The song (Everything I Do) I Do It For You by Bryan Adams, is a HUGE song. It was number 1 for months when it came out. Not only is it a great song, it has a truly epic guitar solo played by keith Scott. I'm going on record in saying that it's the greatest guitar solo of the 90's! What do you think?

Mike has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old, and from that first moment his love affair with music and the instrument began. Fresh out of school at the age of 16 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and completed a year-long Diploma course.
After finishing the ACM his life as a full time musician began, playing in numerous bands and touring up and down the country playing iconic venues such asThe Shepherds Bush Empire, The Astoria, The Underworld and London’s Jazz Café. He’s also been fortunate enough to support industry legends Paul Weller, Blondie and Katie Melua.
Mike’s session work has led to his working on a variety of projects - from performing with stars such as Ricky Wilson and Diana Vickers, to appearing in many TV shows and adverts. Mike loves being on stage performing, but is equally at home recording in a studio - where he has worked with Alex Von Soos (All Saints, Seal, Atomic Kitten), Mike Horner (The Prodigy, Shakira, Bloc Party), and Mike Chapman (Blondie, Suzi Quatro)

Yes definitely Keith Scott. Been going to Bryan gigs since early 80s. Always a great gig. I agree Keith's not mentioned enough.

Keith along with Sambora, played for the song!! Both an inspiration...keeping it simple but affective 👍🏼

Yes I just googled who did the solo after hearing it on the radio & it led me to your great video here. The solo has incredible vibe & technique, not flashy but so slick & all lifts to that last note which makes the ending explode as the lyrics return, epic.

Everyone remembers Grunge from 1991, but this was the biggest selling single and spent the longest time at/near the top of the charts.

I agree. I think Bryan Adams is overlooked and left off of too many lists.

Mike, I’d love for you to do a deep dive on the Carpenters song: Goodbye to Love. It’s got two fantastic solos in it… the outro solo is especially magnificent. But it sits in a love ballad where you wouldn’t necessarily put such a solo… in fact, they got hate mail for trying to put an electric guitar solo in that song. But wow, to this day I find it stunning. A 30 minute deep dive video would be welcomed!!! If you’re so inclined anyway. :) PS - if per chance it's a song you don't know or know we'll, a reaction video would be very welcomed. I'd love to hear your take!!

@@MikeBradleyofficialawesome! It's the juxtaposition, and yet harmony, between the type of song and the solo that I find so fascinating. Since you've not heard it, a live reaction video would be great!! 😎😎

Wasn’t a fan of Bryan Adam’s but I agree the solo in that one is perfect.

Beautiful solo, but my favorite 90s solo is maybe in Blaze of glory, played by Jeff Beck

Bryan Adams had Keith Scott on a pretty tight leash in most songs. We never really heard Keith put in that killer solo he was well capable of. This solo was pretty good though.

I have heard from many people in the business that Keith was a big Gilmour fan, and I think that’s clear.

I'm ashamed to admit I never heard of Keith. However, I've always loved the guitar playing in Bryan's tunes so I will absolutely be looking into him more. Funny that this video appeared on my suggestions today as I've been thinking a lot recently about guitar solos. We all love to play guitar but at what point does a guitar solo become needless fret wankery and just a "look what I can do" exercise? Not everyone at a gig is going to be a musician and long solos are just going to bore people. I've been thinking of this loads lately and I'm guilty of over playing myself. This is a great video! What's your thoughts Mike? At what point does the solo become just mindless noodling?
@MikeBradleyofficial
@MikeBradleyofficial 4 месяца назад
Glad to hear this was recommended to you Jimmy. Yes I hear you. It’s all about rhythm, not just rhythm for chords, but the rhythm of the lead playing, just boring noodling, usually has no rhythmic quality to it, all about pricking the ear up .

To be fair, purely in terms of rock and pop in the 90’s, there’s not an AWFUL lot to compare it too ….

Mike this is fabulous! By the way, you're not old, in 1991 you just made me realize (damn you!), I was 14 years into my (non-music) career 😯, music/guitar just my avocation...so the 60's, 70's and some 80's was more my bag.... but you're not wrong here, great song and solo! Speaking of the 80s (and 90s), I remarked on another video "The Devil's On My Side" you did that, it struck me you were really putting out some Chris Rea vibe (pace, beat, lyrical sensibility, etc) - don't know if you saw that, but wonder what you think?
@MikeBradleyofficial
@MikeBradleyofficial 4 месяца назад
What a great time to be alive back then! Life was def simpler! Haha Yes I saw that, sorry if I didn’t reply. I appreciate Chris Rea, can’t say I’ve listened to much of him though tbh, except the 2big songs of his. I’ll certainly take it though. 😊

@@MikeBradleyofficial Mike, I agree..... I would take that as not bad company! I am a late re-appreciator of Rea after thirty-some years. Although there were other great songs, On The Beach, Road to Hell, Looking For The Summer, etc, that I certainly don't recall getting as much notice here, he was somewhat of a one-hit wonder here in the US with "Fool If You Think It's Over," which got a great deal of airplay as I recall (been awhile ;-)). In fact, it was huge for him, keeping him alive in the business as he's related in interviews a poignant story, emanating from literally "driving home for Christmas," on a snowy night from the studio, facing hard times (to the extent of wondering whether he should quit the biz and be doing something else) whereupon he and his wife found inside their door his first royalty check from the US for "Fool...". Oddly, I don't believe he ever toured the US, which - the way the market worked back then - may have not helped keep things going here, but my guess is a lot of illness he struggled with played a part ( he's had a very rough go of it)...and (I'm guessing) by the time he might have been able to, that ship may have already sailed, fickle business moving on to different genres, etc. Flash forward some thirty years, around December a few years ago, "Driving Home For Christmas" popped up on my Holiday music feed on YT, and I was re-hooked. Criminally, I don't recall it ever having much if any airplay here, so was new to me. Such an evocative song that time of year, it's now one of my go-to's during the Holidays...but also prompted me to re-acquaint myself with some of his other great material from the 80s and 90s. Another artist of the same era, Scotsman Gerry Rafferty had a few hits in the US as well, and from time to time I confused the two recalling--in a way--some similar characteristics. The two songs of his that were big here were "Baker Street," and "Right Down The Line." Back to Chris Rea, if not as familiar check out some of the above as well as "Wired To The Moon," "Auberge" and too many others to name. I'm rediscovering, as I said, a lot of his music. Great guitarist and lyricist. In any event, Rea similarities or not, your song "The Devil's On My Side" is fabulous, thoroughly enjoyed everything about it!
