7IV. I don't know if SmartShooter recommends a specific type of cable. Tether Tools sells USB-C cables that are expensive but are compatible with that camera.

@@DesireeRodriguez Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the Sony cable is USB-C to USB-A, and I only have USB-C ports on my MacBook Pro. I tried using a USB-C to USB-A hub with the Sony cable, but it wouldn't work. I guess I'll have to save up for an expensive TetherTools cable. It would have been nice to know that I'd have to budget for that ahead of time in order to get SmartShooter to work. I might have invested in Capture One instead. Adobe needs to get their act together and support Sony cameras in Lightroom. They charge a premium for their software subscription but don't offer features that their competitors do.

@@chrisjohnston964 That is strange because I use a USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect the Sony cable to my computer since it only has USB-C ports and it works. I agree that Adobe needs to add Sony cameras to Lightroom tethering. It would make it so much easier.

@@DesireeRodriguez Can you please tell me which hub you use? I have an older Anker hub, which I'm looking to replace because I need one with a card reader since my tethering setup is no longer working.

Don't use Light Room. Affinity Photo is my choice after Sony Imaging Edge Editing is done if I need further editing. Imaging Edge gets the base and Affinity for the clean up.

Lightroom and Affinity Photo are completely different software.

@@felipemagalhaes567 They aren’t that different. I just found Affinity has proven to be the better of the two. It is also non- subscription based. That is what killed it for me when it came to Photoshop and Lightroom. I refuse to comply with subscriptions. Up until then I did use them.

Imaging edge is great for very basic edits and tethering. Affinity for those few touchups or some serious compositions.

Did you get your connection problem sorted out? Mine was working fine for a while, started cutting out intermittently then lost connection altogether. I cannot get SmartShooter to detect my a7iv.

@@chrisjohnston964 yeah I had to buy a cable from Tether Tools and now it just works
