I am a long-haul truck driver. My understanding is that many - dare I say 'MOST' - Walmarts no longer allow Big Rig or RV parking. I'm sure the reasons for this are manifold, but I've been told that since Sam Walton passed away, his children no longer feel strongly about providing this service to people, as he had. Many Walmart managers have made the decision to disallow parking, as they got extremely tired of picking up all the garbage that was being left in the lots. We did it to ourselves, it seems, and I can't blame them for getting tired of picking up other people's crap. Literally. Crap. We all need to leave spaces and places 'cleaner than we found them,' so parking anywhere doesn't become impossible. We must be good neighbors and citizens of the Planet.
@@robinr.9817, being as trucks and RVs used to be allowed to park at ALL Walmarts across the country, and suddenly cannot since Sam Walton's passing, if find that hard to believe. Are you saying that all of these zoning laws happened to change at the same time, in all of these locations, simultaneously? Some Walmarts are listed in my truckstop app as 'Call to ask manager in advance'... perhaps the zoning laws leave it up to the manager's discretion? It is, after all, still private property, yes? Police can only ticket/boot/tow on private property at the request of the property owner or their agent. I think that takes us back to square one.
I’m a long haul trucker with 30+ years on the road. It seems to me you are trying too hard and not planning your trips and needs very well. Get yourself a fuel card from Love’s or Pilot truckstops to earn free showers as you fuel. Learn to find your conveniences ahead of time. All of the areas you named I’ve run in a big rig and have had minimal issues. Also, if you are having such difficulties with parking in town, use UBER. As far as walmart is concerned, you may not be able to camp over night but you can shop. I think your choices have continued to be poor and undisciplined. I also camp in my Rockwood A212HW A-frame. Rule of thumb, if you see big rigs parked it is safe for you to park. Your reality displays your inattentiveness to detail. Your issues are uniquely yours and do not represent the life on the road.
Carolyn every flower blossoms on it's own and is uniquely beautiful unto itself you chose to share your experience to those you chose to call your " Friendlies" we are here chearing all the way for you!!! You have shown a path that's teaches others as you go along your way thank you for all you do!!!
No matter where you live there are pluses and minuses. But it seems like you spent more money in gas than you would have spent on that $5 - $7 fee to take a shower....
Planet Fitness black, card OR deal with moving gear out of the shower to use it. Cant move stuff out without leaving the door open? Too much stuff....plus sorry, very risky business showering with a flimsy RV screen door between you,and the world. It honestly doesnt have to be that difficult unless you make it so.
you CANNOT leave an infection unchecked. it must be seen by a doctor. i'm glad your patrons convinced you to do that. thank you for sharing this information. thank you for keeping it real.
We tend to think that w/so much over the counter cures, we can treat any and everything. Folks have no clue how fast and furious skin infections can spread, cellulitis, mrsa, to sceptic, scares the hell out of me! If it were bad enough to go to a Walk In I wonder if she should not have been seen in ER, open, clean, flush bacteria out, IV antibiotic for a head start.
@A G - I hope you're using a diluted solution of hydrogen peroxide with water and not the chemical full strength. If the latter then you're killing off the good bacteria right along with the bad and that isn't good either. Look it up or talk to a doctor; you'll discover I'm right.
Yep, imagine if she'd left it alone long enough that it had become necessary to amputate an arm. I honestly don't understand how somebody cannot see the importance of seeing a doc in the box if an infection is seemingly getting worse. I know that most people see doctors TOO OFTEN but still, something like that (if it seems to be getting worse) needs to be looked at at the earliest opportunity.
Oh gosh yes! I'm an otr truck driver and I live in the truck. I bought some new shoes and got a little blister. No big deal, right? I was working really hard, all the while my foot got more and more painful. I woke up one day and HOLY COW! My leg was red from toe to hip! Turns out I got a cellulitis infection! I was out of work for a couple of months. I clean off every little scrape now!
Google can be your friend! Just say"Wheres the nearest industrial park". Then find a warehouse with a for lease/sale sign out front. Once found, find an out of the way corner, and park for the night. A lot of industrial parks also allow curbside parking. Just look for big trucks parked on the street. As an OTR truck driver. This has saved my bacon many times, since the implementation of electronic logs that have zero leeway.
@@LilyGazou Try parking also by hospital parking lots or even urgent care places. Most people there are going to get care and will likely not even notice you. BTW you should carry protection if you don't as there are potential trouble makers and worse everywhere unfortunately. Don't mean to scare but to convey reality.
Yep saved my butt several times when delivering at 0100 and then being kicked out of customer at 0200. Otr trucker for 11 years, local now but very true. Just check for signs
She mentioned that they would let her stay for half an hour only taking the shower and be gone. (which makes sense she does not use all the premises, electricity, that much water (filling up) or disposing of her waste and waste water, nor does she occupy the space.
Totally get the society stress. After my first year living in my rv, just me and the dog, I went to visit family in the city for a few months. I had gotten so use to solitude and peace that the city over stimulated me. I bursted out into tears in Wal-Mart due to being over peopley. Safe travels!
I live in a rural beautiful mountain valley but was thinking of selling and RVing for awhile. After reviewing many different RV blogs/stations I think I’ll sell, build my tiny country house and Class B part time. Thank you for your honesty!! Blessings, let me know if ever in Hershey, Pa area.
I think I'm coming to the same conclusion! I want to sell my house next year, thinking of either getting land in an out of the way place to live, or just get a van or rv to live in. After watching many of these blogs, I realize I don't want to do this full time. I'm also concerned about my safety doing it alone. I don't want to live in a real hot or real snowy climate. I might like living in a cooler summer area where I can garden a little, then leave and travel in the snowy winter months.
A G I have been blessed, I guess traveling when I want and keeping my roots firmly planted works for me. The stars, the sunsets, the peace I have is what many are looking for. I may feel different this winter while snow blowing but even that can be beautiful from inside. 🤣
@A G I sold my Condo in the city and bought a house in a small rural town. It is soooo peaceful!! when I went outside at night for the first time I saw something I haven't seen in years ... fireflies.
Oh forgot to mention to make sure your finish all of the antibiotics. Lots of fluids flush the infection .... you have a lot of moms out here making sure you are well.
Some of the issues you have are because of the choices you make. Not saying the choices are right or wrong, they are what you made. For example, you wanted to take a shower but you did not want to pay the day fee so you drove around looking for something else. You ended up spending way more on gas then what the fee would have been.
Maybe you wouldn't feels so claustrophobic is you kept your belongings better organized and stowed away when not in use. My sister and her husband spent about 10 years living full time out of a series of different sized RV's and she is not one to leave anything out of "its place" if she is not actively using it. Her motto (not necessarily her husband's) was, if it can't be put away, out of sight, when not in use, then you have too much stuff. They started they camping experience long before they retired with a "pop-up", then went to a hi-brid, then a fully contained tow unit, then into a unit they drove and slept in a berth over the driver and passenger seat, the up to a unit with a full bed and bath in the back, then to a unit with a bed ROOM, then down to the former size, then back up to the latter, etc. Regardless of which unit they were in, the rule held. If it couldn't be stowed out of sight (either inside the unit or in the storage underneath) you had too much stuff and it was time to thin out belongings. They still live by the theory now that they have put down roots again.
@@CarolynsRVLife No, but I have lived in a very small apartment with a child, a dog, a rabbit, a bird and 2 white mice, and learned very early on, as did my son, that life is much easier if you put your things away when you are not actively using them. A place for every thing and everything in its place. It is amazing how much more usable room you have to live in. Like I said, my sister and her hubby lived in various sized RV's for many years, always on the move, and she never, NEVER, left anything out of "its place" if she was not actively using it. Not using the camera, put it away. Not wearing the shoes, into the closet. things were not left in the bath tub. They were put AWAY. So, she was never shifting things from here to there when she wanted to do something over here or there. EVEN WHEN THEY WERE USING THE POPUP CAMPER FOR WEEKS AT A TIME! It can be done. That included when they would stop for a time at a park and get 40 hour work week jobs to defray the cost of the parking site. All of your reasons listed - sq ftge, moving every day, work hours, training - all just sound like excuses for not having your rig and stuff organized in such a way that everything is stowed in such a way as to insure that it is not cluttered and does not contribute to making one feel claustrophobic. I am sure, if it was really important and desirable to do so, you would be able to do otherwise.
Hi Carolyn! You said you found a place to take a shower but, you didn't want to pay 5.00.. Well you spent more than that driving around. Gas is expensive. This is the way I look at it anyway..Take care. Love your videos..💜
@@rnsteve2265 (and Emma) : In Carolyn's defense, when you're in the middle of dealing with a problem, you may not necessarily be thinking of secondary side issues that are not immediately apparent. While it's true that she probably ended up burning more gas than the five bucks she would've saved by not entering a fee area, that's not necessarily something you're thinking about while you're looking for a place to stop to take a shower, especially when the gas is already in your tank and you're not actually buying it at that moment. What you're thinking about is your actual, immediate out-of-pocket cost for nothing more than being able to park your rig somewhere for an hour. Plus, Carolyn probably also didn't know it would be so hard to find a free place to stop for a short while to take a damn shower. If she had been clairvoyant and able to see into the future, she probably *_would_* have shelled out the five bucks. Hindsight is always 20/20.
Emma, I didn't' want to shower in a Park surrounded by other cars and people.. it wasn't just about the money, it was about finding a space that I felt comfortable and safe. The thing is I share my struggles, mistakes and challenges so others can learn, telling me what I 'should have ' done after the fact isn't helpful. Thanks for watching.
@@CarolynsRVLife Yeah, espescially AFTER you already explained why you didn't shower there. I would have used 10 tanks of gas to find a place I was comfortable, AND this is CAROLYN'S RV life, not anyone else's, or their money. :)
Your honesty about your struggles is appreciated very much. These are the type of issues I want to hear about. The real life, in the moment decisions. Love your videos and appreciate what you are doing.
Have you tried Good Rx? It's an ap you download on your phone. It shows a list of pharmacies and the prices. When you go to drop off the prescription you show them the ap. They have to honor the price. It saves me a lot of money. Also it's free.
It’s always easier to see this is someone else’s life....but I believe we all create our own stress in one way or another! I always learn something watching your wonderful videos! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah this stuff grinds you down. I live in a van with a 14 ft trailer in woods on someone’s property but several nights per week I’ve been out on the road (van only). I was in Berkeley several days last week (not even a giant city!) and the endless pavement, zillions of cars had me on the one hand thinking there are just too many humans, we are overpopulated, it’s crazy, and on the other hand I just got wiped out tired, from traffic disturbing sleep, and going from lot to street to lot etc. I’m right there with ya! Cities don’t seem healthy to me.
not sure if anyone has answered your question about the noise from your rig. My thought is that your radiator fan is on a clutch type drive and under hard loads, the fan is controlled by air temp through the radiator. As the temp goes up , the clutch grabs the fan stronger and what you hear is the fan moving more air. It is normal and you suggestion to turn the AC off is a good one. It helps lower the temp of the engine there by lowering the need for the fan. With you having been in cooler climates for so long. it may come as a abnormal noise. As long as you hear that fan when its warm like that, then all is good from my perspective. If it goes away, then watch you engine temp gauge. Don't want the engine to overheat. . thanks for the vid and appreciate all the info you giving. Think it will continue to help and grow your community to understand better the REALITY OF RVing. Love the vids. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see your uploads for your hike.
When I worked for Oregon State Parks 2 1/2 years I felt disoriented for 3 to 4 days when I switched parks. As I am going back on the road, I am watching for that transition/disoriented feeling and dealing with it.
Extraordinary Video --To be able to express to all of us your heartfelt FEELINGS & how you are teaching many of us how to be aware of them is just incredible on your part --I am so proud of you as a human being I wish you nothing short of the best life has to offer you &&&&& I know there is MUCH MORE TO COME ( Enjoy where you are on the way to where you are going ) Much love
YES! We should only use walmart as a last resort. Lets not take advantage and ruin it for everyone!! Also be respectful when you are there, Don't have your lawn chairs out camping outside of your RV and grilling food and leaving trash. Please.
I appreciate the work you put into these videos. They are real and informative and they definitely are others-oriented. Thank you! I have a Class C, and I’ve learned a ton from you.
I fake a sinus infection a couple times a year so I can store the antibiotics in case of an emergency. I'm intelligent enough to know when antibiotics are necessary, and being out on the road or traveling out of the country means not always having access to medical care. I bring them with me. Never had to use them, but I have them just in case. I also have a stash for my son who doesn't have insurance. He's 28, so can't be on mine anymore.
Life is full of adventures, twists, turns, bumps- the difference between an ordeal or an adventure is attitude. I read a statement from someone about a good marriage, he said its a decision and I just love that too. Sometimes we have to make a decision to be okay, with not really knowing what our day will be. My father was so good at that and I miss him dearly, as he died 20 years ago. We had a custom high top camper van growing up. We went everywhere, a family of 5. My mom and dad loved getting lost. It was an adventure to them. Anyway love your adventures as I am not able to travel right now.
Hi Carolyn, loved your video. Good advice to finish all your antibiotics and drink lots of water. Get lots of rest which is good for healing mentally and physically. Enjoy your peace and solitude! Bee well!
Oh boy, can I ever relate to this. I have a home base and also have a Class B. I decided to circumnavigate Lake Superior, starting in Sault Ste Marie, MI. In the States there were free places to park. On the Canadian side the only places to park at any time was Walmart, campgrounds, which I stay clear of, and day camping for a fee. There was no free camping or overnight parking anywhere and you needed reservations for the campgrounds. I was so frustrated that everywhere was loaded with RV’s trying to see the same things I wanted to see, and this was at the end of Sept., that I came home and sold the Pleasureway that same week. Now a year later all I was remembering was the good times where I could be alone in the wilderness, and you just brought back the realities of how crowded everywhere is and also expensive. Campgrounds here in Ontario are up to $60.00 a night, add gas to that and it can cost you $175.00 a day to keep those wheels turning.
If not a RV try living on a boat! Great experience living on the water. Lots of sea life... like harbor seals, sea lions, dolphin, whale, sharks, sea birds and more. Very peaceful and quiet.
@@jamierupert7563 Never get seasickness. But I have been on the water most of my life. Seasickness can be devastating. Got to be comfortable with the motion of the ocean.
that's probably what I'll do when I'm an old person. but the maintenance scares me. I just feel like boats have to be super clean with all the salt water/corrosion issues?
Carolyn, this is now one of my favorite videos. Truthful, honest and realistic. You are a brave explorer and handle all of this quite well. I’m afraid I see the writing on the wall. Less and less will be available for free. Lately, we are anything but a free society. I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but people need to hear what you are saying. It’s not easy out there. Even paid RV parks fill up. You are admirable and I’d love to meet you. Maybe some of your bravery would rub off. Happy trails, have fun. 🤗❤️☘️
For any skin infection I highly recommend to apply hydrated Sodium Bentonite clay it will completely heal it if you reapply it frequently and for several days.
Carolyn, you speak faster than I do. I suspect you need the quiet. You may be like myself I have ADHD and carry multiple conversations etc in my brain. Hey you don't have to smoke your medicine but please Carolyn BREATHE...just allow yourself to chill. I used to go stare at the waves and then the sunset over the ocean.
Carolyn I follow your post and have been getting to know you more by looking at past post. I am a RN for 58 years. who was a director of nursing at psychiatric hosp for 3 years. Carolyn you left the regular world to full time RV. When you here sticks and bricks you did not have major events occurring at the pace they are on the road. In -3 yrs you have been through 2 rigs each with major repairs, traveled many miles, developed many videos, endured death threats and criticism from head strong people who think they know so much then to have lost Capone plus your regular transitions is A LOT. YOU ARE HARD ON YOURSELF. Maybe you need more people connection than you realize on your terms as well as nature but maybe you need to think about driving less after your hike and write your book. Embrace freedom through RV living compiling in a book all the things to help newbies or want a bees. Maybe just do a live video once a week to show how you can embrace a new kind of NORMAL. Carolyn you are loved by many. Your post give people a chance to experience adventure even if they can not get out there and do it. I am 80 and have been on many adventure experiences so I do enjoy your adventure with a heart💖. I am on a very fixed income with being a health giver parttime or I would contribute to your cause. I will pray for you as you explore new adventures in your life. From all I as have seen of your videos God doesn’t have a significant part in your life but He has brought me through serious illness ( ICU FOR 3 months) 40 years ago to still going strong at 80. We don’t all have to fit the same mold we just draw strength from sharing our experiences and meeting live one day at a time. It is not how long you live but how well we embrace each day we are given. Love your connection with Bob.
I use a spray alcohol, a spray peroxide and Neosporin for anything that looks like an infection is apparent. I let the alcohol dry and then apply the peroxide and let it dry. I then apply the Neosporin and a bandage. Sometimes I put a glove on a hand that is infected.
Thank you so much for expressing yourself so well about transitions. I realized after watching your video I personally am in total denial about the fact that I am on the verge of finalizing a marriage and a complete life that I have built for myself here and buying a rig and a camper and hitting the road full-time RVing at the age of 72 alone... It's really the only way I'll be able to own a nice home and have a certain sense of freedom.
This video is completely in-sync with my life at the moment. Transitioning😒. 4+ months of it so far, but hopefully nearing the end of it. My Number One stressor is damn unpredictability of it all. Everything feels due RIGHT NOW and must get done or I cannot move on to the next step. It feels like "the perfect storm" scenario and failure is not an option. Some things are critical, some are just annoying. Need to update Passport, renew licenses, get photos for all of the above, taxes, government appointments, insurance, etc... All I want is my freedom back. I don't want appointments and "have to's", the waiting, the hurry up, the stress and it only takes one incompetent to delay a step and mess up the timing of everything that follows. Am I forgetting something, should I have filed it earlier??? Plagued with doubts and worry, like I have to align the planets perfectly or something. But I know I must adult at some points in time and this is one of them. UGH I keep thinking, just please get me to the end of this transition with as little battle scars as possible, then I am good for a long while, which is why your therapist's advice is so effective in stress reduction. Planning is your battle armor. Because what is out of your control is stressful, what is not regular life is stressful. Next time, I will do it differently. I will stagger these things so I do not feel so overwhelmed. I will plan better. There are positive benefits to this though. I know that this will make me appreciate my "normal life" fully. It sounds like I am giving birth, I am not, but in a way, it is, like giving birth to the next phase of normal for me and I can't wait for my biggest decision/responsibility to be which coffee will I have this morning.
Its a lot, I am in the middle of going to a new state, and have to redo all kinds of insurances and paperwork. It gets overwhelming at times. But I have a notebook and make lists so I can check off what is done and move on to the next thing. Slowly things are getting done. But sometimes you have a day when all things just fall into place. Those days are great. Good luck things will all work out. Maybe not exactly the way you planned but they will work out. God Bless.
We full time and too recognize the "culture shock" of transitioning from solitude to heavily settled/urban areas. We also prefer stealth or boondocking to RV parks/campgrounds. A lot of the "challenge" of your shower & night parking spot quest seems like you persueing your own particular criteria for those activites. It is not inherant to the lifestyle neccessarily. Everyone has their process preferences. As far as gear all,over....we too dealt with this. We had to,face there is a lot of "stuff" that has to,go. We have to be mindful of weight and its as you said put it all away. All these things are our choices and the consequences of those choices.
I feel like people who have trailers rather than RV/van/bus are kind of forced to use RV parks religiously since, they have to drop the trailer any time they want to be mobile.
Hi Carolyn. I can totally relate to the city/boonies reaction. I lived in the Seattle area for 30 years. 12 years ago, I moved to eastern Oregon. Now, when I go back to the Seattle area to visit family, my body starts "buzzing" (vibrating) and it doesn't stop until I get back over across the mountains.
Kathy McG I hear ya. I was driving around a cousin from out of town- Seattle has changed so much , terrible traffic and crime. I love to go work out of town , eastern WA, Port Orchard, the ocean area, anything. My spirits rise as soon as I get past the city limit😂.
Lily Gazou - Yes, I could never live in that area again. Living where I live in E OR has it’s drawbacks but I love the wide open space and lack of crowds.
Great video. Seems that is how life is whether we live in an RV or more stationary accommodations, but I’m pretty sure that RV life amplifies the effect. The upside is that living in an RV you can get out of a stressful environment in a relatively short period of time. For me just owning an RV ( and being retired) affords me that opportunity sometimes.
Yes, the antibiotic was necessary, but stock up on hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol bandaids, gauze, adhesive, and Benadryl cream for insect bites and poison ivy. Just get a plastic box in a dollar store to keep your first aid stuff in. You may even end up using it for someone else beside yourself, when you least expect it. Oh, and surgical gloves...lolol
This place you awoke is not that bad seeming kind of quiet. Planet Fitness is good for the body and a Great shower. If you do not won’t to pay for a membership at PF ...$5.00 at the boat ramp really would have been worth it if you felt comfortable. Glad you took care of your rash and that it is looking better. Be Happy with your choices and life.
My wife and I done Rving for 5 years after we retired. Now we are just tired. So we are settling in a small town on the Snake river in Idaho. Not to far from our kids and grandkids. RV life is awesome. We have a lot of memories. Thank you for your selfless honest videos.
When I boondock I keep 3 gallons of water in my shower with a bucket. You either keep your shower water in the bucket or let it drain into your grey water tank. Become a Harvest Host member, there are thousands across America, one might have been near you. They are free after you pay the yearly membership fee.
Please don’t get discouraged Carolyn, you are my hero. I would love to live like you. Oh btw I’m a women 65 years old. Im the one with panic disorder. You have helped me so much. I love your chatty way! 🤪
Noise, people, activity, noise, schedules...we ALL get stressed out when those things are going on and especially when they increase. There you go being human again! 😁
Years ago I had a Chiropractor tell me that our bodies need 28 days to adjust to any new change. Even small things. Well that would only make sense that you would be experiencing some intense emotional and physical challenges at times. Moving around like you do. Take care and thanks for sharing. Praying for a safe hiking adventure.
I know the feeling of transitioning from your normal routine to being around volumes of people, and traffic is stressful within itself. I’m in the New England area and I’m struggling with the same issues. I’m anxiously wanting to return to the wide open spaces of the western mountains and deserts a lot sooner than I planned. 👌🏾😎👍🏾😄🤞🏾😁
nothing against the lifestyle, it's just not for me, though. dragging along a female and a dog would make it tougher just in the sense we'd get on each others' nerves, it'd smell, be messy, no privacy, meandering around for hours just to wind up camping across the street of a residential area, and i quite frankly enjoy the amenities that my work pays for are enough to put me off. i see these vids of beautiful young people camping out in beautiful locations, the rig is spotless and all is just peachy keen, i'm just like, yeah, whatever. endless hours on the road, freezing my ass off, laundromats, showering whenever, the actual high cost of it, the real pointlessness of it other than to make videos.... i guess there are a lot of positives, too, i guess i'm just not a gypsy. it would be fun for a couple of weeks....
If it helps any I think about how much my small square footage would cost as apartment floorspace in the centre of Paris $1,000,000 ! Then i feel richer and smarter because i didnt pay it and i channel my Marie Kondo and get joy from the ritual of putting things away - but to get my inner child to help i have to set a timer to 15mins and count the number of objects i tidy away in that time before the bell goes off 🤗
I was a bit harsh in my comment - I am sorry - I do enjoy your videos and look forward to your hiking adventure. I also apologize to your followers if I upset them also.
Transition....our son unexpectedly passed in September and we’ve had too move as our home sold during that time....I’m no longer employed....husband can’t retire due to our finances right now....we’re really thinking of selling this house and buying a Class C for our permanent home. Thank you for this video. Much to contemplate.
Anna Wallace I’m so sorry for your loss. You might consider using Air BNB to make some income with your house while you work on transitioning to wheels. You are under a lot of stress right now and that might give you some leeway.
Lily Gazou thank you for the suggestion for a job. It’s been a long hard road but I know we’ll get through it. Now daughter in law is battling breast cancer too. Had a double mastectomy yesterday. But God is still in control. He has a purpose for everything. Thanks for your concern 💕maybe one day we’ll meet out there!
@@annawallace4629 I'm so sorry for the trials you are dealing with. My deepest sympathies on the loss of your son, and prayers that your DIL will kick the cancer permanently.
My dad had us kids on the road my entire childhood, planes, trains, buses, OMG the Greyhound trips, cars, boats, abroad, I used to love it so much, the different places, cultures, motels, food, but as soon as I turned 18 I had had it, didn't want to go anywhere and the desire to travel has not come back. Loving the sameness of my life now, knowing where I am, where my stuff is, what's in my community. It really was a lot of fun though.
Different antibiotics treat different things. There's no one specific antibiotic that you can use for just anything. I'm not saying this to be rude, just helpful. I just didn't know how else to say it. Please, no judgement on my comment, I'm just trying to possibly save someone's life. I was a pharmacist for 30 years & many people would think so & so's penicillin (or whatever they had leftover, which shouldn't be leftover) would work in someone's pneumonia. Just using examples. Always get any infections checked out by a liscensed physician. :)
@@jamierupert7563 Exactly. Not to mention that people throwing broad-spectrum antibiotics indiscriminately at every little thing for decades is part of how we ended up in the position of having so many antibiotic-resistant bugs. (long-time former paramedic and drug rep here)
It is very important to bathe everyday because we have staph on our skin and that infection probably continued to get worse. Be sure to take all antibiotic and use a topical ointment with antibiotic to help heal faster.
You are spoiled by all the solitude and wide open spaces! City life understandably must be quite stressful! I would have a hard time too. I love solitude and if I had the kind of freedom you have most of the time I would not want to come back either!
I love how you're so self aware and you share this with us. This is what sets you apart from the other RV Vloggers. Maybe it's just because I can totally relate. But, as always, thank you for being you. Enjoy your stay while you prepare for your hike on the PCT.
Thanx for the heads up re changes. I love your new glasses. I also notice that your videos are very clear and the photo details are much crisper. Must be your new camera. Please be safe and do take your meds on time! I do love watching videos of the mountains and real trees. Here in FL I miss this part of the other natural geography of our country-side. I understand you want to get views but can you tone down the drama a bit on your video titles? The videos seems to have been getting more long winded as well with less content and more repetition. I know viewing minutes count too so I can understand but sometimes it would be great if you would get to the point quicker. I've watched and enjoyed many of your videos and I'm subscribed. Just some constructive criticism.

Carol who are you to tell people to go away? I haven’t missed one of these videos but this one ran on and on and never went anywhere. I’m sure the content provider loves to hear from her subscribers.
I felt click bate, didn't appreciate it, still, Carolyn is chatting w/her subscribers, her followers, folks like me w/friendliness and kinship. I was certainly in a rush for her to get to the point. Her infection certainly alarmed me, and I am glad the meet and greet folks urged her to seek medical. Carolyn is allowed to be human, be sick, "just be", I believe her heart is in the right place, and her intent is good.
Clickbait would have been "This is the end of RV Life for me!" Because that would have been dishonest. But since I actually asked myself if this is the end of RV life for me and talked about that, it's a TEASER The "?" leaves the question open.. "Is it or isn't it?". I understand that you're sensitive to deception by advertising and I do my best to create compelling and interesting headlines and thumbnails that will compel people to watch. Maybe if more people watched the ones without TEASERS I could 'tone' them down.
I viewed this because of the title. Not sure if I was able to make the connection. Anyway I stuck it out and watched the entire post thinking the subject would be addressed. I guess it was. She did say she was happy at the end. I quit watching these 'van life' posts because they seem to be fake to me. She doesn't seem fake but I don't find the content that interesting.
I really enjoyed the video! One thing I especially liked is how well the audio and video sinc in this video. The only problem with the reverse camera is it looks like you’re driving in The UK or something. I hadn’t even noticed it until you mentioned it. Anyway, I know exactly what you mean about the stress. As I got closer to home in Bonners ferry Idaho, I could just feel the stress rising. I spent three weeks in a friends driveway, and I would’ve left halfway through if it hadn’t started snowing. I was about to lose it by the time I left. I went to be a camp host, and I had to ditch that too before I lost my sanity. I guess I have to admit that I’m back here in the national forest in Flagstaff and finally able to say that I am slowly regaining the relaxation and stress relief that I had gained this winter in the desert. I guess I sound like a wimp, but I just can’t take all the responsibilities and expectations of the world anymore. Hope you destress in your new camp. Oh, by the way, I think I’m beginning to understand what you say about all the negative comments and trolls. What makes people think that they need to leave a negative comment and make fun of this video or any other. If I don’t like what someone says in the video, I just DON’T comment at all! I went to the bottom of the comments and about every single one was a complaint, a put down or a something similar. Thank you for putting yourself out there!
I would have asked about the possibility of just staying at the urgent care. Most of them close down about the time you were leaving there. About the mess, I live at work. Work for me is in the cab of a tractor trailer. When going up hills or mountains, watch the temperature gauge so you can see if the engine is overheating. That could be your problem.
For infections I use Dotera. My top 5 are Onguard, Melaleuca, lavender, oregano and frankincense.. I’ve used them internally and have knocked out many many starting colds, food poisoning and flu. For success you have to get on them at first sign. Skin infections are easily treated. Fresh Garlic is also good to make a poultice out of and is great for tooth infections. Those products have saved my health now for 10 years! I can’t recommend them enough!
Boy oh boy, I can relate to you and transitions! Change is one constant in life, and can be super stressful. Even small changes can cause stress. Hang in there. I’m happy you found a good location to land for now.
I'm not a fan of Walmarts for a number of reasons, biggest being they're simply too noisy often. It's also why I have a scooter on the back of my RV, so I can go check out spots before I drive my RV out to some place in a city.
Thanks I needed to hear about the " transitions", After twenty yrs I have gone back to school bus driving. School's out. Hardly know when to slow down! Playing catch up with life!
The goal is the quiet solitude of living near nature, keeping things basic and as simple as possible. Sometimes, all I can see are those overpriced fees for parking, annoyed homeowners who don't like rvs in their town, and I so dislike that feeling. Why be made to feel like a fugitive, be stopped by cops when you're just resting between towns... it seems harder to just boondock and unplug from anything. Thanks for sharing, and we love watching your adventures. Best, Holly, Clive and Thorn
Fern, yes. exactly. You did a great job of articulating what I didn't in this video.. it's more about paying $5 and more about just driving around.. it goes deeper. Thank you very much for your insight! Safe and happy travels to you! Hugs, Carolyn
After watching your videos for nearly two years my heart sank when I read this video’s title. Thanks for the reality check. You have no idea how timely your information is regarding transitions as I make the transition from a 26 year military career to civilian life! Thanks again!
Interesting life,,,FYI Drink FULL GLASS of water with antibiotics & your clothes /sheets should be washed at least once with the Lysol laundry cleaner that's added to the detergent & sanitizes fabrics....
