Could this be the world's best beach fishing rig? Everyone wants to use a successful rig when fishing from the UK's beach ,and in this episode GP tries to explain what he believes might be the best rig for a beginner to try in an effort to catch a few fish. Its very short and compact ,but he has had some good success when using it so it might be worth watching to see if you can duplicate it yourself...He also has a cookup on the G-Stove in the World famous Tackle shack,a man-cave that he built himself out of old packing crates...and for a change he didn't burn the food !!!...Then he repairs one of his 300lb Mako shark jaws,and finally attacks his frozen fountain with a power drill (??)...he just wants to see how deep the ice is after he forgot to empty it in the last freeze up...Another Totally Awesome mashup of information...Enjoy..

srt spring help compress the rig to geather so the snoods dont flap around in the cast keeps it compact and stream line

Nice one Graeme. A very good rig and also nicely versatile. Similar to one of my favorites that I started using in the 80’s, which was good for distance on clean beaches. By the way Graeme if you leave a small floating rubber ball or short length of hose held against the side vertically it relieves the pressure of the ice, when it contracts and expands. Maybe a small screw through the broom head into the shaft would help, too.

Hi Graham...thats a three hook clip down... the spring at the top takes up the stretch when you cast so the snoods don't come unclipped when the rig relaxes after the stretch incurred when casting.... also the thinner snoods would stay a little stretched and no longer clip down or stay clipped down in subsequent casts... hope that makes sense... thanks for all your entertaining and informative videos... get well soon and stay well...hope to bump into you on the beach or Bank one day.... regards Rob w

Nice video Graham, these are great rigs I've been using them for years. You can adapt the bottom snood so it fishes the bottom, I crimp it above the lead and put the cascade mid way on the snood lt works a treat.

Nice one Graeme, looks like the bat cave is ready for some decoration , use water based stain next time, it's micro porous and won't peel off like oil based stain. ( I'm a decorator ) . Trust me .

Hi Graeme. Very entertaining. Thankyou. At three score years and ten, like you I have dread of cold wet bank hands - but now the box of black nitrile gloves left over from the dreaded covid days come into their own. Slip 'em on under two finger fingerless work gloves (no comments please) and bingo. No water on the digits and relatively warm hands, dextrous enough to tie a knot, friendly enough to grip a slippery Bream and smooth enough not to get hooked up on. On with my goggles and off I go. Dry the gloves on the car heater vent on the way home (open the window a bit) chuck the nitriles in the recycling and happy days! Good luck Sticky All from Amazonia, £13 squid for the Scruff gloves (plenty of options) and & £8 for the black nitriles. With some personal variation you should be good for an awesome winter season.

Sounds a goods tip,I think others have mentioned putting "covid" gloves on under other gloves to keep moisture off,so must work. Thanks for posting,it might help others as well.

Thanks for the close-up on the whackernoster, I'll give it a try. When demonstrating clipped rigs I find it easier to hang the rig vertically on a wall from a hook/screw. That way the weight of the lead keeps the clipped rig under tension without getting your arms in a tangle.

Just a little tip I've found cooking on my log burner, if the burner is to hot for cooking put some 2pence coins on top, can stack them of needed and put the pan on them. Works well 😉

As far as I can remember the leads with wings on were made by a guy in Cardiff (DCA) moulds and were actually sold as a lead lift mould, IE come up in the water on retrieval, supposedly!!!.
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 5 месяцев назад
Yes, I think they were DCA moulds .I had several made by them in different shapes and sizes and they are still going strong. I find the ones with the vanes can get bent on the retrieve over rocky ground which may alter the flight on the next cast. If bent I usually straighten them back with pliers.

Could do with the weather settling down and creeping up a few degrees. I was going beach fishing last night but cancelled when I saw the minus temperatures..I think Sunday onwards the wind is going down with a high pressure coming in,I just hope it doesn't get an Easterly set in it .

Hi Graeme, Great video. I use Sakuma Power Gum for all stop knots including float stop knots. It's a sort of rubber fishing line for want of a better description. You just tie a couple of knots around your line with it, trim it and it slides up and down your line. Highly recommend it, super easy and super quick. Steve in Fife.

Graeme, I use a simple nail to hammer the groove in lead's perfect shape and neat. Love all your vids mate through the years. Never give up, as it will leave a big void in my RU-vid viewings Mike does a great show as well watch all he puts out as well. By the way when you shot a vid on Brixham breakwater a while back you were right by my boat a trusty 21 by the name of Lovely maid. That chuffed me up no end. Sadly there are too many seals in the area now and has decimated the fish stocks in and around the harbour. Myself losing many bass and thick lipped mullet. They know exactly how to unhook mackerel too and are not afraid of humans. I love wild life, but they certainly are a menace as you think of the old otter on our rivers. Everything has to find its natural balance.
@TAFishing

Seals in the sea and otters in the river...and that's without all the pollution as well.

I wouldn't have used polyurathane glue on that job, simple super glue would have done it especially if you'd have applied accelerator to one side of the plaque, 20 seconds holding it down. Polyurathane as you say expands and would swell over and off the work piece. I only hope you managed it well in the end.

Just a quick question could these be used in carp fishing to prevent tangles at range when using supple braids,and great content always graeme.
@TAFishing
@TAFishing Год назад
I have no idea actually but it does make me wonder,there could be a place in long distance carp fishing.I assume you mean the cascade swivels with the tiny hook holder ? Ask in your local tackle shop or check online,they can't cost much as they are so small.

Mike did use to have a discount code running on his T.A. Outdoors films,but I don't know if it still works. You could message him to find out.

hi , greetings from sunny Queensland Australia , points for trying mate , but ,, this is the most useless nerdiest rig ever , cheers
@TAFishing
@TAFishing Год назад
Hi there Oz, I guess all our rigs must seem a bit nerdie given the huge amount of fish action you guys have over there(I've fished the Barrier reef at Cairns,plus the Daintree/Barramundi etc)...but you have to realise every country is different. We don't have the huge amount of fish species you have,so many people over here are actually grateful to catch anything,even small fish. This is what we would call a scratching rig,just to salvage some sort of catch ,and it is really good for that...I didn't make it,so I don't get points for trying,its a commercially made shop-bought rig....Might be a bit light for the billfish off Townsville though.
